Mold - Mildew is something your clients do not want in their homes. Actually, it's something nobody wants in their home! Right? In these videos, you will learn how to clean and prevent it from happening. ru-vid.com/group/PLh1fKdNH3piQUfNWWOkSWv96helk9Z8Zq
Chemical sensitivity is a topic we were discussing at breakfast this morning. It is affecting our lives in so many ways. Thanks for watching and for your vote of confidence. 🙏
Your video helped me realize the tremendous opportunity. I watched a video on Profit Cleaners RU-vid Channel about starting and growing a 7-figure cleaning business. Then I saw your video showing the endless potential of the cleaning business! Thank you so much for this nice video 🙌🙌!
Hello from the UK. It's not only cleaning products that can cause irritation. For me, if mold spores are disturbed, they enter my lungs and make me very unwell. Fortunately, our home has very little damp but if some appears, my husband removes it. By the way, Angela I really find your vlogs informative and useful.
Ann, Thank you so much for your kind comment. Mold spores can be harmful but it sounds like you and your husband make a good team in removing them. Cheers!
Thanks. Mold and mildew make no judgements and attack every type of home. (Attics, crawl spaces, near plumbing, floor boards, showers/tubs etc.) We all need to be more aware.
LOL. Yes, I'm in Charlotte and thanks to humidity and pollen, we have green/yellow mold that has to be cleaned regularly from the bricks on the back side of our home and patio. Mold Belt Zone - I haven't heard that term but we're right in the middle of it.
Wow I just had a house cleaning yesterday with a ton of mold..Ths shower ceiling was spotted with mold too! I used Clorox clean up..was that ok to use?? The bathroom had no windows so I had to keep leaving out which was a time killer...I will use your advise for the near future! Also should I have charged more for that particular service? Or is that a part of a shower clean? Thanks Angela!! You are a LIFE SAVER!🚿🚽🛁
The shower ceiling having mold is of great concern. There may be traces of mold in the walls, behind the faucets, in the walls etc. Clorox will kill the surface mold but it will come right back with no open windows or ventilation. I recommend your client immediately invest in a dehumidifier to remove the moisture from the air during and after showers to slow the growth of mold. It could make the family very sick.
It's not exactly the same cause, but my respiratory system became very sensitive after several years of aggressive cancer treatment. It was worth it to get into remission, but I do not use most household cleaners now. I do almost all my cleaning using four things, in various combinations: water, bar soap, baking soda, and vinegar. Hydrogen peroxide for a few things. A bonus is that these tend to be a lot cheaper than getting an oven cleaner, a floor cleaner, a spray-on surface cleaner, a carpet deodorizer, a toilet bowl cleaner, scouring powder, etc. etc. etc. And the hydrogen peroxide I can get through my health insurance benefit for over-the-counter medical supplies.
Great information especially for people with allergies/illnesses. I am going to try the hydrogen peroxide suggestions. Thanks you always are a good source for cleaning information!
This is excellent information; thank you so much! I get very bad migraines trigged by various cleaning products so for years I used vinegar, but recently it has also been bothering me. I’m going to try a steamer and hydrogen peroxide.
Thanks. This is a serious topic because so many people have "allergies" that can be traced back to mold. Removing the mold and preventing it's return often does wonders to heal the allergies.
Thank you. It's warming up outside and humidity is seeping in through doors and windows and wreaking hidden havoc in the damp dark places of our homes.
My neighbor has told me she has mold on her bathroom wall. She doesn't have OCD regarding cleaning as I do. But she does have all the symptoms mentioned and three dog's. I wish there was a kind way I could express my concerns without offending her.
