Imagine, you were dating someone for around 3 years, you have a pretty intimate relationship and love eachother very much. You decide to take this test after saving up a bit. You take it annnnnnnd: She's your cousin.
Bilbo_Gamers FDR married his cousin and the royal families of Europe are all cousins. that's why royals have a plethora of " nationalities " in their family tree and they're all interalated.
+Roman Fox and what do you think "I'm more important than you" means? he wasn't talking about being more important in doing something specific .. but he was referring to being important as an Icelandic person.. as a human..and I really pity him
+ProVaLstaR what makes Icelandic people so special ? I'm Maltese my mother can speak fluently old school Maltese . What makes her more special then anyone else lol it's just the way the guy said it was so arrogant 😂
+xCarxMellax I don't really know 😂.. I personally think that if anyone brag about something they didn't choose makes them look stupid and illogical.. I am an Arab and in my country, there are so many retarded people that think exactly the way that icelandic person do.. And I really hate that.. we are all bone and flesh.. just please stop degrading others.. we are all humans after all!!
I just got my results back this morning. I was always told 100% Greek. I am only 68% Greece/Italy and most other comes from basically middle eastern and Jews. Blessed are the peacemakers.
many greeks and italians have jewish dna, mostly because of the Roman empire, but also in the period of the Macedonian Empire in the middle east, many jews mixed with greeks. and most of the jews have italian dna, big or small, because of the Roman Empire.
I got my results a little over a week ago from ancestry DNA I literary lost my breathe I was shocked my life and my view of myself changed at that moment In a week I've been linked up with close relatives that I didn't know existed from countries that I had only ever read about in books..... I advise everyone who can to take the ancestry DNA test.... its life changing
+Lexes O'Hara yes it really is amazing and worth it I promise it's like finding an adventure that was waiting right there inside of you the whole time.... I've already contacted some cousins I've found on ancestry and they are close DNA matches , people I've never met or heard of that live 3 hours from me
+Lexes O'Hara it's really amazing even after you take the test you can take your raw DNA files from ancestry then upload them to a site called Gedmatch Thant will give you an even more detailed result than ancestry will.... I took the test mainly looking for my fathers family
This video should be titled: *"Some of the worst people in the world take a dna test to find out their heritage and only soften their outlooks as soon as they find out they share backgrounds with all those people they hate"*
I doubt that. I don't think anyone hates people because of their DNA. I hate China, with a passion, and I know Im almost certainly part Chinese. Probably 1/16th actually. So what? Im sure plenty of Chinese people hate China even more then I do. The Chinese government are MONSTERS. But I understand how hard it is to stand up to your government in the modern day of weaponry.
It's an old comment I know... Yet it is harsh to say these people are the worst in the world. Yes they have cultural and racial biases which can all be understood if one is able to learn their story.
@@martineshamzin7535 you hate the government not the people. a lot of people just hate a race and not their country. a lot of my people hate Chinese people because their cultures clash.
This is why I keep saying to folks, it's important to know who you are. This is because it can help determine where you're going and where your people have been. One way or another we're connected to a common ancestry, yet part of a larger group of people. And you never know what's in your DNA, this is all the reason we should respect and care about one another.
People need to know that we are all not 100% what country you come from. Me for example i’m Dutch but i know i’m not 100% Dutch cause i knew this bc of this video but also watched a history of my county now i also understand the lyrics of our anthem song more.
I work at a homeless shelter, doing my undergraduate training. An assignment was given for hypothetical training for the staff. Even though this is only for an assignment, I have played this video for a couple of the staff and will continue to show the others, to show them how connected we all are.
I guess being American I never really thought of people being like "Im 100% French and no one can tell me other wise." All Americans come from such diverse and different backgrounds. Such as I am German, Polish, Irish, French, Welsh, Swedish, and Scottish.
Adam Bumber French are a whatever concoction of Celtic Germanic tribes thrown in maybe Roman and Mediterranean people who colonized the coast in ancient days. 100% French is a political or national construct rather than a sctrict genetic code.
That's why the whole "African American" thing doesn't work. Just because someone has a darkened epidermis does not mean they are from Africa. We are all mutts :-)
I took one of these tests (Ancestry DNA) and I found out I was 6% East Asian and 33% Middle Eastern when both of my parents are from Africa. There's no such thing as a pure race and anyone who believes that is an idiot, period. We were all just humans before countries divided us and race disconnected us.
+ANIMAL MOTHER Of course we've always been fighting but what my point is, is that people weren't like how they were today, they didn't care as much about mixing and having mixed raced offspring because race and modern nation-states weren't a thing.
