She can handle him now, but couldnt control him , nor did she seek professional help after his previous assaults. This is not a parent this is a provider and an enabler.

He doesn't belong in a group home and she isn't able to manage. He is dangerous. He should of been in an secured unit. Society needs protected

He was pampered to the bone, had everything, and beat a woman nearly to death, mom and son need to wake up and ask for forgiveness.

If she thought she could manage him. How come she didn’t manage the incident which happened? She’s off. Way off. Sorry but he is accountable for his behavior and she IGNORED his lengthy history of violence.

She is the reason why he attacked the teacher's aide. If she doesn't know it, her son really, really hates her and any woman that tells him no, he will continue to be violent the rest of his life because of her.

This is a double-edged sword. To her, he is who he is because of his autism, but the reality is that he is a danger to society. The rules of society also dictate that one's rights cannot supersede the majority's right to safety.

The judge ordered him to have meds after a full assessment. The judge was thorough with what the defendant will be provided. The defendant is also intelligent and understands right from wrong. Was the mother listening during sentencing?

I saw FIVE year's? BUT the video I saw showed he would have killed her if SEVERAL people didn't intervene. Look up the SIZE/WEIGHT of this "child"? He's 18 - SIX FOOT SEVEN (6'7") AND 270 pound's! With his EXPLOSIVE temper he should NEVER been in this school to begin with. I work with special need's individuals and this DOES NOT mean THEY are the vulnerable - sorry to say but some conditions make them VERY dangerous. I say this a worker who was attached and did NOT quit working for the autistic adult man who attacked me... after a couple year's I did but I still care for him as a human. He was WAY more disabled mentally than this giant who demand's everything his way or else!

This kid has a history of violence. And now she says she’s taking college courses that will enable her to handle him. What didn’t she take the courses prior to him beating this teachers aid senseless?

No sympathy for him or her. This kid beat a woman nearly to death and this wasn't his first rodeo. Some hard time might teach this kid a life's lesson more than any of these nonsense "programs" would have. The poor woman he had bludgeoned has to deal with the physical and psychological scars and PTSD for the rest of her life. I sympathies lie with her. Not him. It is this mentality which drives me absolutely nuts.

So it's OK for all the victims and the female teacher to be attacked, but her poor boy have to be protected. He received so many passes from his evil dead and another by the judge. The "mother" will protect him when his released and end someone live. She will be in court and on TV saying my poor son. It's everybody else's fault not his. Wake up lady. And take stock of all the victims your son left behind.

As a former teacher i had a volatile special needs student who's IEP (individual edu. plan) stated he required an aide with him in the classroom... the kid came to class without his aide...i called the office and asked why, and was told there's no one available... I advised the school office administration they had 30min to get an aide for the student or i was leaving for the day.... amazing how fast they found someone... Main streaming is good for special needs children... however when a kid has violent triggers he needs a different educational setting. His mom knew this kid was a ticking time bomb... but its too late now. I hope the teacher aide that was injured has a lawyer... she should be getting workmen comp. Since she was injured on the job.

And he still beat a woman almost to death just for taking away his video game when he was supposed to be in school. What if that had been another kid?

There are millions of people with autism that don't violently assault other people. Total lack of accountability is the real problem.

Consequences are mandatory for physical abuse. Period. This ‘mom’ isn’t even addressing the horrendous crime her son committed. Despite her son having ‘massive hallucinations’ without his medications, she says he shouldn’t be locked up? We all need to be kept safe from violent offenders. This kid is exactly where he belongs.

I had kids on my bus that blamed meds wearing off or them running out for how they acted & I just told them, I understand but the law will not give you a break for what you do so don't count on that excuse saving you. Never had a parent complain but I'd have told them I'm telling the kids the truth.

I know I should have some sympathy for this mother, but her not even mentioning the woman who was almost killed, who lost her livelihood, who lost her health insurance, who lost her income, who is traumatized for life, really frustrates me. The mothers aversion to this simple 'responsibility of acknowledgement' leaves me wondering at what values she has raised her son to behold. In an article I read, she told the school "that being hungry was a trigger, that noise was a trigger, that being told ‘no’ was a trigger, that being corrected in front of other people was a trigger, and electronics was a huge trigger,” Good lord, if all those things were his triggers _he should not have been in High School!_ How could she expect no one to ever say "no" to him? Again, I am frustrated that she is placing blame with others. Lastly, he almost kills someone over a _toy,_ and then she says “They are punishing that he is black.... and punishing his disability,” I am sympathetic that there aren't more programs for people who need extra help, but annoyed that so many people these just won't take any responsibility.

I'm confused as to why she has now located placement for him and is willing to take college courses to manage his condition. As a parent of a special needs child this has to be done all through their development. So sad for everyone involved.

Not getting meds is jail is not a new thing. Having withdrawals of prescribed meds is something heaps of people have dealt with. Nothing unusual there either. There is no favouritism in the jail system. I don’t feel bad for him but for the people he has attacked.

Quick question how come nobody is talking about the teachers assistant who literally almost got killed??? if that guy got in a few more blows the family of the teachers aid would be planning a funeral the violent student is not a victim
