It's less sexual than you can think especially with the world "tenderness" that is a world with a huge connection with feelings, or with worlds like "promises" or "I love you"... However, it is still very sensual and a bit erotic. Saint-Saëns wasn't like Bizet, reaching the limits of the 19th century morality, so with Dalida being already portrayed as a temptress, it seems it's the most he could do without choking the audience of that time. If you want something with a real sexual connotation, try "Je te veux" by Satie. Here it's more about the sensuality of love.

Alas, the tempo marking meticulously chosen by Saint-Seans reads "Andantino" (a little slow) with a quarter note getting 66 bpm. Saint-Saens had a very specific idea of the emotional intent for this aria when he wrote that tempo marking. When tempos are drastically changed the emotional intent is destroyed. Singers need to learn how to put on a metronome and explore what the composer meant by the tempo they wrote. When singers drag tempos while luxuriating in the sound of their own voice, they destroy the emotional intent, put their audience to sleep and perpetuate the belief that operas are boring. This aria karaoke track starts at 66 bpm then changes to "Un poco piu lento" where it is marked in the score. It does the "con espansione." Its "molto espressivo" slows down too much. It returns to 66 bpm at the "Tempo I' mark. It follows the "poco animato", the "stringendo," but then slows down too much at the next "Un poco piu lento" (a LITTLE more slowly).
