@@SethKolbePrefect I agree. They should've made that scrapped dmg debuff orb her ult. But blizzard seems to refrain from making any more defensive ability because it will make dps players feel bad.
Hi. My name is princeandrew/gummyurethra and got a shiny rank by playing a semi dps Moira. Here is my input ( and yes I have too much free time ) There are two types of dps play style: assassination and farming. In assassination, you want to be diving any squishy that lack life saving abilities or mobility. Its dependent on the situation but damage orbs are normally better if the goal is to kill the target as quickly as possible (EG a widow or a zen). However, sometimes its better to throw a healing orb if they have an ability which will counter a damage orb such as an immortality ( the damage orb will do nothing to 1 hp targets in lamp. It will go straight pass them) or suzu. Additionally, if you dive with another character, it can be better to throw a healing orb and damage then throw a damage orb and heal. This is because its more important to keep your team up than kill the squishy. But, throwing a healing orb and trying to damage the squishy in this scenario is better because its a lot easier to kill a 1 hp target through the enemy front line than normally your other diver. Its best if you don’t use fade to engage an assassination but as a way out if something happens. For example, if you fade onto an ana and get antied you are dead. Therefore its best to fade when you get low. But, there a lot of situational circumstances. Like if you tried to dive a widow who cant get peel, theres no point on saving fade since you can get one shot. Additionally, if you go to assassinate and get low, you dont always have to fade out depending on your next orb cool down. This is because it can be better to fade and just jump to another position (maybe to a high ground) throw a heal orb and carry on dpsing. This is because it can be very unexpected and sometimes you have a higher chance of death if you try to go back to your team, since the other enemies/front line will kill you. Remember not to get to close to a target like zen when trying to dive them. This is because his mele can screw you up. Similarly, keep distance and be on high ground if you are dpsing a close range character such as junk or reaper. Moreover, a hero specific tip into bap. You go to 1v1 a bap in a situation where none of the either team can peel. You initiate by fading onto him because you dont have to worry about getting one shot. Then throw a heal orb and run with it whilst dpsing. The life steal and healing orb will out heal the baps damage and keep you healthy. Now if he regen boosts, carry on damaging. If he immortality fields, DO NOT SHOOT IT. This is because you dont get life steal off it and the bap will either regen health if he hasnt used his ability or will get it back due to support passive. Additionally, by the time you would have broken the lamp, it would have almost be already broken because of time. Anyway, what you want to do is to carry on shooting the bap just to get him to 20 hp in immortality. This is because this gives the life steal and will mean he is pretty much dead when lamp dies. Also, it will counter his regen boost in he uses it and keep him 1 hp. In this awkward time of just dpsing him whilst hes 1 hp in immortality, make sure you throw a heal orb to help you. This is because the damage orb doesn’t to damage to lamp and will rum straight pass him. Other tips for the assassination moira are all more general such as not getting orbs eaten and make sure you maximise your orbs up time with trigonometry. Oh yeah, I almost forgot about he ultimate. A dps coalescence is an assassination play style, not a farming one. Make sure you use orb before ulting because there is no point in not doing it for an extra burst of heals/damage since it will be back off cool down when you get it back. The same can be said about using fade into ult, but do be careful not to go too deep into the backlines because you can get antied. In a dps coalescence, target picking is the most important thing. The best targets are still those who dont have mobility or life saving abilities. However, you can now have fun trying to kill new targets such as a mercy in pharmacy, an unpocketed echo etc… Then finally the other dps play style is the farming one. This is the play style I use 90% of the time and what got me 43 on my moira 1 trick. This playstyle incorporates just doing lots of damage to boost ult charge, stats etc. This includes: throwing damage orbs into a bulky mass when everyone is alive and my personal favourite, just running at people. In this play style, you are an invincible juggernaut who can just thrown a heal orb in a tight room or in the direction you are running. There are lots of characters in this game who moira can run at and just brawl who wont be able to mow you down fast enough to get the kill. The most obvious examples include brig, Winstons and other moiras. If you play it right, they cannot kill you. But, what they dont know, is that it gives you insane ult charge and stats. For example, on illios light house if both teams are high ground and you see one of these characters trying to cap point, you can go down a contest forever. Also, you can do this with other characters such as rein as long as you keep your distance. If you have heal orb and life steal, it takes more than 5 swings to kill a moira. Furthermore, with the 6 second ability to fade to another position and re engage, you can become an annoying little rat. However, with this playstyle, you dont have to be doing it for minutes at a time in the backlines. You can do it with nearly all heroes for 4-5 secs depending on what cool downs they have and your position. EG lots of tanks in the games have cool downs which can be a big no no for moira such as hook, spear, rock, charge. As long as these heroes dont have these kill abilities, you are fine to do this. I’ll give you some more examples like characters that will kill you but gradually. Examples include: mei, ram, zarya etc… These characters cant kill you if you have fade, so throw a heal orb, do damage and when you get low, fade out. Additionally, keeping distance can also be useful like in the case of dva. You have to be careful with dva since she can do lots of damage if you get close and chase you down with boosters if you get low when fading out. So what you do, if suck her off at a 20m range away with a healing orb and you are fine. Other massive tips is that hook distance and shatter distance is the same distance as moiras suck. So be aware that as long as you sucking, the my can hook or shatter you. I hope this was useful and someone reads this. Finally a good Moira video that isn't just DPS Moira or complaining about her low skill floor! I agree with everything you say here except about Coalescence. I think it's okay to start fights with it instead of only saving it for the midfight. Since coalescence is so weak it's not really wasted if you burn it at the start of a fight to get the enemy to blow cooldowns or to help your team rush into position and be topped off when they get there (kind of like the rare Lucio initiating ultimate, only nowhere near as wasteful.) I think Moira is underrated. Despite the value supports give with their utility, I still rank healing as at least equal in importance, depending on team comp. Furthermore, her independence takes a load off the mental strain on the team. If Ana or Zen call out they're being attacked I'll spin around to check. If Moira calls out I'll probably finish what I'm doing first.
