The costume drama series, Downton Abbey, written and created by Oscar-winning writer Julian Fellowes, stars Academy Award-winner Maggie Smith as a Dowager Countess of an Edwardian English country house in 1912. Didnt he sort out the Dowager giving him 30 pounds to pay his debts? And later in the movies he encouraged Miss Baxter to accept Molesly's proposal. He never even held the fact that Molesly once fancied Anna against him.

I can’t believe Carson’s attitude towards Molesly not wanting to work as a footman, after he’s a trained valet and butler. I very much doubt Carson would jump at the chance to reverse his career in such a way.

The scene with Mr. Molesley's wild dance was surpassed only by the scene where he "curtseys" to the King and Queen. I HATED how Lady Violet's butler (I forgot his name; senior moment!) interfered with Molesley's chance to get a job as Lady Shackleton's new butler. Molesley's life took a different turn after that. Good thing it got back on track by the end of the series when he got the job as a teacher.

I love how, in ”A New Era”, Lady Mary mentions (just in passing) to the film producer that Molesley ”used to be a hall boy”, when his character started out as a valet for mr Matthew Crawley. Bec… Well, I doubt a widow would have forgotten that, IF this had been actual events rather than fiction 😂! There are a few plot holes in that second movie, including how the farm is cramped for a mere 3 people when it used to fit a family with many, MANY kids just fine. My favourite (&most recent) find with the ”New Era” movie is that QEII’s retired yacht were used for filming the Dover-Calais crossing. Just lovely!

The part where Pratt screams at Mosely and all the women at the table act like he didn't was one of the few bits that didn't work in this entire series. When someone in a room screams you don't blame the guy that reacts to the scream. Absurd.

Amazing to always see hierarchy and jealousy is so strong between people who should be solidaire and not loose their common interest to help each other. Where's the loving kindness between these butlers, footmen etc. Get sick of it, like the sisters hating each other for being happy, wishing each other misfortunes and helping destiny if catastrophes don't hit their rivals fast enough. Each one ploughing the heavy earth deeply to get the other imprimons in the deep soir a.s.a.p. There is no need for it, as there is wealth. Enough food. True loberation, my dear fellow humans, lies in liberating oneself from earthly pleasures and enviousness. Equanimity..

It's called competition. It's bred into us throughout the ages - those who worry and fret about their relative position ended up with more resources to survive and have children, and those children inherited the behavior patterns.

Not really, the young fools are drunkards - servants are not allowed to get drunk on duty and better not to get drunk in view off duty either, The young all over the EU are the same re drinking - except the USA - where they are more likely to become addicted to a drug laced with fentanyl.
