One of the most underrated bands that's ever been . Danny J Brown had one of the best voices and I've never heard anybody come close to singing his songs like him . Certainly gone way to soon.

Steve Holland swapping lead licks with Dave Hlubek and Duane Roland. Sadly, Steve is now gone. As of August 2020, all the original band members have passed away but their music still lives on in our car stereos, I Pods, smartphones, computers, and in our hearts.

This is bittersweet to watch. Knowing everyone on stage here is gone is a punch to the gut and a half. But those leads going back and forth between the three guitarists? Absolute perfection to absurd levels. And Hlubek's energy here is channeling the rock gods themselves. Rock in Peace to a full line up of greats across the board, even those not represented in this vid such as Banner Thomas. For those about to rock... We salute you.

Being a Florida boy I can relate. I grew up seeing the guys play live and now I can only reminisce about how much fun it was to go to a Molly Hatchet with Danny Joe Manning the vocals. Those were the days! Also deeply missed as Stranger band who opened for these guys and the Outlaws many a time. All those old bands are no more and it SUCKS!

@@TheYamahog12 Actually The Outlaws was who I was originally going to see. But I got the added bonus of walking away a Molly Hatchet fan as well. Huey Thomason was a great singer/guitarist without question. I just loved that guitar Army attack all those bands employed back then. Those were the days for sure.

I picked up their first album, soon after it was released, primarily because of the cover art. I quickly loved the album and couldn't wait for the next album release. I wasn't disappointed!!! To this day, their first 3 albums are still among my favorites - I usually play one of them every Friday afternoon on my office computer to celebrate the last workday of the week. A great way to start the weekend!

So lucky by a total fluke that I got to see them in Cincinnati at Riverfront Colosseum when I was 10 years old on the flirting with disaster tour and they were my absolute favorite band at the time. I was already deep into music because of my family, listening to Jimi Hendrix when I was five years old started it all it’s terrible that everyone is gone. I don’t know if they just pushed the excess life farther than other bands or what but I feel extremely fortunate that I got to see them.

growing up in the jacksonville, fla + orange park, fla area during this time period was one the best times of my life! i was a young girl, around 10 at the time, when i met the members of this band along with all the members in Lynyrd Skynyrd in a smokey pool hall during a weekend when my dad had my baby sis and i for his weekly visitation (parents divorced in the early 70's). back in those days, jacksonville beach pier and boardwalk were the bomb -- extremely carefree, never felt scared or in harms way, and people were more engaged with each other. it's a fond memory my sis and i still talk about as this is not something today's generations will ever understand or experience. unfortunately, soon thereafter, either months later or maybe a year, we experienced the loss of elvis presley (16 Aug 1977), some members of lynyrd skynyrd (20 Oct 1977) and my dear dad (30 Sep 1977).

You know a lot of people have diabetes and live long lives. I think the truth is that DJB liked to drink and you can't drink alcohol when you have diabetes. Plus DJB was fat and then lost a lot of weight and got very RIPPED. I would suspect that he dabbled in steroids as well. There is at least one video here online of Molly Hatchet and Danny is so obviously stoned, or maybe he was drunk but he looked to be stoned. I mean, if Dave Hlubek can live a long life as a morbidly obese man then why did Danny have such terrible health? DJB literally transformed his body so the man was actively doing things to change his body. But diabetes DOES NOT PLAY. Rest in Peace DJB!!!!
