I just thanks the lord that I wasn’t born to a family with cooking like this. I also called my mom and told her thank you for her hard work in the kitchen and told her sorry for not realizing how special that was 😭
Momma I made my specialty in my first apartment at 19 and it was a can of cream of mushroom sprinkling on rice. 2 chicken breasts the rest of the soup another sprinkle then a little breadcrumbs cover and cook at 375° for 45 min (in a glass loaf Pyrex baking pan) It was awful I’m sure but I loved it and everyone amused me and said it was amazing 🤭🫶
I made this today. I put a few more seasonings, fenugreek, sage, rosemary in with celery. I had to take some of the broth out to cook the rice. The remaining broth I jared and put it in the fridge. Then I added the soup mix to the rice and chicken. I think next time I’ll add some broccoli.
As an islander, I went from "mothers milk" to rice by my 1st birthday. I'm in my 60's now and have tried a thousand different varieties, prepared a million different ways. Cooking rice in STOCK is FANTASTIC!!! I, personally would strain/skim (most of) the fat and "bloody bits" first. But it's AMAZING...
These are two strangers who came together for this channel. I’m convinced! Lol How is he always so shocked at her food?! Didn’t he grow up in her house??
@@barbaraparker6996 it is, he doesnt even live there, and she doesnt even like to cook lol. Still hilarious and seems like a great family this is all for fun
Mama someone done you wrong in the flavor department. A boullion cube, somethin? Does the whole family cook like this? Your a sweetheart though. Keep waiting for when the flavor light goes on.
Wait you guys really grew up eating this?! 😮😂 Lord have mercy, I'm so glady family is from the Dominican Republic, those Caribbean seasonings are something else 🤤
@@JesusisKing03 we sure did! Its all I knew growing up and I thought it was delicious! As I grew older I realized it was not good…it’s now an extinct family recipe 😂💜 Lol
My mama used to make chicken and rice like this and it was soo delicious!!!! But not the onion soup mix but I bet it’s delicious that’s a southern comfort food
We need a few videos of "what Momma would make Josh for school lunch" and then have Momma can give us some grade and middle school aged lunch ideas. 😂😂😂😂
"That's even scarier!" Facts. Also, scoop out the fat floaty scum before adding anything else. I like using an extra fine mesh skimmer. And maybe add a bag of frozen vegetables or something because that's just a lot of beige.
Josh did your mom not feed you growing up? 🤣😂 She should have added the onion soup mix to the water with the rice so the rice could enjoy the flavour! 😊
You can do that but you gotta clean the rice first haha.😂 I let it cook then add it to a pan w/ seasoning and some olive oil and throw that into the oven to finish cooking and brown a little on top. It’s pretty good.
momma chicken broth usually uses chicken, onion, celery, parsley, garlic its not just chicken in water but it still does look good when she adds the onion soup mix!
Mama season your chicken and brown it in some butter. Add some chicken broth and then your rice. For extra yummy rice add in a can of cream of mushroom or celery soup with a little milk! I think you both are so charming and sweet. 💫💞💫
Josh - just listen to your mother. I had a kid just like you and she never lost an ounce eating my home cooking. Now she's cooking for her own daughter.
Oooooo Momma! Seriously, I used to put my rice, water, seasonings and chicken into a baking pan, cover in foil and cook on 400 in the oven. To get a good brown on it just remove the foil and bake for a few minutes more.
That's how I make my bbq chicken. Boil it until it's tender and then bake it with the bbq sauce. I use stick butter to rub down the pan I bake it in. It's delicious with mashed potatoes and peas or corn on the cob.
The actual way to do it is melt butter with garlic and chive. Add rice toss to brown it a bit than add can chicken broth with water or water with chicken cubes/powder lol
Chicken and Rice: Boneless or bone in chicken 1 can cream of mushroom soup 1 can cream of chicken soup 1 1/2 cans milk 1 envelope onion soup mix 2 c rice Mix everything except chicken together and place in foil lined 9x13 pan. Top with chicken. Cover with foil. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 1/2 hours. Remove foil 15-20 minutes early to brown chicken.
I can’t lie I got so frustrated with this one. You put the soup mix in last so there’s clumps in your rice and not dissolved in. Did you use boneless chicken breast? Bone in creates FLAVOR. Josh baby, go ahead and eat the chicken fingers baby😂❤
I think mamas next recipe should be 2 boxes of Kraft Mac & cheese. HAS to be Kraft! Don’t play around mama! And 1 lb of hamburger scrambled up. Drain the fat from the hamburger and dump it in the Mac & cheese. Obviously make the Mac how it says on the box. It’s amazing! 🫶🏼💋🫶🏼💋
Cook chicken and rice separately. Never boil chicken, always pan fry or grill it. Get you a rice cooker. Rice is hard to cook but it's much better if cooked properly. All the best, with love!
Everyone saying she should put the season packet in before the rice, she completely forgot she even had it in the cupboard. New habits are difficult to stick.
