Blame the people who set the desk up, they had everything the wrong way round. Facing the King, the inkwell should have been at the top of the desk along with the pens and the documents underneath them. Anyone with common sense would have known this. They had set the desk up for the MP's to sign. It makes no wonder he was furious.

The way Camilla looked at William. She's like "help me out here"😂. Now I truly understand why the Queen didnt gave up her throne up to the very end🤣😂..
What I found the most poignant is how William dealt with it. Charles got angry at the paraphernalia being there, motioning for it to be moved. When William sat down, he moved them himself, and when Camilla was done signing he went back to pop the lid on the ink and straighten the pens. A lot of care, and a massive difference. I wasn't a particular fan of William before, but that little moment seemed huge.
@@geniejack9709 we can see through this video that he isn't prepared even to sign a document by himself, but not fit to be the king??? What does the King do??? Nothing, be the king is the easiest and useless job in the world...
@Earth is dead he is the king and... What is the importance of it??? What will change??? The king means nothing, the king does nothing, it's just a tittle...
@Earth is dead I was singing the praises of Will rather than badmouthing Charles, but Charles has spent a lot of his working life boosting the working class, only to in this moment seem incapable of doing a little work without aid. Yes it was a stressful scenario, signing a very important document, but William showed care, grace, and the ability to do things for himself rather than immediately turning to aides. The Queen would have been more dignified, no questions asked.
It's not easy having to do so many things after you've lost your mother. I needed a lot of sleep in the days following my mother's death. (Even though I didn't have much to do -- someone else handled most of the responsibilities.)
@@alrinaleroux9229 The man literally had more than six decades to prepare to become a king. Let that sink in. It doesn't require a whole different way of life or etiquette to not lose temper
It just shows his personality. If he’s like that in public, just imagine what he’s like to deal with privately. Again, I realize it wasn’t too bad, but when he grinds his teeth like that while making that gesture, it does show he’s a privileged person and is used to other people doing things for him.
It was a historic moment. There are no excuses for the lack of proper support from the aides. He should have behaved differently, but yet the aides should be given a sack for ruining the moment.
“May I please have this moved? Thank you, please take this, thank you.” The way he treated people around just goes to show what crappy person he’s been all his life.
What are you talking about this man has done so much around the world to help others he started the prince's trust to help not only ppl from other countries but his own he has done his duty with pride and this nation is very very proud of him actually look up what he has done before making any kind of statement about it because you just made yourself look really silly there lad

I’ve tried over the years to like Charles. Shan’t try any more.In this moment he showed his true colours didn’t he. Everybody else behaved with grace and dignity. He behaved like a petulant little brat.😮
PEEVISH, pretty much sums this up. Grace is what the queen had. Grace is something this guy is going to need to learn. Nanny needs to scold little Charlie.

