I've heard some Majors the player HAS to take the loss if their equipment malfunctions, regardless if the other player wants the round. So, I'm just glad a TO or judge didn't come on stage and enforce anything like that. This is just something I vaguely remember hearing, so I could be wrong.
This isn’t talked about enough angry bird is a true beast for still winning to fucking demon I really don’t think menna or anyone else would have done the same for him
@@crystaltisckos5457 Really? For me taking that round would be a shitty attitude. Not taking that win should be expected for every player and I do thing the majority of them would do like AngryBird.
@@KemetShamar It's because you're viewing this through your own lense. Not only you're assuming that you're talking to a fellow 9 year-old who knows nothing about the world, you're projecting your own personality on the situation: that you can't imagine yourself ever making a choice like Angrybird. Both counts tell us a lot about you. The funniest part of all is you going around the comment section of this video (and perhaps other videos) What a try-hard. But keep barking, it won't make anyone take you seriously.
@@Swyfts Because of money of course. More time for more ad breaks. It sucks. Don't know why they had to mess with the tradition of having a top 8 when its always been that way until this year. It took like a little over 3 hours for top 6 SF6, but realistically if you cut out some of the ad breaks you could've easily had a top 8 or even a best of 5 top 8 considering how fast SF6 games go.

So many awesome things to see here. The fact that this is EVO Grand Finals between a Dominican and Arabian player (not US, not Japan, not Korea, not Europe), and the fact that the Arabian player wins, goes into a prayer, and nobody's being shitty about it, warms my heart.
Why would it be a problem that an arabian win ? Everyone knew AngryBird was the goat and he is such a nice man. Though praying is pretty nonsense IMO since he got there thanks to his own skill and only that.
@@Jon_East Being shitty just because I said he got there from his own skill and experience ? Extremists like you are the reason some people started to hate on religions suddenly.
And yet for some reason we're not having these same conversations when someone like Mena thanks God after a win. Curious that. Okay I'm dropping the bit now: Just let people represent their cultures and customs as they wish. Don't be a dick about it. Thanks.
I think Mena deserves some credit for how gracefully he took the loss at the end of this GF. Hugging, soothing, smiling and laughing with the dude who just beat him to win the tournament. Champion shit right there.
@@throwdownthenhoedown9074 Yeah, I honestly don't get why people act so fascinated when someone loses with dignity. What the hell were they expecting to happen, a real fist-fight to break out on stage?
This is literally one of the hypest gf I have ever watched. Was rooting for Mena but know Angrybird is definitely going to be the toughest opponent here. Mena did well resetting the bracket already. Many of us been wanting to see Punk, Mena, and the Birds clash each other since the beginning and we got our dream fulfilled tonight. This is truly one of the best EVO and I can’t thank the finalists enough for their performances.
Complete opposite for me. He was the only player who stalled with his dumb phone tech. Trying to throw his opponent off. Switching characters in desperation to win. Maybe we have different definitions of what earns respect.

I can't imagine someone doing that, that would be a very big lack of sportsmanship and so unfair. EVO organization should pause the match when this stuff happens. Fair play to AngryBird nonetheless.

This was one of the greatest EVOs of all time, one of the greatest grand finals of all time and possibly one of the greatest fighting games of all time. See y'all next year! 🤟
Grand final was definitely awesome, but next year's will be even better with a bigger roster and more pro players old and new throwing their hats in the ring!

