There is also a statue of William Grover-Williams, the 1st winner of the Monaco GP back in 1929. At 0:34 on the right side, under the grand stand. And another at 2:20 on the right, it's not a particular driver / car. Just a random F1 from the late 90's / early '00

If this session could be removed during the race, cars would enter the straight with more speed. There could be more overtaking...

To be precise. There was 3 variations of the chicane 1929 - 1971 : 2 corners left / right. Same location as the curent chicane (3:09 on the video) 1972 : same 2 corners left / right. but 300m ahead. Like at 3:25 on the video. The chicane was relocated just the year because they use the road on the left (sea side) as the pit lane because there was working on the new pit lane / swiming pool road. 1973 - 1985 : same as 1929-1971 Since 1986 : 4 corners left / right / right left

it is easy to go by foot

I'd wager for situations like that, they probably have alternate routes planned out, or even if they don't, they probably have helicopters or something to get around quickly
