I'm a chronic side quest doer and I would say pretty much all of them have at least *some* good or interesting aspect to them that makes them worth doing, even some of the ARR ones.
I mean a lot of them are just junk. Like who needs most of the level 1-50 side quests without rewards really. I need to go through a bunch but it would be nice if they gave significant more exp. At least I could level jobs I don't like with them like Nin.
I've done every side quest in the game and totally agree. Especially from StB and onwards, the open world side quests in each zone often interlink with each other in interesting ways that expand the zone's lore and characters. It was always a thing I did for personal curiosity, but the fact that Althyk comments on your sidequest adventures in Myths of the Realm was a huge surprise and very appreciated. There are even little teasers included in side quests, like getting to preview the Quetzalli gear before the 7.01 raid tier was released!
I do all the quests and pay attention to them. It's nice worldbuilding, but I don't specifically remember most a weeks on xD They could maybe do a zone completion thing like GW2 to make them more appealing. Give them a bicolor gemstone reward, and doing all (or a certain number) in each zone gives you a bonus to bicolor gemstones from FATEs in that zone. Something like that maybe.
The healer cross-hotbar thing is actually a great idea imo. It's two quick button presses compared to button press, d-pad down, down, down, down, second press. Takes way too long and I find it quite difficult to weave cards for example, or target specific people to dash to as viper.
I have no idea how healers heal without mouse over. I dont think I would be able to do any content in game if I had to click people in the party list to heal them, because then its harder to see what the boss is doing and I would be missing out on cast bars etc. Mouse over is literally game changer
Maybe I'm a rare exception, but when I first started raiding in 2.x, I also started leveling up every class and every job because as a healer I wanted to know how the other jobs play, what peculiarities they have, etc . and even today I start 1-2 new characters with every addon so that I can better understand the changes to the jobs. Currently these would be Monk and Blackmage, character number 34 and 35
#MondaysWithMrHappy Hey Happy! Got a question about the current dh/crit situation. I feel like damage variance has become so big in Dawntrail that it has become a problem. Picto Star Prism can hit for 130k or over 300k! That difference is just insane! It's essentially like having 2 Pictomancers. Crit luck has already been quite a problem in TOP and i'm a bit worried that Eden Ultimate will end up being so tightly tuned that crit luck matters too much again. What are your thoughts on this? Will they ever change how dh works? Maybe making it so an ability can either be a direct hit OR crit but they can never stack would fix it. But what are the chances that will ever change? I only see it becoming a bigger problem down the line.
As a barrier healer, yes. Like, my DPS is always low because I'm always doing the insurance barrier - even in my static raid... it was never consistent. I would do the EXACT same thing one pull to the next and the differences in damage done to us??? Why???? WHY??
Hey Haps! Hope all is well! I have a question concerning Machinst. Do you think they should cut back the animation time on Queen? because i feel like i dont get enough damage out of her because half the time when you summon her, its animation before damage. Plus i always have to make sure to be up next to the bosses to cut back the gap closing animation.

Hearing your comments about rotational issues while doing initial calling/explanations for ultimates, I'm curious what your process is on balancing focus on doing your own things (rotation, uptime, etc.) vs making sure the group knows what's coming up. I'm doing calls for my static since I tend to pick up new mechs fast, but definitely started noticing once we got into TEA that I would drop enochian more often or have to throw in a recovery line while I was first doing calls. It's evened out over time, but each new phase is pulling my attention in so many different places at once. Also, speaking of TEA, my group's still working through BJCC but I've watched clear vids and read the strategies for the rest of the fight--is there any advice on how to read your clone during perfect alexander? That's something that I still find difficult to manage when trying to watch a clear video and try to figure out what the player is looking for. Thanks!

(with an extra one to spare) I was thinking about the phys range jobs and how they sort of take on the role of "support", with BRD and DNC having built-in dmg buffs + minor healing abilities, and MCH having personal dmg (haha) + mit. With our next dps job assuming to be a phys range, I was wondering, could devs double down on this idea of "support"? What other ways could these jobs possibly be supportive in parties to help define the phys range role given our current mechanics? Would it be possible to have the same treatment as healers by splitting two different styles? eg. buffs, debuffs, movement speed. Or is "support" really even a thing as it is now within the phys range role? Just thinkin'. Could it be we're just the free movement role? Since almost all jobs across the board offer some kind of support MCH main
#MondayswithMrHappy Howdy Happs! Hope you're well! I am just curious on your thoughts about prog lying in party finder. I've always frowned upon it as people doing it have cause me to take way longer than needed to clear things like TEA in the past, however, I am currently racing to get TOP done before FRU releases, but PF prog liars are holding me back far worse than they did in the past for other raids. I cant get past Hello World because every single party I join just ends up being essentially Panto prog for half the party, no matter what prog point is listed. I don't want to become one of them, but I'm starting to feel it's a necessary evil to have any chance of getting through this fight.

I've not run into damage problems as far as I'm aware this tier, however thanks to things like TOP, I'm under the impression that FRU will require near mastery of your job if they keep going with the pattern of only increasing the difficulty of ultimates. I'm fairly optimized on Viper already, but feel like I'm not optimized ENOUGH. Anyway, my question. 1. Now that you've finished Metaphor, what're your (spoiler free) thoughts on it? I probably won't be able to grab it till 2025 so I'm avoiding gameplay.
