The thing that got me the most about Billy was that one single tear at the end of his monologue to El in her dream state at Hoppers cabin. To me that was such poignant representation of his true character and personality which was only briefly touched on in season 2. The whole idea of someone else controlling his life, first his dad then the Mindflayer. And when El freed him of the darkness he became a hero in the only way he could. By giving his life. Billy is an oddly unsung hero. Just my two pence.

Wouldn’t be surprised if Charlie ended up being cast as an 80s stoner in stranger things 4. As an extra.

Good show, but I found the part in the middle where the boys ordered gamer girl bath water to be a bit out of place. I know they are gamers but that was unecessary imo

I believe that Will's role, at least at the first few episodes, was to be left out. He is the ony ome whlithout a girlfriend, his friends won't play D&D with him, and he's just there wishing all things went back to the way they were. He got the feels, man.

I think the point of the sexual conflict with Ms.Wheeler and Billy was to bring billy to the Steele factory and they needed a reason for him to be there

One thing I will say about Billy and Mike's mom, is that he told Mike's mom to stay away from him, but then he immediately took Heather to the Mind Flayer. To me that says something about Billy's character. Bc the mind flayer said, "Smash her face into the wall" (which we see in a vision), but instead he told her to stay away. That's the one moment he actually fought back. Could, fight back. Not trying to defend that arc other than that I think it adds more depth to Billy's character. Also, I agree about Will. His character arc hasn't gone anywhere since he's come back

You now owe us an entire episode about Alexei due to the fact that you did not mention him.

That scene where Will destroys Castle Byers is pretty emotional to me and shows how Will is struggling dealing with the time he has lost being a kid while his friends have grown up without him. They emphasize that a bit during the season with Will's character

Cr1tikal, you’re forgetting the scene where mikes mom goes up to billy in the lifeguard room and apologizes for flaking on him then he spazes out & tells her to stay away from him. This scene was crucial to show he was having a mental battle against the flayer, he thought about smashing her head but decided against it which obviously drained a lot of energy from him as he could barely stand on his way out. Showing that fighting the mind flayer’s mind control was very hard to do

Anyone else feel like they dropped Will's storyline in Season 3 too soon? After his huge role in the last season, this felt like a step-down as they could've done some interesting stuff with Will and the pains of leaving your childhood behind.

That scene where Will woke up early and was excited to play d&d and was shut down by Mike and Lucas broke my heart. Especially when a bit after, he tore down all pf his memories, sadly moving on and catching up with his age. It makes me so sad how Will was constantly getting shut down by his best friends until he was forced to get rid of most things he loved

I liked it when they tried to play it off as 3 months even though Mike is clearly half foot taller.

I'm disappointed we didn't get more lore. Since season 1 we have learned nothing about the upside down; season 1 was more intriguing because we were finding out what was going on along with the protagonists.

I think the whole scene between billy and mikes mom was supposed to show that billy didn’t kill mikes mom, which showed that he wasn’t fully controlled by the mind flare yet. Later, it shows that he has lost control when he sacrifices the lifeguard. The two scenes were used to signify Billy’s control over himself.

Not certain of this, but I think the Billy and Karen storyline was all a setup for the one scene where he imagines knocking her out, but in reality tells her to get away. I believe it’s to show that he can still care, that he isn’t just a pawn of the Mind Flayer. This, in turn, leads to Billy’s final scene where he betrays the Mind Flayer. The chemicals and fertiliser thing was about creating chemical reactions (in order to liquify), which they do mention, but it’s a stupid part of the story imo.

Charlie the people were eating chemicals as components for the mind flayers body. At some point they said mixing chemicals with other chemicals makes new chemicals. That's what they were trying to say. They were changing their bodies into the blob things

Season 3 also doubles as an unnecessary epilepsy test. Holy crap I hated those strobe lights.

The flayed were eating chemicals so they could turn into meat soup more easily.

I think the billy and the mom thing was to foreshadow his mommy issues that are shown later in the season so it like saying he’s seeking the love he lost from his mom by trying to get with older women

I also thought the whole billy and mother of mike arc at the beginning didnt really make sense, until we learned a little bit about billys past and how he was left by his mother. I think thats maybe the reason he wants to be with a mother because he developed some kind of mother complex after he was left by his own mother.