***** You do realize "Middle Eastern" is a mix of many different races right? They have Caucasoid, ancient Nubian, Phoenician, Babylonian, Ancient Greek etc
ANIMAL MOTHER Of course, however history shows that while people did fight other tribes/groups for dominance, they were just as willing to procreate with them as well. Which is why most ethnicities today have mixed origins.
I absolutely love this film and I have used this footage daily in the schools we visit when we are delivering our CSI Forensic Science Workshops for several years now, however, of late it seems more relevant than ever. From analysing hair and fibers, our sessions naturally take us to discuss DNA and Ethnicity and I use myself as an example, as I am of mixed race and have recently taken my own DNA test. However, this film explains it better than I ever could and the reaction of the students and teachers is always 100% positive and opens up a huge discussion about heritage and culture, a subject in the UK that is not often openly discussed because of the fear of offending an individual or group of people or the fear of being accused of being a racist. I really hope in my lifetime, that all schools and colleges get the opportunity to view this film, it is so very, very powerful and has been put together so sensitively by MOMONDO. I wish it was a compulsory watch in our schools within the national curriculum, particularly within Citizenship, PHSE, Lifeskills, or Geography as it really would teach students from an age when it really matters that globally there really are more similarities between us than differences!
I have no idea what I am my dads side 75 percent blonde blue/green eyes mom is 75 percent Kurd/Turk/Arab my dads family is blonde blue eyed Turks my family tree sticks after my grandpa’s grandpa martyred in world war 1 I have no idea what im
I am from Macedonia and the political situation in my country makes me buy this kit and find out everything about my origin. It is fascinating to see how connected to each other people are 😊
He was taught that bad attitude from childhood. Now he knows better from his DNA, he can choose to be better; you can see his attitude improve just from this new information.
I dunno if it's because Americans are so mixed and that I personally don't know my family's history or origin but there's no country or ethnicity that I would be upset to have ancestry from.
D Bojangles lol no. I don't know many Australians and I don't know any Aboriginals though having Aboriginal heritage would be shocking since I'm white XD
To everyone saying that this is staged: first of all, thank you for reading my comment! I hope you have a great day :) Secondly, think about this: what if the people show are the only ones that had notable reactions? There's a whole group behind them! The rest of them could have been unimpressed or just shrugged. It doesn't *have* to be staged! They can just pick and choose the reactions, and also pick and choose specific moments from said reactions. And who knows, maybe they even pulled in a few different groups, and this is just the one with the most notable reactions, and a unknown pair of cousins!
I took the test last month. I thought I was Swedish/Italian. Well, I got a LOT of added surprises! I have a country list 100+!!! I'm Arabic, Jewish, Pacific Islands, North African, Asian. My head is still spinning!
I am from Mexico and we are a huge melange of "races" so I knew I had Native American, Ibero, Italian,African and Chinese, my parents and grandparents were well informed (and not shy at all) about our ancestry, the only regions that were bit surprising were the 2% or 4% ones like Britain, or Middle Eastern and Polinesia, those were a bit of surprise but I'm sure my ancestors travel so, I can see that, :)
I sat on a school bus with a friend in middle school only to find decades later we were distantly related. I believe it was our 4th great grandparents we had in common. Her reaction? "Our ancestors put us on that bus together." That always makes me smile.
this is amazing, me, my mother and my father did this at different times. keep in mind im puerto rican so i know I am mixed blooded already.here is the shocker though, i am more italian/greek and british than spanish. Those were the two highest percentages in my dna. my father's was 25% british and my mother's was 31% spanish and then we all had native american and various african dna amongst our own results muxed in with others from europe.
I agree with the lady in the video who said everyone should have their DNA analyzed. I think a lot of people would be stunned by their results. It really makes you think when you're staring at your results.
this is beautiful. before I took my dna test, I promised myself, all along, that it is not what we are, but who we are that matters the most. we are one people -portugal, scandinavia, great britain, europe east, ireland, italy/greece, middle east, africa north, and new world is what I am, not who I am
I love this.. racism is a HUGE problem and I think this shows people that no matter what, you always have some kind of ancestral line that is connected to someone, or some kind of race that you don't particularly like.. ❤️❤️ I love it..
This is crazy. I was literally talking about this yesterday .Everything up to having open minds and me growing up thinking I was only black because that's what I was told as a kid then getting back my results back... It gave me a whole new perspective on everything there is a chance (very unlikely) but of my kid coming out European looking if was to get with someone that skin looks as black as mine. Racism really should not exist because its more colorism than racism . A lot of these people that are against certain races have no idea of their actual genetic makeup if we were aware there would be less judgement. I thought of something that might stop the extremism . Maybe an implantation in all schools across the globe that gives you you're full ancestry from an early age(10 or younger) so that it sticks with you for your whole life and you know the history of who you really are.
