From Mommie Dearest (1981): Last part of the "Joan gets fired from MGM" scene and the complete rose garden scene with the original music included. This is from a VHS Hi-Fi version released before the music was taken out.
I think they should’ve left the music in there. It just made the rose garden scene just that much more interesting to watch. You could feel the heightened madness in Joan
some people can't express emotions properly. joan was a hard worker. her ego was probably very much tied to that. wearing the dress could have been an effort to recapture the glamor she felt was crumbling away. and who hasn't wanted to destroy something beautiful when sad, almost in an attempt to wallow in the sadness and make it worse?
I will never understand why Faye Dunaway disowns this role. I think she was absolutely fantastic, and no other portrayal of Joan Crawford comes close to the magical bat$hit crazy of this one.
Leah Guswiler because people made fun of her acting for this movie. It was extremely over the top. She had worked hard to bring Joan Crawford to life and she felt the producers and directors took it in a direction that she wasn't onboard with. For instance, there is a scene that was deleted depicting her and Christina camping on the beach and it was supposed to reveal the deeper aspects of their relationship and why Joan acted the way she did, but they cut it out and left a huge hole into the reasoning behind her behavior. Faye was very disappointed by that.
If you look up info on original reviews and reactions, you'll see how marketing made it a complete joke. Even Christina Crawford came out against it. So yes she played it great, but the people that be used it to ruin her career
Interesting...information...thread... and debate. All of you. Also, Christina and Christopher had other siblings that Joan used... this tale is a real case of a "mom" creating more dysfunction than we realize. Her kids??? Lord have mercy. She controls these people... long after she went to the grave. A real BITCH!!!
Joan Crawford i felt sad she got fired from metro golden meyer she felt awful thats why she was ruining her garden. It was a beautiful garden i thought it was ashamed.
