Fringe 2024 performance of Sanctified Trash
Mona Mae is an ageing southern belle who struggles with a crisis of confidence as she prepares to come out of retirement after 40 years. She begins to tell stories from her long queer life to calm her nerves. The stories are funny and poignant in equal measure. Mona Mae tackles serious issues that have impacted her life, but all handled in a humorous and heart warming manner. The stories cover issues such as homophobia, transphobia, racism, religiosity, sectarianism, suicide, sexual abuse, ageism and homelessness. Though historical, these stories are related to life in current society.
