Whitney served in the same mission as me, and it's so sad to see what's happened to her. She has rejected the teachings of the Church while still claiming to be a member in good standing. She frivolously breaks her covenants, and the Church has even put out an official statement against the new Hulu TV show she's a part of. She is not a member in good standing. Her beliefs and behaviors do not represent Latter-day Saint beliefs or teachings. She literally talked about a temple recommend, but the questions to determine worthiness include the word of wisdom (not drinking, which she implies she does), wearing the temple garment at all reasonable times (which she's definitely not wearing in the video, and most of her videos), she takes the Lord's name in vain, swinging and breaking the law of chastity... It's just all not consistent with the teachings she claims to support.

I’ve never wanted kids but this is an interesting interview even if I can’t relate. Also, I may be in the minority but Whitney, girl, you deserve a man who isn’t on Tinder. Doing this even once is grounds for divorce for me. I know you have kids together which makes it harder to just up and divorce. I’m glad everything worked out at least, but I still think it’s cheating even if he was just on a dating app and didn’t meet anyone in person.

At the risk of sounding rude and I don’t mean to offend you. but LDS and the Mormon church are not Christian. That is something they adopted with the last couple of years. They’ve always believed different universes and you get your own universe. They also believe that minorities were never allowed to be in the church or temple. Let us something they adopted because they realize that losing numbers. So they had to adapt. They never believed that Christ, the one true savior had died on the cross. They believe that Joseph Smith and him were brothers something that they don’t teach anymore because they want to see as a Christian entity, but they are not.

This is all incorrect or misleading. We don't believe in different universes, and although we believe we can become like God and receive all that He has--joint heirs with Christ, as the Bible says--we don't fully understand what that entails and don't teach that we get our own universes. That's an anti trope. There are various beliefs behind the previous priesthood ban, but it wasn't about excluding all minorities from the Church or temple. We absolutely believe that Jesus Christ is the one true Savior and died on the cross. That one I have no idea where you're getting that from. Latter-day Saints believe in the Bible and Jesus as God, His divinity, His Atonement, and His resurrection. We believe that all of us, including Jesus, are God the Father's children. Jesus called God Father and told us to do so as well because we are His children. We still teach that and it hasn't changed. You should probably be more informed before posting comments about other people's beliefs without really knowing what you're talking about.

@@BookofTiffaneeStories I was going to reply, but it’s exhausting. This comes from your own doctrine. This comes from people that I’ve talked to who were LDS members way before you were. The LDS church has change their beliefs so many times now you guys don’t even like to be called Mormons, although that is a name that the LDS church went by now you don’t even believe that. Don’t know what they teaching you now, but it’s still not true. Also, Joseph Smith was a known tall talesman look it up.

@@philipcooley879 Lol the correct name of the Church--The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints--was published in the doctrine and covenants in 1838. That's always been the official name. I'm not the one who doesn't know what I'm talking about. I didn't say we didn't try to accept the name "Mormon" that people called us by and go with the flow at one point, I'm saying that was never the actual name of the Church. I'm already familiar with all the anti tropes. Listened to it all. There are answers to it all.

I'm LDS and I do think that many religions are based on many utopian principles. Yet, as churches, they form their own cultures and a very protective attitude that makes many people within that church defend very wrong behavior. I find comfort that many of the younger generations are trying to change a lot with genuine compassion and acceptance.

She seems like a very lovely person, and there's nothing wrong with what she's doing or how she lives, but when you belong to a religion, especially a high-demand religion, you can't break the rules (especially multiple rules) and claim to be a good member of your religion. You don't get to pick and choose. Based on how she's speaking and what she's doing, she wouldn't be eligible to have a temple recommend. They might give her a pass though because part of being worthy is being a full tithe payer (paying 10% of your income to the church), so they might prioritize the money over her actions that don't adhere to their standards. I'd have a lot more respect for her if she left the LDS/Mormon church (and continued to live her lifestyle which is completely acceptable outside of the church) and talked about the issues with the church. Also, the Mormon church is still extremely problematic. They are losing a lot of members, thankfully because of the internet making it easier for people to discover the truth about the church and its disgusting founder (child rapist, con artist, plagiarist, grave robber, founded a bank with no funds held for security, tried to stop the free press, etc.), so they are trying to change certain things or appear to change certain things, but they're still extremely sexist/patriarchal, racist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist, etc. There are sadly so many suicides, especially among LGBTQ+ members of the church. And there's this expectation in the church that you're supposed to be happy because you've found the true church and you have the Holy Ghost with you, and if you're not, then you've done something wrong, so a lot of people are silently struggling and pretending to be happy when they're not. There are so many harmful teachings, so it causes more harm than good. I respect people's religious beliefs as long as they don't cause harm to themselves or others, and unfortunately, this religion causes a lot of harm (as do most religions). :'(
@BookofTiffaneeStories

@@CAngel00727 Actually, although the Church is losing some membership, they're not losing a lot. Their membership is actually still growing.
@CAngel00727
@CAngel00727 Месяц назад
@@BookofTiffaneeStories the church falsely inflates its numbers (probably by reporting everyone who's still listed as a member, even if they haven't been to church in years), mainly to keep the members who are still in to think the church is going strong. I've seen the city where my parents lived go from 4 wards to 2 over a period of 20 years. Numbers are definitely down. My hope is that the world is more educated about how harmful the church is and that it's based completely on lies, and fewer and fewer people convert. It's happening with Scientology too, thanks to the internet and brave people speaking out (their fair game policy is very scary). The good part about more recent religions is you can trace their origins and point out their lies easier than the older ones.

Why is Mormon considered a derogatory term?
@CAngel00727
@CAngel00727 Год назад
Because their current prophet (leader of the church, think Pope of the Catholic Church) has said that it's not something the members should be calling themselves; that the nickname isn't honoring the name of the church. They should be saying the whole church's name and referring to themselves as "Latter-day Saints." One of the former prophets, Gordon B. Hinckley used to say that Mormon can be seen as "more good," so it just depends on what power play the current leader wants to use. It's not actually a derogatory term. :)
@wahsdarb1013
@wahsdarb1013 11 месяцев назад
@CAngel00727 yes- it stemmed in the fact that many people around the world did not believe us to be Christian, so I believe there was a desire to be known as Christian because it is called "The Chrich of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-Day-Saints". But personally, I don't care what you call us and I doubt many member actually care 😊