My takeaway from this entire tournament: Street Fighter is back. SF6’s future looks incredibly bright and we have a legendary run for this game in store. Bravo to all competitors.
Street Fighter never left ... Pandemic put the entire FGC on hold, but Evo 2022 was already a great comeback for all titles. Evo 2023 is just a confirmation that the community is alive and doing well.
@@popop4044 SF4 was like peak SF in terms of the game and scene imo. 5 had such a rough and bumpy ride. The game itself and the scene with the coming of the FGV into “esports”. Took a while but SF5 got to a place where it was a good eventually but underwhelming coming off of the titan that was SF4. SF6 right out of the gate imo is arguably as good and as hype as SF4. And the game just came out. It’s on rocket fuel and headed to the moon imo is all I mean. There’s a lot to be excited for. This is a game that is modern yet takes you back to the old days imo. They’ve outdone themselves with this.
@@RedShogun13 Yeah, CAPCOM make sure to not repeat the same mistakes they did with SFV launch. And also agree that SFV had difficult time : e-sport adjustments, and most importantly, covid-19. But still, SFV allow the FGC to grow : better international accessibility and new strong players (many we are seeing in this year Evo). SFV Evo 2022 top 8 was definitly hype (the grand final was the most popular match of the entire tournament). You could feel that the crowd was on fire, not only because it was finally FGC comeback after pandemic, but also because of SFV matches quality. At the end of the day, I think there were only two flaws left for SFV : netcode and balance. Gameplay wise, I like the more "brut" and less technical approach of SFV. It allow me to focus way more on what my opponent is doing, instead of what his character or my character can do. SF6 is almost the perfect combinaison of this SFV easy to play side, with just enough technical aspects from previous titles. Basically, a game with lot of options, but each of them isn't difficult to use. Of course, we are still in the honeymoon phase, but I hope that Capcom will support SF6 as much as they did with SFV.
@@fwef7445These matches were great to watch unlike Guilty Gear Strive finals where Leffen’s Happy Chaos utterly destroy Noob’s Nago because the character is stupid broken
I feel like Ken winning the first Sf6 EVO just makes perfect sense. Especially seeing as he started off top 6 by defeating JP (on the Nayshall stage mind you) and then finished it by defeating Luke. Major respect to Both Angrybird and Mena for giving us the best grand finals that I can remember and reminding us how amazing the FGC can be.
Huh I guess that would make sense canon wise tho I would expect a rematch between them would have Luke come out the victor this time. Still these were amazing sets and Menard & Angrybird went all out in this grand finals.
Aah, You mean that religion where women must cover their hair because men are jealous and they don't want other men to look at their women, not even their hair
After all of the mirror madness we had to see through 6 of the 8 games' grands, I'm glad that GGST and ESPECIALLY SF6 managed to end the way they were.
Both of them couldn't make into top 8 at EVO for many times , but right now they could make through the Grand Final together make me think that they could deserve for continuous practicing until the most suitable time
Game is still technically new and small character roster. When the pros get their fave characters it will go back to the way we always see it like you said. Them barely making it. Blanka being top tier is dope. at the same time I don’t see it lasting the whole sf6 career
Two of the absolute best in the world, having an absolute blast while putting on one hell of a show. CONGRATULATIONS ANGRYBIRD and amazing plays, MenaRD! The level of talent is INSANE! 😁💚
I am not religious at all but it was amazing to see Angry bird praying and being so grateful for everything that got him to that point. Just like how Mena always thanks his God after a victory. The passion, friendship, and mutual respect they both showed transcended their religions, cultures, and any other differences. That has always been the beauty of sports and now eSports. Amazing Evo!
I think so too because I do not believe in any religion but if they feel their faith helps them and it doesn't hurt anyone or they don't impose it on anyone then more power to them
Great set! I love how the fighting game community is a reflection of the Street Fighter roster itself - a colorful cast of characters from different countries, cultures, and orientations who are united by their love of fighting. It's dope.
Coming from someone who's scarcely seen anything other than smash bros tournaments, the camaraderie displayed here is just refreshing. How nice to just enjoy the tournament and respect your opponent!
Angrybird gets added respect for handling 2 matchups in 1 with the rapid swapping between Blanka & Luke oh & for not looking at any notes despite contending against 2 very different matchups.
@@last7509bro its a fighting game with multiple characters in it theres nothing wrong with switching characters 💀 its a part of the game that all players are prepared for and know can happen
@dean988 True but Mena was exploiting it, using it as a tactic to confuse his opponent. Typically players stick with 1 character for tournament play & will use a secondary character only for specific matchups or if they've gotten their ass kicked several times & as a last resort switch to their secondary character. I've never seen rapid swapping like this in the professional leagues till now & I started watching tournaments in the SF4 era.
@@Captain-America92 i don’t see that as a negative thing at all unlike the other guy claiming he has no honor and is desperate lol. fighting games, every competitive game as a matter of fact, boils down to exploiting mechanics for your own benefit. but also who’s to say he isn’t just switching characters because he gets bored sticking with one forever i actually think its pretty sick he can switch characters so often and still perform very efficiently with both
The tension only thickened with each match. Kakeru, Haitani, Tokido, Punk, Mena, and Angrybird, all monsters. Everyone played with this deep calm, yet aggressive at the same time. Hoping that I can watch in person one day because this is one of history's best tournaments. Congrats to the winner and God bless.
I commend AngryBird but MenaRD is scary. How quickly he is to adapt to situations and swap characters like that and keep playing on that level. It's just talent really
What a amazing damn match and the entire TOP 6 was INSANE, congratz of Angrybird, he played out of his mind, but man MENARD is the GOAT, the amount of COMEBACKS he did are unreal, come from losers to almost taking EVO, this was insane, everyone played so amazing...Tokido, Punk, Mena and Angrybird, all kill it tonight.
