i just wanna say, i'm kind of obsessed with your videos and journals. been binging your videos, i love how down to earth they are. cozy, uncomplicated content. i love it
Oh my goodness. I have a pocket daily from the sale, and IM OBSESSED. it’s perfect for my needs, and I wouldn’t have gotten it if you hadn’t shared that it’s okay to black out the day of the week. Thank youuuuuuuuuuuuu
I purchased four 2024 Moleskine Daily pocket size planners when they were on sale for $4 and each one of them has great paper. My favorite pen to use on Moleskine paper is the Sarasa Gel .07- Looks great. ❤
My 18 months daily diary 24-25 is a trooper! I have tested inks, write with writer's blood, have used wet on wet watercolour 4 times over (while all the layers are still wet) and nothing bleeds through. Orange sticker, made in Turkey.
So I'm with you! I picked up a hard cover 2024 Daily Journal in red on Amazon for about $9. I'm not a fan of the hard cover or the RED...however, I tested it today with 3 of my wetter Diamine fountain pen inks in a fine nib pen and SHOCKER, no bleed through! I was so thrilled. It is a blue quality control, made in China. I'm going to use it as 5 year journal since the Hobonichi 5 year is having some paper issues. I can just make my own. Thanks for the inspiration and encouragement to think outside the box. ❤
Excellent video! I loved how close up you got the camera to really see the beautiful ink colors you tested! You really have me thinking of getting a Moleskine expanded as my everyday carry. My husband and I have been doing so much travel, and I have my journals and experiences in so many different notebooks. I also love that you mentioned how you love that ballpoint pen, and that you should use whatever pen you love, despite the naysayers. I have a hard time writing, physically. It takes me longer to write than most people. So, I LOVE the Sarasa Clip in .5. I have so many of these pens. They are my go to for everything. My favorite color are the grey tones, even over black. Thank you for the video!
I love watching your excitement on Moleskine notebooks 😊 I didn't use them for years now. I still love the weird sizing of the classic, but I use fountain pens almost exclusively. Even when I doodle/splash ink and make messes all over my pages. So you can understand why I stay away from the brand since the paper quality became less then average. But I found myself getting an expanded the other day (it has the dark yellow sticker 🎉) so I'll try it again. But the trouble is that I prefer broader nibs.. so we'll see how it works out. And maybe if the paper did get better for FPs as you suggest, I would love to get back to that beautifully weird sized notebook that I used to love ages ago
@@muallaemine the dark yellow sticker is a good sign!! My third Expanded arrived last night (dark yellow sticker as well), and my juicy M nib with Writer’s Blood held up beautifully!! Crossing my fingers for you that the paper works out well!! Please keep me updated🫶🩷
I am currently using a Moleskine expanded ( yellow sticker ) and found the Papetmate Ink joy gel pens are the perfect match…they glide over the paper with such ease, so smoothe!
Can confirm, I got the plain expanded notebook a couple of months ago and I got the good paper. Also had the light yellow sticker. Unfortunately, sales on Moleskine’s is not a thing in Australia. I had to pay full price. Love the notebook but it STINGS!!!
I checked my blank Moleskine from 2020 and the sticker is a salmon color. No clue what this means! Also, I'm an advocate for Moleskine. Something I was thinking about is how if you watercolor paint on copy paper, the paper will rip. In a Moleskine, the paper is strong and will not rip. I think that's why it's considered an art journal? I don't know the logic, but I really like it. These notebooks definitely feel like home.
I got so many from the 2024 sale so I’m not going to get the expended. But I’m so happy you found good paper. All of my 2024 sale moleskines are blue sticker and dont bleed at all. ⭐️ Im very happy. I love love these long videos and it feels like home to hear/chat about moleskines. Can you update us on if the one that comes in the mail is still good quality?
I tried it one for the both of us and got a BAD one so good choice not to try. 😅 It was a toothy dry feeling paper (weird to say). It absorbed the ink so quickly, feathered everywhere, and bleed horribly. Lesson learned stick with the cheaper ones. 😂
@@itssammierose It happens, I guess, lesson learned on my part. I will gift it to a friend who just uses ballpoint and for notes for work. 🤣 It will have a home and be used.
I bought a Large from the Amazon clearance sale you told us about and although it was intended for me to repurpose it for 2025, I’ve started using it 😅Enjoying it so so much. The day to page continues to be my most loved format and I get to divide the page up into the relevant sections as needed for work. It performs well with my F nib fountain pens but I am a Medium and Broad nib girly and those bled through quite a bit. I had the blue QC sticker.
I have learned to buy them in person to be able to get the good paper. The fountain pen “friendly” paper is very beige/cream toned. I have gotten a few from Barnes and noble like that. I just go through their whole stash comparing the color of the paper and only buy the ones that have the beige/cream paper. If I can’t find one I just pass. I have noticed, at least at my local B&N they are usually the ones with a hard cover. I am yet to find a soft cover with good quality paper.
Interesting observation! Thanks for sharing! Yes, the soft cover were the "worst" in my experince as well. That's what my last 5 Moleskine Expanded softcovers totally took me by surprise! All inks came out well!
Im sorry, I have bad news. I got the soft cover plain expanded notebook in July and its a bad one, I can only use it to glue things... Before I had gotten the daily pocket and its so much better.
Cautionary tale: I used the link in the video and amazon sent me one of the ones that are awful for bleed. I had to return it. No shade on your video of course; you cautioned about it, but damn moleskine is awful for consistency. I couldn't even write on these pages with anything other than a pencil because the bleed through was so bad. So kudos to you for giving the heads up!
I definitely think it depends on personal use - what kind of notebook is ‘good’ or not. I collage a lot of- so I’m not really looking for the best paper - rather that the notebook holds up to being chunky!
