I explain how I decide how much solution to make up, show you how I calculate how much compound to weigh out and show you how I make up the solutions for a sulfite buffer. Along the way, I get my ratio wrong, lose 2 hours of video footage, and spill my accurately weighed compound - sheer professionalism.

Amazing channel. I really appreciate you taking the time to continue to educate freely for interested explorers into chemistry. (Myself being a new chemistry student and loving it). And I have to ask, you mentioned asking if anyone has any idea why your channel Is called 326 , I'm wondering if it's because your a CHEM 326 PHYSICAL CHEM TEACHER!! Am I right or wrong? 😊

you talking about the buffer going bad reminds me of the time I was trying to find the strength of my old HCl through titration. I knew the strength had gone down but for some reason the math said it had gone up! Turns out that the NaOH I was making a solution with had a leaky cap and the moisture had gotten in turning a bunch of my NaOH crystals into carbonate. I just had a frustrated laugh and moved on with it

Do you know a cheap labelling system to mark reagent bottles with details and is alcohol resistant, but has to be erased and changed frequently?

Well it also depends a bit on what surface you're writing on. I don't know of any completely alcohol-resistant ink that is also easy to remove but I use a xylene-based permanent marker on glass and that's reasonably resistant against alcohol (comes off easily with acetone). It's just a normal permanent marker you can buy in any convenience store. Be careful not to do what I did, though, and think you're writing on glass when it's actually acetate - acetone goes right through that stuff!
