Look up at the night sky, what do you see? Does looking at the moon make you feel curious?
It does for young Kaitlyn, she loves spending her nights lying beside her mother as they search the night sky for the moon. It isn't always there...why is that? They chat to each other about wonderful moon facts like why it changes shape and hides sometimes, why is it not always round? Kaitlyn learns about the astronaut Neil Armstrong and wonders if he followed a map to reach the moon. She believes that one day, she too could fly to the moon.
A wonderful story that fills you with warmth following the curiosity of Kaitlyn and her inquiring mind. So beautifully written with the story interwoven with educational facts to create a prefect combination of engagement. When reading you feel the bond between Kaitlyn and her mother and love that they are sharing their thoughts, interests, fascination and knowledge. Moon gazing is beautiful, almost magical with the unknown of what is so high above us that lights up the sky at night. Kaitlyn's Mommy understands her daughters inquisitive mind and offers her educational facts in an understanding way and a way the reader can also learn. This is evident in the stunning illustrations, they are mesmerising with subtle colours that sparkle and equally they are clear with visual scientific facts. A beautiful heartwarming story that would be an asset in the classroom and there are also fun activities for the reader to extend their learning and language skills.