I definitely agree with you on the coalescence thing. At the start of a fight combined with a damage orb taking out support or squishies can really help and even if you can't I find it's usually enough for your team mates to take them out.
As a complete newbie she is so easy to play. Just click to steal health, don't even have to aim. Just press to heal someone (The heal speed isn't too great though, and unsure about the range). Honestly the biggest dubs are the teleporting and ball of destruction. That sneaky thing can steal so much health from so many people. If a map is small and conjested, she is the wueen. Though she needs to be with the group, she is quite squishy by herself. She can easily 1v1 any support, and reliably kill of a distracted DPS (But squishy so run if they spot you), but tanks are best left to deal by others
I don't like when Sombra can just rmb you when you use your ult on Moira, but since almost no one play Sombra now it's not common. Moira is also very useful against Genji when he uses his deflect on low hp and just dies because you counter him with 1 button. A very common mistake on Moira is using orbs in a straight direction. It is rather effective when your healing orb bounces at leat 1 time. For a damage orb it is the same but now it works a little different and deals less damage and also it decreases in size. Another common mistake on low elo is using her ultimate when 1 enemy is low hp. Her ultimate was made for healing your teammates. It is highly efffective when your tank is low. Usually it is almost impossible to outheal high damage from Bastion or from Soldire/Genji ult but you can outheal it with Moira's ultimate easily or protect your teammate who is using ult like when Genji is 1vs5 using blade you can aim at him and he won't die unless Sigma's rock or something
I’ve mastered Moira and have played games with insane eliminations and prevented my team from any deaths, the key is speed. Jump in, send healing orb, damage what you can, then jump out and healing orb. This keeps yourself, the frontlines, and the rear lines all healed. It’s an art form
Don't forget to do the hippity hop dance when you battle a dps to piss them off because they can't land their shots and because you used a healing orb prior to sucking ( I regret nothing about that statement lol) it makes you almost unkillable since sucking also heals you.
@@QrowxClover that is the thing lol, IF they are smart enough. It's what I always tell people to do with her, stop trying to AD AD her and just stand still and delete her and problem solved. But in the lower ranks DPS are probably the worst players on a team lol.
@@texdoc89 In higher ranks too. It's usually one is really good and the other goes 0-27. I don't know what's up with that, but it feels like it's every game.
@@QrowxClover the worst part is, people think tank diff is what determines games. But in reality if you think about it, if tanks are for the most part even or close and not totally brainless. It comes down to which DPS are going to land their picks and who is going to look like they are having a seizure trying to aim 🤣🤣.
You should redo the easiest to hardest video! There have been a bunch of changes to the game and to the heroes since ow1 and I feel like it’d be interesting to see your thoughts!
Moira has been my main for a very long time. Mostly because, cards on the table , I’m not the best aim on console but I can survive and am a great at orbs and keeping my team alive so at least there’s that I guess?
I'm kinda curious. As far as I can tell, every high ranking Moira player plays DPS Moira. Every Moira tutorial says that DPS Moira is a legit way to play Moira. I get that and I agree with that. What I'm curious about, are there any other high-ranking ways to play Moira? If we consider high-rankingness alone to be the measure of the correctness of a playstyle, is DPS Moira a "legit" playstyle (i.e. one among many) or is it _the_ playstyle?
dps moira by defualt, healbot moira if u have the optimal heal moira rush comp (something like ram/mei/reaper or soj/lucio or mauga/sombra/reaper/lucio or kiriko)
