Hello MommaTaunT ! Nightwish fan here, your musical quest summoned me. Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band! This live recording is from Wacken Open Air 2013, together with Floor Jansen [pronounced Yansen], the 3rd and present female singer of the band, in front of an 82K audience. About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners. Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory): " Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen [pronounced Tuo-mas], the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [The 1st Bassist of the band was Sami Vanska, he was with them until 2001. The 2nd one was Marco Hietala, as Bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least. Then in May 2021 Jukka Koskinen [pronounced Yukka] became the 3nd Bassist of the band, for the Human :II: Nature tour - and recently, the band announced he became a permanent member] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen [pronounced Yukka] is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen [pronounced Tarr-ya] (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her. There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). It's extra special hearing that you're Dutch, because it's a weird dichotomy that Floor is pretty world famous, but relatively unknown in her home country (especially before Beste Zangers). She's talked about that many times, so it's great to experience someone from her country discovering her. The singer Floor was reportedly diagnosed with breast cancer, 😢 but the prognosis is said to be good, we will see, I wish her all the best I love her singing...

Sadly most people think on harsh screaming and fast loud guitar sound when they think of Heavy Metal, but Metall is much more, there are thousends of Sub Genres. Floor Jansen was inspiree by Anneke van Giersbergen (former Band was The Gathering at the time Floor see her singing in a Metall Band), also a dutch Metal Queen, like Sharon den Adel of Within Temptation and Simon Simons of Epica. welcome to the fantastic symphonic metal universe of Nightwish Band, their live performances are some of the things that come so close to epic that they get to be mythical and of course Floor Jansen, queen of the stage and goddess of music, she can sing anything in any musical style she wants (WARNING! her voice, her stage presence, her charisma, in one word: her "spell" is highly addictive). this concert (wacken 2013) is incredibly epic and deserves to be watched and reacted entirely, song by song, in particular I suggest these three songs: "song of myself", "storytime" and "ever dream" this performance of "ghost love score" is one of the three best performances of the nightwish band, together with "the poet and the pendulum" from 2015 concert at the london wembley arena and "the greatest show on earth" from 2015 concert in tampere - finland (actually there is a fourth best performance: "dead boy's poem" from the 2018 concert in buenos aires).

But there is so much more metal that is every other emotion, every other passion, with so many different influences. It's a beautiful and very broad genre of music. World of music, even. Floor wordt door de fan's ook wel de Valkyrie Queen of Metal genoemd en dit is niet voor niks. Ze is zonder twijfel 1 van de meest veelzijdige (versatile) zangeres in de muziek industry vandaag de dag. Ze kan met recht alles zingen en dat doet ze ook geregeld laat ze wat zien. Ik ken Floor al vanaf dat ze jong was 17 toen ze in After Forever zat. Nu is Nederland best groot in de Metal maar dat is niet op de radio te horen dus voor de meeste mensen gaat deze gerne van muziek aan het grote publiek voorbij. While I've appreciated Floor's vocals for some two decades now, I never actually saw any live clip with her until I saw her with Nightwish for the first time a few years ago. I'm glad to see that you watched this. This whole concert is amazing. There aren't many bands I prefer to see live performances of, Nightwish however is one of those bands. Something about being on stage in front of people makes them play any of their songs so much better than they could if it was in the studio.

And I am also a surviver - so I know, as well as you do - what Floor and her family are going through the next months and years. But Floor is a remarkable person - so I'm not worried at all. And I would suggest that you seriously consider the go to one of Nightwish's up-coming concerts in Holland - they are an insane experience live - and in The Ziggy Dome I expect there will be a duet with Henk Port (Phantom of the Opera) - which they already did in Beste Zangers 2019. I am very happy for you in that you had a chance to experience the magic that we all in the Nightwish Army have. I've watched this video at least 100 plus times and I still get chills and emotional. I hope you react to other songs from this same live 2013 Wacken concert. It's always fun seeing other react to each song. None of the songs are the same and they each have their own story. No cookie cutter repeat stuff. It's amazing how good they sound live. That's a rarity in music since most bands don't sound as good as the studio recording when they perform live. I would recommend you listen to "Storytime then Romanticide followed by "Song of Myself" next and in that order, from the same concert. On a separate note, the Beste Zangers performance you mentioned of Phantom of the Opera with Henk Poort features Floor Jansen. Grab your tissues and enjoy. A whole constellation of Dutch female metal singers emerged in mid to late 90s, starting with Anneke van Giersbergen (The Gathering), then Sharon den Adel (WIthin Temptation), Floor (originally with After Forever), a little later Simone Simons (Epica) and Charlotte Wessels (Delain). All very distinctive sounding, all absolutely amazing and awesome, not to mention quite accessible. So if the Dutch angle piques your interest, there's quite a bit to explore and enjoy.

I LOVED this reaction, thank you! Please take a look at Gabriels list and just start going from start to finish :D Please, please, please do not go off from the list. It introduces various elements of Nightwish in a gentle manner, one at a time. And please do not be tempted to jump off from Nightwish and react to Floors other projects until you're deep into the list. Nightwish is her home. Her other music is excellent and powerful, but the Nightwish journey will provide you all kinds of weird experiences like symphonic metal, folk, sea shanty, classical, opera, dance, trash, and the list goes on. You will literally never know what the next song will bring. Gabriels list has a few places where 2-3 songs in a row are similar in style, but they're still excellent and introduce other elements of the band.

