Imagine that your playing and your running hot then you get halted. It's someone threw you into ice water while your sleeping. Plus Gamerbee was in a mentally and physically exhausting grueling match prior the stick dying only added to the mental stress and completely stopped what momentum Gamerbee had.
What an evo grand finals, what i like about this set was that momochi knew ken wasn’t doing the job so he switched to evil ryu and my god, I instantly knew he had won, just shows how insane evil ryu was back in the day, especially in the right hands like sako and daigo
Kuro Shinko He won the first round and had to give gamerbee the 2nd round. If anything he's the one on the momentum mopping the floor with gamerbee on the 1st round and had to win with a stick he's unfamiliar with so fuck you he deserved to win it as much as gamerbee.
The thing is Gamerbee could have mounted a comeback given his run, defeating top players on his way to grand finals but the fight stick malfunction had stopped his momentum for that match and momentum is important for high stakes matches like Evo finals. Both of them deserved to win but with the whole fight stick mishap, there is now the "what if the stick hadn't malfunctioned?" questions in which Gamerbee could have won. I'm not taking away from Momochi's victory but I'm guessing that Momochi would have preferred a more definitive win than this.
Kuro Shinko lol what if the new stick became shit in Momochi's hands, man? And Gamerbee was given the round too...he should feel really pumped to be going into the final round...but he just didn't make it happen, dude...watch the tapes...
Mog Gles is it true like they mentioned that the rules state you lose the game?if so then whatever reasons are given gamer bee would have been given the title.but sportsmanship points for him and excellent play by momochi in the last round really dominant
It was a bad situation. I feel for both of these players. Gamerbee didn't want a free victory and I know Momochi felt bad for breaking the immersion. That break in game changed how both of them would have acted. Momochi knew that and didn't feel like he completely won Evo. Gamerbee and Momochi both won Evo.
Such an amazing final, the stick malfunction only makes it more dramatic and the fact that he had to gave a round with almost full health then take it and he kinda looked sad for Gamerbee, great players and epic matches in this final.
Its always kind of bittersweet to watch this Grand Finals. It really should have been Gamerbees year after he conquered all his demons that year. But there was frankly no denying Momochi even when Gamerbee played as well as he did.
Kinda feel sorry for momochi, the crowd didn't even chant his name when they gave him the trophy. It's not like he intentionally pressed pause, shit happens. You could even see it in momochi's face that this win wasn't even that gratifying. Hopefully they both make a comeback next year for a grand finals rematch.
Some time later, I came to see this match, and this is an example of a person who has been defeated, but did everything possible and impossible to win. Gamerbee was a real winner, not gave up at any second of the fight ... It was heartbreaking to see him lose ... He deserved to win. But anyway, it was a great match, two giants fighting game players clashed in a fierce battle. Congratulations to both players.
Momochi's stick was having trouble the whole time in fact as it caused him to drop combos, you can tell based on the feedback the replacement stick how much Momochi's 200$ stick functionality was not up to par.
The rules needed to say that if the game is paused you lose that round. The end. Not this whole "leave it up to the player" rule. That just adds unnecessary heartache. If the stick malfunctions, same deal. It's not either player's fault it happened but it's a momentum killer and the rules need to be steadfast.
LOL...has NOTHING to do with skill level. Plenty of online idiots use them, primarily because they are VERY easy to pick up and learn....well maybe not Akuma, but Ken and Ryu certainly. Akuma gets picked a lot probably because he looks badass. Not say Momochi isn't skilled, he's world class obviously. I did kind of groan when he went to Evil Ryu though..
When? At the end with James Chen and Seth Killian? They, along with many others in the FGC, have witnessed EVO since it's inception. Every year it grows bigger and whenever it ends, usually Seth Killian ends up crying but this time it was James Chen who broke first. They put a lot of heart into EVO, which is a 3 day Mecca for fighting games, so when it's over, it's satisfying to end, but sad because it's over. No other fighting game event draws as many people in as Evolution. Fighting games can be extremely personal which is why there was so much hugging and crying between competitors. On the main stage, it's your skill versus another person's skill in front of thousands of people; you lose because you got hit more than the other guy. When you win a tournament in Evo, you are the best player in that game in the world, no argument. It's a lot of tension built up when you make it into top 8 after 800 people or more have been eliminated.
Danyal Elia He contemplated on quitting a while back, but didn't and came back almost winning evo but lost after all that work so its just really sad to see someone who puts in so much work and has so much passion to lose.
momochi gave up the round!!! when he was not even in significant life disadvandage and in next round he takes the win, totally deserved it, he was baffled as much as GBee, so i don't understand shit he gets from the crowd

momochi is already the champion for making it to the finals with ken. a mid tier character that has to work extremely hard to score a win. in contrast, adon's s.hk game shutting down most of ken's move is lame as fuck!

