Haha the most recent dyna I bought had short shots, 10” t bars, forward controls, and a t sport fairing. The biggest reason I bought it was because you can tell it wasn’t rode far or hard at all 😂 the first thing I did was scrapped the short shots and forward controls. I’m not in the club life anymore but I’m still not scared to cross multiple states on my dynas or fxr’s im hoping to see a comeback once these baggers get played out. Anyone can hop on a bagger and do miles, I loved seeing the old times back in the day putting serious miles on stripped down bikes.
Imo, the bagger phase will never die out. It will always be a thing as will club style. Obviously, you have to actually ride one, either one, to really know why.
I ride a 2022 FXLRST and before that a 2008 Roadglide that I bought new. My ST is definitely set up club style 10.5 pullback risers, Odi mid bends, whiplash seat. The most comfortable and aggressive bike I have owned. Loren was right on when he said “ legs forward you’re not ready to make immediate corrections “. Spot on! If your ride isn’t reliable what’s the point. Thanks Mooch for the content.
If you ask Dago, they'll tell you it was their Charter who started building the bikes this way. If you ask Ventura… they'll say it was them. Either way, it started with the HAMC, set up for high speed and functionality
Usually back then, motorcycles is about either "function over form" or "form over function". But the way I see it, clubstyle is like a middle ground to that. Getting your bike to perform at it's peak without sacrificing comfort and style.
I’m no biker man but I have a huge interest in it. Not gonna lie man your perspective on a lot of things I respect you seem like genuine guy! I’m also from Portland Oregon!
I always rode a fxdx super glide sport , gunfighter seat style , 1/4 fairing , 6" risers ,with sportster bars , being a Ventura hells angels for 10 yrs rode 100 mph splitting lanes in traffic because I'm not stopping because it's either the law or the black and white behind you lol no offence moochlol😅
I just stumbled across this video. Very interesting and you’re very well spoken. I’ve never been into bikes but was definitely into the Suicidal scene back in the 90’s and I know you have a history with punk rock & skins. Happy to be here and following. Be safe and aware. -Kosher
@@MondaysWithMooch Question, did you ever meet any oldy moldy heads from Devils Disiples while in Oregon? No relation to the DD outside Oregon. They were active on a smaller scale from 70’s until the Mother prez died, and they disbanded. Outlaw was one of the big names, and he was Mother Prez son. I think they may have started Whitehurst Ministries in the 90’s.
If memory serves me right didnt the Frisco HA and maybe oakland use sporty tanks and modify the fuel tank on an angle with the spout at the very top to get more gas in the tank?
This was a good video, the definitive origins when it came to Clubstyle are usually shrouded and left up to speculation. An already niche coterie that gets even more niche outside of the West Coast and United States respectively. Especially with how it evolved and diverted and even split between the stunting scene of it and the mile crushing scene.
Funny, I didn’t have any idea anybody was doing all this when I did it to my 02 Wide Glide, brought that bike home brand spanking new (bought it on Sep 11, 2001 and it came in early January 2002) and took that bike home and put it in the garage for the winter, stripped it and made it my own. It has metamorphised several times since then but still runs and rides good for whatever I want to do with it. This was interesting listen. Thanks 🙏🏼
I remember when you started building up your switchback and reached out to me after I had set up mine with big bear choppers fairing. Now the low rider st is just a modern switchback
It used to be a lot harder to get the parts we wanted for that look. And I agree. The switchback was a shot in the right direction but missed. The ST was right on target
Losall..my dude! What’s up? Good to see you’re still making the fairing kits. Mooch, enjoyed the episode. Not many clubstyle bikes in my state, lots of baggers lol.
Excellent content Mooch Man! I myself ride a 2007 Dyna Street Bob Monster Chopper Trike due to an accident at work in the Quarry where I was in charge of Explosives Operations for 29 years, left me with a crippled left leg in 2009, Would have loved to have had a LRST But to trike it would destroy that handling that people say about, I wish that the LRST was around when I bought my brand new Fatboy back in 1992, it would have been a way better option for me back then, but no at the age of 60 my Ol' Skool Chopper Trike is just right for me and my Ol' Lady Jules, Mike from Wales over here in the UK 👍🤘😎🏴
To me club style is just the result of making the bike function better. More lean angle. Better geometry.. ditch the choppered out rake. and some wind protection.
