WARNING: I am no longer recommending the Mokwheel brand. Based on my own experience and others, they company is very slow to provide support and to correct warrantee issues. New customer have waited 2-3 months to receive accessories that were promised. Some customers have unresolved maintenance and warranty problems. Although I think the bikes are great, buying would be risky in my opinion.

SO WHICH E BIKE BRAND WOULD YOU RECOMMEND

I got ours at a brick and mortar store. Johnny at Mokwheel Portland is awesome. Go to a store and then no need to deal with the company.

Good video. What you did with the stem straight up is very interesting. I have thought on a lot of these big E bikes that you can put a stem in backwards and have it Tipped back instead of forward. Haven’t tried it yet because I didn’t need it but thought it would still be an interesting idea. I started out with a large cloud 9. Seat. But as I put more and more miles on I found myself more comfortable on smaller seat.

Your video was the only one to mention you can change the top speed. Being able to cruise past 20 mph is a game changer.

Would love to see you show how to change the PAS power settings to make smoother takeoffs, and better slow speed handling.

I had a question about the handlebars. I have a Basalt ST and i also have raised them upward so i'm not leaning over so much. My question is, if i wanted to get more of a Cruiser type handlebar or something closer to the Mesa do you know of a company to refer that sells the correct size for the Basalt in that style?
@EbikeReviews
@EbikeReviews Год назад
Honestly, your best option is probably Amazon. You just need to pick the style and make sure the size is right. Off hand I don't know the size, I'm not sure if it might be stamped on the stem or handle bars. If you can't figure it out, I would ask support@mokwheel.com and see if they can tell you. Hope this was helpful.

No, don't loosen the sides. Its the single screw on the front of the head.

I need some suggestions for my Mokwheels Obsidian, the chain keeps popping off but it didn’t come with a chain guard like I see on your Basalt. Any recommendations?

can this bike fit a 26x2.5 wheel&tire if i wanted to make it lighter for commuting???
@EbikeReviews
@EbikeReviews Год назад
It can probably be modified to work. You may need some spacers on the axle to keep it from sliding around. You could look at the new Mokwheel Asphalt, its a commuter style bike.

Sir I have been enjoying the great Content you have on your channel. I Just received My Mokwheel Basalt ST and when going into the Speed Settings I had the Options to Increase the speed past 80 MPH. I did Not do this, but just set it on 30 MPH. Any suggestions?? I was wondering If I set to 70 Then What would it just max out at a certain number??
@EbikeReviews
@EbikeReviews 7 месяцев назад
You can usually set it to 99, it does not mean you will go 99mph, you will still only go the max speed for that motor/controller which is probably 28mph, sometimes a little more.

Love the review thank you. What the difference between the Basalt and the Basalt ST? My wife is 5’4” would she be on the shorter side for this bike?
@EbikeReviews
@EbikeReviews Год назад
ST only means its the "Step Thru" version, the other is the "Step Over". NO Your wife cannot ride the Basalt unless she doesn't want to touch the ground. A lot of people purchased the Basalt then sold them because they didn't realize how big it is. It is truly a very large bike. I nicknamed it the "Big Mans eBike". Some couple would buy one Basalt and one Scoria which works well, with one exception. Speed. The Basalt can max out at 28mph, the Scoria is limited to 25mph. However, must riding speeds average 15-20 mph so its fine for most people.

I have read online that changing the gears (like you said you want to change the 48 to a 52 tooth on the front gear) can cause problems with the motors (something about the motors being calibrated for the given gear ratios on the stock bike). You have any experience doing this? I have been eyeing this boke for a bit now, but the main thing holding me back is the ghost pedaling at high speeds. Great video too, by the way!
@EbikeReviews
@EbikeReviews Год назад
Thanks for the the question. I have not heard of this. I have a friend in my riding group that did change the front sprocket and he loves it and has not had any problems. I have considered doing it, but I am undecided if I will keep the bike. Mostly because I keep getting more bikes to review so its time to clear a few things out. It did just break down last weekend. Make sure you look for those videos and updates.

@EbikeReviews
@EbikeReviews Год назад
@@robertgiangregorio1018 Yes, but I try to look at it this way, we buy things all the time and sometimes something comes in broke. Now the real test is how they respond and so far its been pathetic. I'm no longer recommending the brand just because of how poor customer service is. But, the bikes are very impressive when they work.

It says max weight is 220 lbs. I am around 224-228 depending on the day and 6'4". Would it work?
@EbikeReviews
@EbikeReviews Год назад
The Basalt ST and step over both have payload of 400 lbs. I'm 240 and 6'1 and it zips me around just fine. There is still plenty of extension in the seat so you will be fine with your height. This is a "big mans" bike. I plan to do another video just for that topic. Its by far my favorite of all the bikes I looked at. You will not be disappointed with the bike. See if there is a dealer in your area and see if they have one you can test.

@EbikeReviews
@EbikeReviews Год назад
No I don' t have the Basalt with a thumb shifter so I can't say much about it. I do have bikes with them. I prefer the twist, but the thumb throttle isn't bad. If you discover you don't like it they can be changed fair easily.