I thought it was great but they could have showed a bit more of the conflict between billy and the mind flayer, the scenes where he’s crying or talking to max show that billy was still in there fighting against it

I feel like hopper had an amazing character change. I used to enjoy his silent serious badass self and when his personality changed i was quite mad. I guess i just assumed it was bad writing, but when he said that living with el had made him happier and that he had started feeling emotion again i could tell that there was reason behind the character change and it was beautiful.

I think Dustin, Steve, and Robin were absolutely amazing in this season. Great rapport and fun dialogue along with touching moments here and there. Made this season even more enjoyable

They were eating fertiliser and other chemicals to help the process of turning them into that gloop, they briefly explained a bit about chemical reactions changing something when they went to Heather’s parents house and chemicals are on the floor.

Dude, the plot of Billy and Mikes mom hooking up literally sets up the plot for the entire season. Mikes mom cancels without telling billy so billy continues on his way to the hotel where he crashes his car due to demadogs in the road and he gets dragged into the upside down where he’s possessed by the smoke demon thingy which is basically the plot of the entire season other than the Russians

I was extremely disappointed with Will’s character in this season. The actor of Will, Noah Schnapp, did a phenomenal job in Seasons 1 and 2. He was the high point of Season 2 and essentially the main character. For him to get shoved to the side after having some great character development and being a highlight of the show is just stupid. It seriously is! Other than that I would say this season was great. It gave characters like Steve Harrington and Billy and Robin a time to shine. All great dynamic characters throughout this season. Not to mention Hopper, the complete badass and probably best character in the series besides Will in my opinion.

The fertilizer and cleaning products and such were to give the mind flayer more energy. Either that or just for flavor.

Had the same problems with it (also alot of the "perfect timing" moments were very predictable) but think the mice were just to start the mind flayers body or some shit

i think the reason for the billy and mikes mom was to show how billy is popular and everyone looks at him with lust, jealousy or to be friends with him so they get popular, setting this down shows how billy could seduce people in anyway into the mind flayer in the basement, also its good because everyone notices something is wrong with him when he next goes to his job furthering on the story.

Moisty my boy. I was really hoping you were gonna expload on this season like those pointless rats. So many questions left unanswered, so much deus ex machina.... really felt like a spoof more than a continuation. Mall scenes were very good as you say. Did you notice in the last 3 minute of the final episode everyone said good bye and road off into the sunset only to teleport back in space and time for no apparant reason?

The Billy and Mike's mom thing was (I'm pretty sure) there to emphasise the fact that she is trapped in a loveless, soulless relationship and family life, and that she had bigger expectations for her life that she gave up, and a quick affair with some young muscly douche would have been an adventure and taste of "freedom". It shows just HOW unhappy she is with her marriage (understandably), and that there's more to her than just a stay-at-home housewife. That all comes later (kinda) into play again when she's talking to Nancy after Nancy got fired, and tells her that she has to finish the story and keep on fighting for what she deems right - instead of giving up on life and "settle" like her mom did. So in short it just expands her character and motivations to me, without taking up too much time. I liked it.

SPOILERS: since season three ends with will and his family moving away from hawkins with el, i think his character will get to have a big contribution next season. he’ll have lots of new problems to face: living in a new town, living with el, starting high school alone, etc. since it divides him from the rest of the boys, he’ll be able to get his own focus without being outshined and hopefully get fleshed out and become more prominent. he’s not my favorite character but i do really like him and think he’s got more potential for interesting plot lines in the future.

the letter at the end is one of the most emotional parts of the show. legit cried. I know he's probably alive at the end, but good lord that fucking letter as well as the music hit me so hard. best series so far of one of the best shows that netflix has produced, hell one of the best tv shows of the last part of the decade.

Will really needs more of an arc. He was showing that he was having trouble coping with no longer being a kid because he lost so much of his childhood into teen years by being in the upside down and then being one of the Flayed.

Felt more nostalgic for this season due to Netflix using a mall I used to go to all the time growing up for the mall in the show, it was nice seeing it busy and packed with people since It’s been dead for years

The relationship between Robin and Steve had to be my favorite part of the entire season, the fact that the entire time you think it’s building up to be a romantic one when in reality their platonic relationship is much stronger than any romantic one could ever be. Better see more of them in season 4
