This tutorial covers making molds using epoxy and syntactic dough.
It is great for production molds or anything that will require multiple pulls out of foam latex, silicone, gelatin or many other materials.

I have never used this epoxy system before and was looking to give it a try . Smooth On is just not such a popular brand in the UK but I have had many friends who rave about it. I am watching all your videos even if I think I know exactly what you are doing for the exact reason you stated in this video. What I gained from this was also watching how cleanly and economically you work. I can see your experience showing in the quality of what you do. Some people say don't pay attention to RU-vid videos for anything but here is one clear example of why I think this is not true. Thank you for your channel mate

You might already know this, but the reason the epoxy doesn't really work with the matte is because the fibers are held together with styrene, which polyester resin also contains, which dissolves the styrene in the matte and loosens the fibers. It's just so it can be stored flat but still conform when activated.

@@toxicimagestudios9547 I figured, I just wanted to sound smart :) I appreciate you not cutting these videos down, it really helps to get a feel for how long these things *should* take to do.

Andyfilms I get criticism because the videos are so long. I think it’s important to cover all the relevant information. If I did a bunch of short 10-15 minute videos I would probably get more views, but I would rather not do that

@@toxicimagestudios9547 No way, you're 100% correct. "Here's one I baked earlier" tutorials result in me either rushing through it because I think it's supposed to take 1/4 the time it actually does, or me feeling totally inept because it's taking longer than it looked in the video. Anyone can figure out the basics of a process by just messing around. It's the subtleties of the techniques that are the real value, and to get that, you have to see the whole process.

@@toxicimagestudios9547 Also, I don't know if you've played around with Freekote Lifft at all, but it kind of changed my life. Basically eliminates the step of cleaning clay out of molds, and in a lot of cases the sculpts come out so clean they can be remolded if necessary.
