Yes they can. Unfortunately the fry will be infertile

I remember when I was a teanager I breed a male black molly to a extra large green sailfin molly, and got about thirty fry, that grew up and they looked green with black dalmation spots and the males had a small sailfin, they all looked strong and healthy and we're of a medium size of three inchs. I may do it again one day.

Mike, you have me going again! I am adding crushed coral to aquariums in hopes of keeping some lifebearers. I love Mollies anyway but while I have high GH ( over 300TDS) My KH can be only 2. I defiately do not want imports. Too many issues. Thank you!

Agreed Carole. It’s definitely important to find local or hobbyist bred stock. You’ll be in a lot better place.

Hey there! I was wondering, how does one find the difference between mollies from a latipinna ancestor and mollies from a velifera ancestor other than their size ?

Honestly unless it from a know source it would be kind of difficult. The velifera can be distinguished from the latipinna by their greater size and horizontal stripes along their sides.

What colors do you get crosin yellow males mollys and White or marmolad females?

Not really sure, you would have to do some research on pundit squares. I think it's something like 25% yellow, 25% white, 50% mixed. Could be wrong though.

Hey man I live in Florida and I see sail fins all the time. To this day I have never seen them in salt or brackish water at least in my area I’ve seen them in the most acidic, Tanic, and soft water in my area so to be honest at least in my experience, if they are wild caught, they can take most water parameters

Not 100% sure. Yes they will breed together I did a quick search and it wasn’t 100% sure on what you would get once you mated them together.

Hey so I wanted to breed a molly I have, I have a bunch of females and 1 male, would putting 2 females and a male in a tub work? Or do they need more space??

You should be fine with a male and 2 females in a tub. I am assuming it’s an average sized tub

I know how guppies are on fry (they hold for their fry for 3-6 mons & drop a batch every month without breeding a male) are molly's the same way known as prolific breeders ?

@@FishTankBarn So once they breed "Mollies" they hold for a drop of fry every month from 1 mating ? I sure hope I have 3 females & no males.
