I can't take my eyes off of her... She's stunningly beautiful. The vibrations exchanged by their mouths, hearts and souls towards each other, it comes from some divine force. I'm crying everytime. Music is the masterpiece of the creation.
All those years ago, my date took me to THIS opera, I was an opera ‘hillbilly ‘ then, I had no idea how great this performance was. I married the guy and continue my classical music appreciation education.
Ascolto quest' aria meravigliosa in continuazione! L'ascolto in tutte le interpretazioni possibili, ma nessuna , ripeto " nessuna" , ritengo possa sostenere il paragone con questa in cui giganteggia la voce , l'interpretazione e l'anima di una stratosferica e irraggiungibile Shirley Verret , insieme ad un altro gigante del canto John Vickers! Questi artisti non cantano per esibire narcisisticamente la propria bravura ! Ma cantano in ossequio alla Musica e ai grandi compositori che sono gloria della Musica , e producono in sinergia emozioni indescrivibili. Grazie Saint-Saëns ! E grazie ai due favolosi artisti Verret e Vickers che così stupendamente propagano e fanno amare questo capolavoro !

Lei è molto gentile!Comunque non ho meriti speciali, ma forse ,essendo musicista di professione, ho l'obbligo di comprendere il valore della prestazione artistica dei grandi interpreti della Musica ! Spero di continuare ad amare e comprendere fino alla fine dei miei giorni, la Musica e i suoi grandi, generosi interpreti !
Anche oggi sono ritonato a riascoltare questo stupendo brano e mi sono riletto la suo appassionato commento. Io la invidio per la professione che svolge. Purtroppo il mio prondo desiderio, sogno, di diventare un grande tenore alla stregua di Corelli, Pertile ecc si è scontrato con la realtà. Più stonato di me non c'è nessuno. Veramente sublime questo duetto e qui l’autore ha creato un’armonia musicale con pochi riferimenti a confronto.La Verrett e Vickers sono al culmine della loro carriera vocale e interpretativa,loro sono Dalila e Sansone in persona.Interpretazione di riferimento anche negli anni a venire..Mi sarebbe piaciuto ascoltare Sansone e Dalila da Corelli e Callas nel momento più folgorante della loro carriera e sono certo che vocalmente avrebbero fatto faville al pari di un Poliuto tanto per intenderci anche se vocalmente più difficile.Ma i teatri anche allora erano sordi e ciechi.

Beyond words... the most beautiful piece of music and the most beautiful interpretation I have ever heard.. I have listened to this version at least 500 times over the years and it brings me to tears every time again... Thank you. 🙂
How could anyone not feel spell bound and compelled by her performance, its so good!! It's all about intention and emotion in her voice, thats what sets it above other performances.
Era imposible que Sanson-Jon, ni nadie, pudiera resistir al llamado de esta Dalila-Shirley. Ella, magnífica con su voz y su actuación. El, aunque en esta aria no tiene mucho tiempo, muestra el timbre y la potencia de voz de un cantante eximio. Gracias a ellos, a Saint-Saens por crear esta obra y a la Asociación Manchega por compartir esta maravilla.

Teniendo en cuenta que Samson y Dalila fue escrito como un Oratorio por Camile de Saint Saens y que luego fuera interpretada como Opera se encontro en la Mezzosoprano Shirley Verret como una de sus mejores intérpretes de todos los tiempos
Es una verdadera joya musical. La mejor versión para mi...Vickers y la Verret soberbios!!!! Que bueno que quedó grabado. Toda la ópera es bellísima pero este dúo es algo fuera de serie.

I remember traveling to the a Royal Opera House to see this performance and hearing on the car radio that President Anwar Sedat had been assassinated. As for Vickers and Verrett, it was a triumph, and this aria was stunning.
I have no idea. Probably pulled it from youtube over some ridiculous copyright claim. I loved that video. This one cuts off abruptly at the end. These SOB recording companies make me sick. Do they think people are going to go out and buy the CD of this performance? I would happily pay youtube $.25 in micropayments to view this video, untouched and unedited.
perfettamente d'accordo: opera disomogenea e ,aggiungo, noiosa ! Tranne il miracolo di quest'aria così sublime che spezza il cuore .Anche io piango ogni volta che l'ascolto ,con brividi e lacrime. I più grandi interpreti sono questi che ascolto con ammirazione e commozione!