Thank you sir. It’s been hit and miss. Been working on some other projects and been on other people’s channels so I haven’t been giving mine the attention it deserves
"Sport fairing with ape hangers... that just sets me off." Shot right at me 🤣🤣🤣 what if theyre mini-apes? 😂 i got the minis because it was different than the t-bars i saw everyone else doing, and i seem to be able to whip the bike around just fine. I am a newb though 🤷♂️🤣
I love the bike styles! Club, vicla, cholo, super redneck, classic stock, Bosozoku!!, naked, street fighter, stunt and so many more. Also who made their own parts? It was a pain but once you get it, no more overpriced goods
This was Great!! Hasn't motorcycle culture always been a bit of a fashion show? The whole thing with motorcycles is how you outwardly express yourself as an individual even within a MC. I do get the frustration of the social media clout chasing that is winning in the algorithm over racking miles. Maybe motorcycles are just the late bloomers to the phony/poser influencer plague that has been thriving on the rest of Social media.
Ya that’s what I’ve heard came from so cal club style just a certain club rocked that style at those times now it involved ‼️ dynas and fxrs weren’t really kool. then came along tv show series now everybody wanted one 😂3:55
I'm planning on getting either an FXR, DYNA, or a soft tail Low Rider S. I will definitely go club style. I like the look of the +1.5, 2" forks. But, hear people say they ride terrible like that. Is this true? I just can't see so many people in the clubs, who are riding hard using something that made their bikes run like crap?
to me the fxr hardtail with Tbars and mids is the ultimate club bike, fast, dependable n badass..Dyna's are nice but not a fan of fuel injected i had a lot of issues with my dyna, the evo fxr is a simpler design easier to wrench on if needed no bullshit censors
Speaking on reliability is the reason I chose my 20 Lrs over the 16/17 Dyna. I wanted the Dyna bad!!! But couldn’t justify the reliability problems of it over the m8. At the end of the day I want to ride to my destination and know that I’m gonna make it there.
@@04boostedboxer not from the research I have done. You might want to go do some research yourself. 110se eats lifters every 10k and is known to spin crank bearings at 50k. The cost to fix this compared to what it cost to build a m8 is a whole different topic. Not to mention the “dyna wobble”. The softail out performs the dyna in handling as well.
@@Saturdays_We_Volunteer your “research”? Ok bud. Come back to me when you have 20 years as a certified master HD technician under your belt. The twin cam motor as a whole, is far more reliable than the Milwaukee 8 has been since it was released. 🥱
@@04boostedboxer if you are a “certified technician” then you yourself would know the softail is the better performing platform. All of the “certified technicians” I know tell me m8 over twin cam. Ok I might have to replace a compensator. Whoopie!?!? A cam swap in a m8 produces way better numbers than a twin cam has to offer also.
I agree with you about the Road Glide Special. I rode across country twice and it’s a dependable, comfortable and joy to ride, all day. I also have two Dyna Wide Glides 👍🏻 Great video content guys !
Awesome video very informative and educational videos on motorcycles. God bless you Mooch, Buddha bless your family.❤❤❤😊😊😊 😂😂😂❤❤❤😅😅😅😍🔥❤️ #USMC #USAF #RCAF #RCMP #NASA #INAGAWA-KAI-FACTION #YAMAGUCHI-GUMI-CLAN #HUMANITARIAN #AMNESTY
I got a Syndicate Ventura Style bracket on my bike. I’m in a BIG4 East Coast club and a bunch of brothers CRY that my headlight is too high. It hits them in the eyes when they look at their mirrors 😭😭😭😭😭 I’m like grow up I don’t even have mirrors Lol
Performance Built > Clubstyle I see too many posers riding these "clubstyle" bikes with tons of money on it but can't even drag a peg around a corner. Go look at someone's bike and if they don't have scrape marks on the bottom of their lifted bikes pegs then they are just posers. Go look at Kruesi Orginals bikes.
"club style" is a copout for dudes who can't admit they got into riding because of Sons of Anarchy. Did the show invent it? No. Absolutely not, but the show brought it to light and made it popular.
Just my opinion but when all the FXR’s are parked at a show or at the bar they all look the same. Same bars same fairing same pipes and seat. The only real way to stand out anymore is you gotta CHOP your FXR or dyna.
