Yes, Max Gaines owned AAC and sold it to Harry Donenfeld in 1944 for $50k. Shortly, the National/DC slug showed up on the DC covers. Max tragically died in a boating accident in 1947. His son, William, would take over and start the EC comics dynasty…btw, Tec 69 is the classic double pistol Joker cover.