Tou Vue you can see the momentum gamerbee had by coming back. The game being paused really destroys momentum. It happened with go1 and sonic fox this year and happens in a lot of professional sports when teams call timeout.
It was the momentum killer of the stick breaking. Also gamerbee's run to grand finals was something special he beat alot of the players who were his demons like Infiltration and Daigo people get behind that. But i do feel bad for Momochi its pretty clear by both there body language neither was happy with how things played out with the stick breaking. Its a shame cause this whole top 8 was amazing and a good end for SF4 at evo.
Gamerbee gave it everything he had much respect. Damn man I wanted him to win so badly. Tough loss but he played the game the right way. Nice win by Momochi but I think Evil Ryu is a cheap character to use. Gamerbee owned his Ken and he retreated to a gimmicky Evil Ryu and Gamerbee still took him to the distance in the 2nd set despite the mismatch of characters.

MrBluntDestroyer How did Gamerbee possibly get robbed? He lost the last round, and was losing the round (match point) before the controller mishap. It actually helped him because he was given the round that he was losing, and Momochi lost his momentum.
This entire thing was bullshit. The outcome may have been different if the stick didnt break. Maybe gamerbee wouldve won, maybe he wouldnt have. As much as you think momochi deserved to win you cant deny what gamerbee deserved.
That was the most terrible ending of grand finals I have ever witnessed. Gamerbee should have taken that game by default. He had the momentum going into that last match and a controller malfunction just took it all away. If that happened at topanga world league you would bet you would loose that match. Gotta give it to Gamerbee for being the most honest player to ever live. I hope he comes back, I pray he comes back in CPT and wipes the floor with Momochi.

You act like Momochi didn't deserve to win or something. You can tell that he was sad that he couldn't have a more definitive win than that. In that last round Momochi was already up a match anyways and the controller malfunction lost him the second match. Sometimes sticks just break and the penalization shouldn't be harsh for something that's not the player's fault. You say that Gamerbee should have taken the whole game but that's not the rules and that would have been an awful way to end Grand Finals. For the record I'm not saying that Gamerbee didn't deserve to win at all but that Momochi deserved it too and he felt bad that it couldn't end in a cleaner fashion so there's no reason to act like Gamerbee was honest but Momochi was not.

See... all this bullshit about PS4 exclusive shit is stupid. They use Xbox at EVO and a lot of other tournaments. Making SF5 exclusive to PS4 is the dumbest thing they could do. They are dividing the fighting game community. They putting the nails in the coffin. KoF13 finally made it to EVO because they released it to both consoles and the fanbase grew bigger. But with KoF14 being exclusive they are going to make those numbers go down. I want Xbox One users to have KoF14 because I want a bigger KoF fanbase. I think SF5 will not be as popular as SFIV hell it might not even surpass Mortal Kombat 10. Protest this shit, it doesn't matter whether your a fan of PS4 or Xbox One cause in the fighting game community all that matters is you're a fan of fighting games.

that lacklustre applause for momochi compared to gamerbee makes me feel pretty ashamed. i get that gamerbee was everyone's favorite for a lot of reasons, but you can see it in momochi's face that he's feeling the discrepancy. made me feel bad for the guy in 2015 and it makes me feel bad for him now. crowd should have given him more. momochi isn't a scumbag or a showboater, he's just a super strong player who put the work in and deserved that win. no reason for him to get stiffed by the crowd like that.
Im a big fan of both players but i think the James Chen sumed it up Gamerbee was the story of the event. The man slayed all his demons with his loser bracket run, his elena stuff was ehh but those clutch Adon plays got everyone cheering for him. But 100% Momochi did deserve his win

Gamerbee really knew that at 26:23 he was already dead unless either Momochi had dropped his combos or Razor stick was malfunction, and again 28:00 Momochi dropped his combos again when he could have eliminated Gamerbee. So why did Gamerbee complained.