Hi Momma. As you can see, in the Netherlands we are robbed of our Dutch musical heritage. It's a crime we don't get to hear Floor sing on the radio each and every day! This was recorded 9 years ago and the majority of the people in the Netherlands have still NEVER heard ANY Nightwish song. I truly recommend to revisit Nightwish and react to Everdream. Momma T., My first time on your channel. Your selection is just fine. Floor is wonderful, such skill & talent. She owns the stage and crowd in this video...I love how she moves and her expressive hand movements. I have heard that she was trained in a style of opera that is just you and a piano.. Denk voor ballads aan kiss when you're lips are still red, Sleeping Sun en the Islander. Als je voor een ander lang nummer wil gaan denk aan de the greatest show on earth over het ontstaan van de aarde en het leven als mens daarop en zijn vergangkelijkheid. Geïnspireerd door Richard Dawkins. Weet waaraan je begint. Ik heb ervan gebaald dat ik pas in 2019 Nightwish heb leren kennen. This is symphonic metall. Your country have many of those bands actually. Floor herself started in Dutch symphonic metall band After Forever at age 16 in 97. And sang there untill they broke up 10 ish years after. Then in her own band Revamp untill Nightwish asked her over in 2012. Literary since they needed new singer mid tour in Us fall 2012. She did have full 48 hours included the flight time to learn the full set of songs thou 🤣❤️🇧🇻

There 's actually a beautiful song that Floor wrote ("Strong") that's about her mom who has suffered Chronic pain her entire life. It's about how her Mom for Floor's sake had always tried to hide the pain she was enduring. Emma Heesters sang it to Floor on Beste Zangers. Of course Gabriel’s list is great but I would also recommend the acoustic version of How’s the Heart (song about empathy). Floor is an amazing, empathetic storyteller. Nightwish are incredible, especially with Floor. There are a multitude of songs that Gabriel will give you (and you need to hear them all) but if you want a REALLY emotional song, you need to listen to Dead Boy's Poem live in Buenos Aires 2018. It makes me shed a tear and I'm a 52 year old bloke.

Floor is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Dutch female medal heads! Simone Simons (Epica), Sharon den Adel (Within Temptation), Charlotte Wessels (forever lead for Delain), among others!

Trust me, this is just the tip of the iceberg regarding both Nightwish and Floor's vocal talents. Great reaction.

Fantastische band, niet waar? Ik heb Nightwish en dit nummer als eens eerder aangeraden op het kanaal dat je samen met je zoon hebt. Super dat je de tijd genomen hebt er eens naar te luisteren en te kijken. Ik vond je reactie heel bijzonder. Het is immers een vrij gecompliceerd nummer. Het is absoluut de moeite waard verder in de discografie van Nightwish te duiken, omdat er ontzettend veel diversiteit in hun nummers zit en hun teksten prachtig poëtisch zijn. Ik zou je aanraden de lijst die je van Gabriel Bardac gekregen hebt erbij te nemen. Er staan genoeg suggesties op. Als je op zoek bent naar een prachtige ballad, zou ik je 'Sleeping Sun' aanraden of de al vaker genoemde 'Dead Boy's Poem'. Ik las dat je, net als Floor, te maken hebt gehad met borstkanker. Naar om dat te horen, maar hopelijk is dat verleden tijd voor je. Ik kijk uit naar je volgende reactie. Groetjes uit Enschede.

Momma T., I am so pleased that you are in remission. We/I will pray for you... On a side note my niece is only 32 and has had two (2) battles with this terrible disease. And now for the good part. She is pregnant and due in January.. A miracle?? I think not, just God showing us how he controls ALL. Stay strong and please take care. More Floor please!

It is really a pity that there are so many highly talented Dutch singers and bands the Dutch majority do not know only because there is the sign "metal" on them, e.g. Epica, Within Temptation, Dianne van Giersbergen, Anneke van Giersbergen, Arjen Lucassen (Ayreon) and others. If you want to watch Floor Jansen together with Epica (their singer Simone Simons also has a great voice and is a longtime good friend of Floor) watch "Sancta Terra" and "Stabat Mater Dolorosa" by Epica from the Retrospect Show.

I'm a 57 year young Hard Rocker from birth on 😃. Going to live shows and festivals from my 16th. Nightwish is just THE best band especially with Floor. I was at this festival in Wacken 2013, also THE best festival in the world (for me offcourse)......Once you hear Nightwish it's becoming an addiction 🤭. Next stop live again in Antwerp 20th November, can't wait 🤘 By the way, I never manage to keep it dry at their concerts and I'm mostly not alone then, just such an incredible band

YES, yes again a soul is taken by our Dutch Valkyrie Goddes of Metal, more Floor Jansen, watch the Beste Zangers 2019, she sings O Mio Babbino Caro and from the gamecube game Final Fantasy Chronicals Sound of the Wind. She is working on different projects of Ayreon too, Valley of the Queens and The Day The World Break Down are good ones to start with..