We are very smell sensitive. I clean with strong vodka. I dilute 1-5 parts then add distilled water. This is my multi purpose cleaner as there is no smell. If i must use more i use castile soap. Baking soda or vinegar and open the windows
@@AskAngelaBrown i buy a cheap bottle at the liquor store. Not a fancy brand. Just very strong and clear not flavor. I dilute and use it to spray my surfaces. It lasts a long time. I also use my home made collodial silver to spray and kill germs. It can kill viruses and e coli with no smell
This video was very helpful, thank you for covering mold and mildew! I have a new client who deals with quite a bit of moister in their master bathroom. There is black mold, and Ive done my best with bleach to clean it out and unable to get a steamer at such and early stage in growing my business. Other than the hydrogen peroxide sprays, what else can the client use to reduce the amount of moister in their bathroom? And, how do I get the black mold out if it is under the calking in the showers and windows? Any suggestions would be helpful! And thank you for sharing on this topic!
The client needs to pay attention to every shower they take. Open windows or turn on the ventilation fan. When getting out of the shower leave the shower door or curtain open so the tub/shower can air out. Squeegee the glass shower doors and floor to remove standing water. And then products like DampRid amzn.to/3uaoU2P or a dehumidifier amzn.to/32Zcq2d to suck moisture out of the air.
Vinegar kills mold! Bleach does not! Borax, Oxi-Clean, Odoban, and other products. It’s a huge process, so I suggest reading my comment above, but do your research!
Thanks so much for this video. Do you have any advice about removing the mildew smell from leather? I found a leather cap and purses deep in a closet where moisture had entered. In addition to needing to fix the moisture problem, I would like to save the leather items , if it's possible. Thanks again and have a wonderful day 😎
I love the question but don't have much personal experience with removing mold from leather. I did however find this article that made me go "hmmm". www.bmscat.com/2019/07/how-to-remove-mold-from-leather I will do some further research myself - and then we'll both know. :-)
Thanks. Mold and mildew are a more common problem than people assume. Being aware of the damage it can cause to your property and health can help one make swift choices.
+Classics of Design no, you can just leave it. It’s a spray and walk away item. The secret is to not put it on the faucets and hardware without monitoring it. If you have a coated faucet or a showerhead or drain, the hydrogen peroxide can eat away the finish. Just be careful with that and you should be okay.
Thank you! What would you recommend for old urine stains on the underneath toilet seat, I have tried all sorts of things incl bleach which I think has damaged the protective layer. Many Thanks! Products which are available in the UK please if possible 😊
You're welcome and thanks for watching! To remove old urine stains from the underside of a toilet seat, you can try using a mixture of equal parts white vinegar and water or a paste made from baking soda and water. Apply the solution or paste to the stains, let it sit, then scrub gently and rinse. Additionally, you can consider using a specialized toilet bowl cleaner formulated for stain and odor removal. Follow the product instructions and ensure proper ventilation. Look for UK-available options like Harpic Power Plus or Domestos Toilet Cleaner. If you feel like the toiled seat has been damaged and that nothing is working, it may be best to consider a replacement.
Do dehumifers and air purfier both kill mold spores and mold or slow down mold and mold spores I have mold and use dehumifers and I have plug in air purfier also do they both work and are they both worth using I use small dehumifers with beads In them
Dehumidifiers remove moisture from the air. And since mold grows in humid climates removing the moisture can reduce the mold. Air air purifiers (depending on the technology) can remove airborne contaminants including mold spores from the air. But neither will kill surface mold. Both will help tremendously though in improving the quality of your home and the air you breathe.
@@AskAngelaBrownhi Angela ok does that mean the small dehumifers I use are pulling moisture from mold I have and slowing down the mold and stopping mold from spreading also should I still continue using small dehumifers I use I use small dehumifers as they cheap whereas big dehumifers are expensive
This is so important! I had to have my entire bathroom gutted due to mold behind the shower walls. Do you have any resources for dealing with serratia marcescens, the bacteria that appears in the bathtub as a pink film?
Oh no, that is horrible news and quite expensive. Were you able to prevent it from returning? We haven't done a video on serratia marcescens specifically. There are thousands of types of mold and bacteria - none of which we want in our showers or tubs. Our big focus is to keep the soap scum and mildew/mold at bay. Here is a maintenance cleaning video we did to keep the shower clean ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-F3P0GnzfV38.html
How are you using the Lysol spray now? Yes, you can substitute HP. Make sure your shower is clean. After your shower rinse the walls to remove soap and any residue from the shower. Squeegee the walls and floor and then spray the walls with HP.