This Video is truly amazing, it really shows how alike we all are. The Lady was right! Everbody should know their heritage, that really would change the way people see eachother
My father was Polish.... My mother is Italian... My surname sounds Greek but has Hungarian roots.... I was born in England.... then you can realise why I don't hate anyone...
It costs about 100 dollars or so. Both of my parents took it, I didnt find too much out, they were both 91-94 percent ukranian Jewish but it was really interesting to take it. You should definetely do it. You can also find family members on the website you didnt know you had, I found a lost grandma who know one knew of and now I have new cousins
I'll never get tired of watching this. I agree with the lady at 3:40 i.e. that there is no such thing as a pure race. Best Regards, Michael M. Kamau, Nairobi, Kenya, East Africa, 27th November 2023.
Please Ancestry.com answer me. I want to take the test. Is it possible to learn from which Country I am exactly? Im not interested to Know if Im from South Europe I would like to know exactly where from. Is it possible?
Nobody in the world will ever be from 1 region of the world. Your DNA has been passed down over hundreds and thousands of years so you are bound to be a mix of some sort.
Bingo!! That was wonderful. I loved it when Mr. "I don't want to be German" finds out he's part German. Also, Mr. I'm better than you, finds out his results are Not cut and dried. Good job.
I did this. I was certain I was Polish, Bohemian and German. I get my results back, 60 percent eastern europe as expected, but i was 15 percent italian or greek, and 10 percent british. Just shattered what I actually thought I was.
AncestryDNA uses modeled population groups. You can read more about that in our white paper here: www.ancestry.com/dna/resource/whitePaper/AncestryDNA-Ethnicity-White-Paper.pdf
Shawn M Not real life. thats a animated stuff. I love it dont get me wrong but we will never be separate, we are all family through noah, or first humans. what every you believe in we HAVE to be related.
There are millions of pure blooded people.. I know people that are 99.9% Northwestern European that are made up of German, English and Scandinavian... The myth that says everybody is mixed is total bullshite
92 % South Asia with other some other regions along with potential distant cousins from the Middle East, European Jewish, Iberian Peninsula, Ireland, its absolutely amazing.
The Ancestry DNA test is GREAT, but the ethnicity profile is just the start of the journey. The cousin matches are the real boon, and if you have even a modest ancestor tree attached to your DNA profile, you will discover all sorts of connections going back many generations. I encourage anyone who hasn't already taken the test to do so, it's well worth the cost even just for the ethnicity profile, but do try to attach your results to an ancestor tree, whatever you can create based on what you know and what your family can tell you. If you do that, then this test can tell you a lot more about your family's personal story than you can imagine.
My family ancestors live in the US too. But i have Gypsies,German,Slovak,Czech,Hungarian,Romanian people in our family tree. Greetings from Slovakia. This video IS a really good Kick to start the Discovery.
oh really wookie? wanna hire the guy from bangladesh? www.castingcallpro.com/uk/actor/profile/yousuf-emrani the girl frm france? www.castingcallpro.com/uk/actor/profile/aurelie-amblard This is not real.
maybe your friend is not but there are definitely actors in there. If you're too thick to open the links I published in my first comment, you should think twice before calling other people "jackass".
of course we are all connected, we all derived from a common ancestor so its likely that you're related to about 60% of the rest of the world, and the data these guys get is from only as far back as there are records, the first humans on Earth are everyones ancestors, so really it shouldn't a surprise if your ancestors come from almost every country out there. I dont get why these people are so surprised as to where their ancestors are from
We traced our roots back to an odd lil European couple who had no skills whatsoever, except for yodeling. This explains so much about my Uncle Phil. Thank you, Ancestry.

Wow so many racists or disliking of other countries. If someone asked me if there was a ethnicity I wouldn't want to be, I would say there is none. Come at me, any other nationality I could be! no hate here
THIS IS ACTUALLY SO CUTE. I don't understand why they cried a lot but oh well. I also ummm, already knew I wasn't just one thing? I thought it was common sense that we all had something of everything.
Yes! Is your grandmother still living? If so, have your take an AncestryDNA test right away and it will connect her with living family members. If she is not living, have your parent (who is her child) take the DNA test and the connections will help you identify your grandmother's biological parents. (Crista)
I was looking for this video for the last 5 years. I saw by the first time at a philosophy or religion class (I don't remember exactly which was been) in school and I never forgot his... I don't why, but this video had target in my live forever.
