That flop is bananas! Did you cut and buff? Smooth as glass! Great job guys. Hope he got a flat fuel door painted too, or at least the missing retainer clip. I’d consider different bumpers but 6OC uses RS bumpers. Dang, this is inspiring me to make more financial mistakes!
The finish is straight out of the gun, i will be seeing it in spring once cured for a de nib and polish. For the fuel door The clip wont reach the latch as it is. You could use the sport bumper as well. But yes they typically meant for the standard bumpers, however they dont really just fit as you seen. But easy fix
They were pretty simple, a clean cut along bottom to reach top of rockers pinch weld. So the pinch weld still protrudes. Then bond the top flush with door sill and then it was easiest to sand top perfectly flat after it was bonded
@@TheSubieSanctuary Thanks man. The 2 main things i did to finesse it was mounting the front fenders outward where it mates to the bumper for better body flow. Also pushed out the rear quarters where they mate to the rocker for more flared look. Btw, Loving that colour u used on this car!
@@robertstaff ya definitely not the most conventional fitting kit. But with patience and some tricks can be made to fit real nice. Im still shocked yours was a 6oc, well done for sure
@@robertstaff would love to see some pics of yours man! This is actually my car and I gotta say Jesse and team absolutely killed it with this build. Can't wait to pick it up!
I have seen so many people try to use the 6ovrcrst kit and you have by far took it to highest lvl. It looks so clean and .... oem? usually those front fenders mate up like doodoo... they tell us to just pull the front bumper to force it on but it looks hideous. Can you further explain how you got that flush fitment and without it looking cheap?
no lie. I'm in the middle of debating whether to sell my gc8 or not but i can make this kit (which is still sitting in it's box) look as good as yours... I'm definitely keeping it!
Thanks brother, for the front bumper we actually cut a small pie cut out of bumper and mended it back together. Made the cut near the furthest back mounting point to fender. I feel like mention it in vid but cant recall. Once placing bumper on it was obvious that it needed modification or else your correct it would have looked like poop. This did turn out incredible for the 6oc kit, I believe as well possible one of the best fit of this kit. It was a lot of work to make it look so clean but definitely was worth the effort.
Yes actually! I know i missed showing those in this vid. We used some plastic stuff, cut to shape, mounted as high as we could in wheel well to keep room for wheel rebound, then riveted in place and seam sealed for weather proof
@@TheSubieSanctuary ah makes sense. I was looking at how smooth the filler looked when he was doing the tramsition. So that panel bond sands like a filler when dry?
Not bad for our temperature at the time. One issue i found molding on a plastic kit. The static of the plastic! Got a lot of nibs on the quarters due to the static. Nothing i cant knock down and polish. It had made me look into anti static guns only to find out they are like $2k 😭 overall, definitely a nice finish.
You guys did an awesome job on this! Quick question- I'm currently going through this same process with my GC and am wondering how you guys mounted the side skirts. Did you just bond them the same way then mold it with fiberglass?
It was a lot of work, id say excluding rust repair and dents (because they range so much depending on car) probably about 160 hrs start to finish with a complete dissemble for a proper paint. An abw or launsport would be less hours to install since bumpers and front end just bolt up
@@KDD8 not too bad considering our rate. Overall job is about the same cost as most shops good paint jobs. Get us making money on youtube and id just do these jobs for nothing to make videos 🙌