@@AskAngelaBrown yeah i do squeegee my shower after i use it. And spray lysol. It works so far no mold or soap scum in it. Im worried that lysol might destroy my showrr finish
I have reactatory air way disease and athma.I can't stand any smells of perfumesor cleaners. If I go into a store I have to wear a mask if I don't I'll get dizzy and will faint. So my house cleaner has to use vinegar and water.
Your safety should be a top priority, and cleaning areas with black mold can pose health risks. If you're not provided with proper protective equipment like respirators, it's reasonable to express your concerns to your employer and request suitable safety gear.
I sprayed cillt bang(hydrochloride)on the mould and wiped it off with kitchen roll, but now ive got a sore throat and still smell cillit bang in my room….i need to know is it toxic to breathe in the smell of it? I’ve left the windows open all day but still strong smell and im worried is it dangerous??
Oh no! I am so sorry about that. Here is a link to the safety data sheet: cdn3.evostore.io/documents/spicers/coshh_139628.pdf You’ll find a phone number on the sds that you can call for advice. Keep me updated on how you are doing.
Angels , can mold cause sneezing and allergies ??? Such as if mold is in your shower and the steam causes the mold particles to rise up and enter your nostrils ??
Thank you for your question! Yes, mold can indeed trigger sneezing and allergies. Mold produces tiny airborne spores that, when inhaled, can irritate the nasal passages and lead to allergic reactions
Hi. Hydrogen Peroxide is mildly acidic, and prolonged exposure to acidic substances can cause etching (dull spots or marks) on the surface of the marble. To clean marble safely it's best to use pH-neutral and non-abrasive cleaners specifically formulated for marble. They are gentle and won't harm the surface or cause damage. Hope this helps! 😊
When it comes to using hydrogen peroxide on marble shower and floors, caution is advised. Marble is a delicate and porous natural stone that can be sensitive to certain cleaning agents, including hydrogen peroxide. While hydrogen peroxide is known for its disinfecting properties, its acidic nature can potentially cause damage to marble surfaces, leading to etching, discoloration, or dulling of the finish. It is recommended to avoid using hydrogen peroxide directly on marble. Instead, opt for a pH-neutral, non-abrasive cleaner specifically formulated for marble surfaces. These cleaners are designed to effectively clean marble while preserving its natural beauty. Prior to using any cleaner, it is always wise to test it on a small, inconspicuous area of the marble surface to ensure compatibility and avoid any unwanted damage. Regular maintenance and promptly wiping up spills can help maintain the shine and longevity of your marble shower and floors.
Are you talking cultured marble? Cultured marble is approximately 75% marble dust, mixed with a liquid polyester which creates its resin like structure that you see in most homes in bathroom vanities. Yes, hydrogen peroxide 3% is safe to use on both cultured marble and travertine tile since it it's pH level sits around 6 on the pH scale (7 is neutral). Hydrogen peroxide 3% is the common version you find in the brown bottle in most stores - and that is 3% (meaning the other 97% of the bottle is water.)
Anyone know where to buy ionized water ? Is it labeled as such or is it called “alkalized” water ? I only see a link to the water ionizer but I am only interested in buying already ionized water which seems pretty reasonable in cost .
Thanks so much Angela!! But so I look for the drinking water variety that is labeled “Alkaline”? I have not seen anything labeled as ionized water for cleaning in the cleaning supplies section. … Also , can you recommend which mold testing kit you would use for testing to see if there is (invisible) mold inside a car ? Please ? I’m being driven crazy by a constant runny nose and sneezing inside the car but not sure if it’s due to dust or mold or both . I have a few times spilled lots of water onto the floor carpets of the car but I don’t see any visible mold and I’ve already changed the car cabin filter without it helping much . 😢
No, Bissell is not a client of ours. We would love to have them as one though. :-) Savvy Cleaner and Hoarding World and Life Long Productions are paying for most of our shows.
