You'd be surprised how unsafety 50-80s f1 race was -there we're no such thing as a survival cell (it's the part around the cockpit that is purposely made to be very durable (almost indestructible) just in case of a fatal crash) they only have roll cage and even then it's flimsy af -there we're no pit limiter which means driver can enter and exit at full speed everytime they go to pit -Race officials (like the one you're pointing at) can enter and exit the track whenever they please without needing to deploy safety car -everytime a car is broken drivers are instructed to park the car on the side of the track and will be retrieved when the race is over, yes *when the race is over* -protective/crash barriers are very unsafe and often used materials that are not fit to be a crash barriers in the first place -safety car is only deployed when weather becomes a problem and when a *massive* crash is happening -I could go on and on explaining how dangerous f1 was during those time periods but I suggest you watch about it on RU-vid or at least google it instead

@@Ozymandias1 Le Mans and F1 are different series. Even though it led to Mercedes pulling out of both Endurance racing and F1. The reason why people didn’t think too much about safety was because people assumed it just came with the territory. They had the mindset of ‘If you think it’s too dangerous then don’t race’. It wasn’t until people like Jackie Stewart began pushing for change in the 60s and 70s that things began changing. The biggest safety advancement in Motorsport though was the introduction of Sid Watkins as the track doctor in the 70s. Rules have very rarely changed due to events. They have changed due to how people react to those events. The issue with the wreck at Le Mans in 1955 was that they didn’t know how to prevent this in the future as a lot of the technology and track safety innovation had yet to be invented and until it had been invented, drivers and spectators simply accepted the risks involved.

I think B1M didn't know that last month, FormulaE held a race here. And it was one of the best monaco races I've ever seen.

I wish I had the chance to see it. Wil Buxton raving so heavily about it made me look up the highlights and just those alone were amazing. I don't know where I could watch the full races and/or if there's full-race videos I could find online *somewhere*, at least for some time (for example, I can bring up F1 races, practices, and qualifying for the last month on ESPN)

@@JimTheFly What FE is doing is streaming the races live on their youtube channel. I'm pretty sure they leave the streams up so you can watch them later.

@@TheBlueCreeper- I went to their RU-vid channel and all I could find were the highlights, not the races themselves. Which was really sad because of how good Monaco seemed to be.

@@TheBlueCreeper- And THAT explains why it never came up in a search.... "The uploader has not made this video available in your country." So I guess someone else in the US has the video rights to FE? Thank you, however.

I recently visited Monaco as they were beginning this whole process. Absolutely amazing to see in person. Looking at all the famous parts of the track while also looking at the engineers build the supporting infrastructure is incredible. Not to mention that the Monte Carlo Masters were going on at the same time and I got to see that transformation too. Fantastic place Monaco.

I have watched the Monaco Grand Prix since I was a kid and got into slot car racing. Back then the cars weren’t as fast and narrower than todays cars. It amazes me that they still have it on the calendar. It is an amazing undertaking that Monaco goes through every year.

This video is exactly what I was looking for... While watching that Monaco GP over the week, I was asking "how do they do this?" Monaco has held several races in the last month or two, including the Heritage Monaco GP and Formula E. I would assume they left all the grand stands and other structures necessary to host race up this entire time?
