People keep talking about Pretendo but it's not going to have half the userbase that live had, not that many people are going to mod or hack their Wii U/3DS.

actually, they released a version of pretendo without modding your console I think.

Sadly no. Online servers are shut down for every online feature.

Apparently you could still play online features if you are still playing the game prior to the shutdown, but once you turn off the Wii U or 3DS you can no longer access the online features

@@JC02official So if you just left the game on forever, you'd be able to play as long as you'd like? As long as you don't have some other Wii U game you'd want to play.

I was definitely playing a bit past that. Maybe like 15 minutes. I had to go though, so it probably happened right after I left lol

​@@tails-spin0139it happened.... WHILE YOU WERE PLAYING! It basically was an OG Xbox LIVE scenario, where Nintendo left the servers up to let people who were still on keep going, but prevented new players from entering.

For splatoon, if you were already online, you could keep playing until 1 am central (11 pm pacific or 2 am eastern). They wouldn’t kick you out unless you closed the game or lost connection

They really only ended the service due to security reasons, since these games aren't supported by nintendo anymore, people were able to make hacks that would break other players' consoles just by playing a game with them.

The DSi and DSi XL online features were gone a while ago.

If you're talking about the ones you get from rewards regarding the online features such as 100 Mario Challenge then no they are not accessible anymore.

@@JC02official ok, now I wish Nintendo would make the Error Screen appear if you tried to go into the courses, not when you tried to go into Course World, that way, I can access Event Courses, I wish the error screen would also appear when trying to enter 100 Mario challenge, that way you can play the event courses and get the remaining costumes without being locked out

@@JC02official fun fact: I got Hello Kitty before the servers were shut off, but it was hard, cause I had to use a Wii Controller due to my Gamepad being dead

@@Ibalistic_hedge It's not nonsensical, people still play these things. Not "everyone" hated the Wii U, the people who do like it are an *extremely* tight-knit community. Even people who don't have their Wii U or 3DS anymore are still nostalgic for this era, and it hurts to see a part of their childhood go. I didn't get a 3DS until 2020, nor a Wii U until 2021, and this still hit me right in the feels, because I have a lot of fond memories of these consoles. It's saying goodbye to a hugely impactful part of my life. Just because *you* don't care, doesn't mean *everyone* shouldn't care.

@@mysticaxolotl8215 The switches online is exactly same as the Wii us so get your nostalgia from their. Its not the end of the world. I have fond memories of playing mk7 online, but nothing lasts forever, it is what it is, it's not a biggy. We are adults, not 5 year olds, so we should act like adults. And you can still play the games, just not online, so no nostalgia is gone. You can still buy and and play a 3Ds and Wii U. Mate, there should be more important things in your life than playing video games. This shouldn't matter to you, it's just sad. It's not that I don't care, it's just There's more important things in life than a game going offline. and I'm not gonna cry about not being able to play a game online. Nintendo may be a multibillion company, but even they can't afford to keep the servers open forever. And anyway, fans will probably do what they did with Mario kart Wii and make emulators for it.