No-one signs documents etc. with inkwells under your arms, they could have been knocked over. Anyone with secretarial training knows this.
73 years of preparation, a lifetime of knowing that this moment would come, tarnished by low emotional IQ and an appalling lack of situational awareness. How can a public figure of this caliber not realize that the cameras would catch it? Damage control time at Buckingham Palace from Day 1, and King Charles III is off to a rough start. For this reason and many others, I fear the Monarchy is headed for some rough seas.
Times sure have changed. Monarchy is just a remnant of long-gone past and its institution that is no longer relevant to modern values and ideas. In the long run monarchies gotta go. Charles III's undignified behaviors will only hasten that process in the UK
If you knew the exact date and time your mother would pass no matter how hard you’ve emotionally prepared yourself for this moment. You’re still going to get emotional no matter how rich and powerful you are. No child wants to witness watching their parents go. i know people who’s lives completely fell apart after losing just ONE of their parents, This man lost them both and now has to lead an entire nation of people his parents both left behind, The fact that this dude had went out and immediately took action not even 24 hours after his mom died giving orders takes guts. Most people would close themselves off and mourn their parents for days, weeks even. I dont know this man, and i honestly don’t wish to. But one thing i can do for the guy is be sympathetic towards him every man or womans worst fear is watching their parents pass before their eyes.
@@SynsaySama Bro, he is a grow up His mom died? Okay, at least sign this paper without in a controled manner If he can do it how do you expect him to be a king?
Second time I watched the video, I found it amusing ang funny, like watching an old comedy film that makes fun of old people. Because really, at this day and age, nobody would gnash their teeth in anger toward an employee. It boggles the mind how people can bow down and call such a rude and uncaring old man their king; reaching that age and not learning how to respect others speaks a lot about the person. I would never bow down to someone like that, let alone call him my king.
Having lived in a democracy for half a century, I can confidently say that when there is no king, then politicians/warlords fight to be king. This way is less bloody. At least in a constitutional monarchy the king has no real power and the politicians all have to bow. And you knownwho will succeed him.
@@executorprime I too have lived half a century in a democracy and in constitutional monarchy, since the king has no real power, the politicians still fight for power. The king is just a figurehead joining in with the mess.
Come on now, he wasn't furious, he just asked myself why all that unnecessary stuff like ink wells were on that small table, when all he needed was a pen.
That's what happens when you have no more than 10 years of life experience! Same with kids raised by weak parents. They become idiots who think they are suitable to denounce 70 year old kings with decades of involvement into charity, public affairs and promotion of their countries, when they are to sign the most important document in their life on the most unsuitable desk with no room at all. And that's exactly the job of the aide, to do what the king tells him to do, namely to gently remove troublesome pens from desks amongst others. Ok now? Can you now process what happened?
jeez am I glad to hear someone sane to comment on this. All these sheep repeating the same thing over and over. It`s either that they are sheep or that they can`t read body language at all. He obviously had the same grimace the whole time during the process of having to sign these documents (eh-ehm I`m sorry - instruments). To me it was actually a show of defeat and a display of panic as in "please I really need help now this is two hard I can`t handle it on my own!"
I am sorry for you, if a mom shows that gesture, instead of opening her mouth and saying what does she need, it can be frustrating and a bad example for her children, especially in a younger age
If you mean by dark ages the ages where rulers were despotic and merciless, then the dark ages are still there because the majority of countries are still ruled by dictators. Charles is an angel compared to most of them.
She scapegoated Princess Diana pretty well, allowed Camilla into the family and now those boys are required to bow to her, she didn't respect anything other than the institution.
Charles was incredibly rude towards the usher. Those furious and dismissive motions of the hands and the baring of his teeth were totally unnecessary; very crass. The queen would never have done that. William, on the other hand was very gracious and even centered the inkwell and then stepped back. Charles usually projects a mild persona and I thought he would have handled this inconvenience in a more tolerant way. Frankly I’m disappointed in him.
Unnecessary gesture.. He has been royalty for quite sometime now, and should be at least more courteous with his behavior and gestures. Lets not enable people so much, Royal or Not. Yes, he has lost his beautiful Mum and now he is King. More reason for him to show grace. After all, humility and kindness makes a man prudent.
Are are aware our royals in the past amused themselves by beheading people? Now the pen is mightier than the sword, just because he isn't courteous enough for you doesn't mean he should change at all. I could care less how he acts, he's there to do a job so long as it gets done who really cares how he is.
This is what I just don’t understand about the royal family. Why couldn’t he have just said out loud (as loud as needed for the staff to hear) “excuse me do you mind moving the ink pot out of the way please”. That’s why I feel like everything is a social construct
In this day and age, nobody should ever be treated like a slave and have a master wave their hand rudely with a gnashing teeth look. Unacceptable in 2022.
@@dougl945 totally agree - his mother would never have behaved that way. Rude and obnoxious. If I had been that person I would have been terribly embarrassed and upset being treated like that. I also think he did it not once but twice.
They have had 70 years to practice this and they put ink pots and pen holder right in front of the King and huge documents in front of the King to sign on one of the smallest desks imaginable. Clearly, someone hadn't been thinking this out properly. Please find a bigger desk when William eventually needs to sign the document.
Lol why are ppl defending him? He's clearly showing frustration over something so insignificant. He could have looked at the staff and gestured with some tact, that face was clearly lacking grace.
I am not surprised by such behavior the royal family, from a small child has their asses rubbed by the servants and they were relieved in everything and everyone did for them, so you can see that it was so hard for him to move something...........pathetic

In his defense he was in the middle of signing an oath in front of a room full of people. Still shouldn’t have looked so bratty about it but him himself getting up to do it would interrupt the ceremony
While we can't judge Charles' entire character based on this short clip, it is an indicator of his personality. I get that he must be stressed out. Time will tell, but my expectation level isn't high. He is now a king, but it's still same old Charles we know 🤷🏻♂️
This is what gets me about the Royal family: i have every sympathy for anyone who's lost a parent but displays of petulant intolerance and impatience like this, towards anyone else, let alone someone who cannot answer back, are frankly disgraceful. His father, sister, aunt and younger brother were and are renowned for their irritability; I thought he might have been above it. Apparently not.

For those defending the impatient grimace Charles so publicly displayed to staff, his action in that took me aback. It was not dignified, and perhaps his public mask slipped for a couple of seconds revealing a spoilt man-child. Did anyone notice the way in which Camilla looked at William during the first part of the incident? Spoke volumes. PLUS it would have been his decision to have his mother’s flowers, left by the public in tribute to and respect for Queen Elizabeth, removed to other locations, AND the public have been told NOT to leave any flowers or they’ll be removed!! Why? How disrespectful. The growing floral tributes were heartwarming to see, as with Diana (whose floral tributes were allowed to remain there). It reflects the respectful sentiments felt by the people.
He winced the moment after he signed the first big paper because he had to rearrange things on such a small table. Then he moved the paper up then the ink pot to the right below it. Then he saw the pen tray and it was just too much.

You don’t see it on this video, but on another video from a different angle, William’s body language indicated he was terribly embarrassed by his father’s behavior towards the aide.
I think by use of “furiously”, the title is referring to the physical action as opposed to an emotional reaction. The King also swiped the pen and put it into his coat pocket, and then Prince William had to request another. Quite amusing! Edit: Other kind commenters have informed me it was The King’s own pen that he used, and it was a gift from William and Harry. No “swiping” was committed during the Proclamation Ceremony 😂
