This is wonderful stuff. One of the very few clips of the late Guy Blackmore that I’ve seen, and even better a closedown too! You can hear his Australian accent coming through. Thanks for uploading. Great to see the original Thames clock.
Fantastic find. I love seeing the earlier clips of Thames/LWT continuity. I have seen a telesnap of the early LWT station clock with the company’s name below. I am assuming like the Thames’ clock as seen here it was first used since the company’s launch in August 1968, and then moved to the one with the blue border above with the LW logo and ‘London Weekend’ in the mid-1970s.
This was ITV in summer mode - meaning the regular 9.30am start time for weekday schools programmes was gone until September, so each region would pop on air at various times in the morning, nearly all using adult educational shows to fill the mid morning hours, Thames using Shaw Taylor's show is an example.
1:11-1:18 Wasn't that the Thames station clock used from its inception in 1968 (and carried over with the switch to colour in November 1969 along with the skyline ident) until sometime in the mid-1970s when they switched it to the top/bottom one?
Would have been nice to have seen it right to the very end to see if there was the national anthem and turn off your TV sets. TV hasn't finished until you've had those.
