Regular driving my 1.8 tdci 2008 125hp stock mondeo I was fighting an audi a6, the guy said he was giving it all he had but couldn't keep up with me, I can guess 2 reasons, 1 his cars turbo wasn't working properly, 2 he was bullshitting me very convincingly just so he could be nice to me
Mondeo chasing C63 but being held up by a GT3....that's kinda like Smurfette chasing Carl Johnson but being held up by Usain Bolt...or something equally ridiculous
@@noddy680 Jeez, that's a nice amount of power. Just about to pick one up as a family car, but it's only running 280bhp thanks to Bluefin. Not sure whether that's the best starting route or where to go next. It would be nice to get some extra oomph out of it though!
@Lloyde Turner yeah I know all about the block mod mate. It was done before I started any other mods, along with the clutch & an LSD. It now has a forged RS block, which is also block modded as a precaution even though the liners are slightly different to the ST to help prevent that sort of thing.
@Lloyde Turner yeah it was built by people that really know their stuff, strong motor! I wanted an St225, but went for the Mondeo instead, more likely to ha e had an easy life. But it definitely doesn't get one now 😂 It's the chance you take with anything 2nd hand really, tuned cars are more likely to have been driven hard, it also serviced properly!
It's the group A cone filter & turbosmart recirc valve that make that noise. But I have a scorpion turbo back exhaust, with sports cat too, whi h makes it a bit louder!
That mondeo is nice.what turbo is it running, and what their real world fuel economy on them? Also are the mk2 focus st and rs wheels the same bolt pattern?tia
stok is 220 horses, on a stick its amazing. It sounds like hes modified turbo or at least downpipe with intake (blow off sound) and you can tune it till 280 no problems... soo i'd guess he has around 250-270 hps, but its only a front wd, sooo noo need to have more than 300 there... if there was awd, then it would make sense.
Cheers mate! 25-30 mpg when standard, under 20 when modified. Oil filter housing needs upgrading as the original one splits around the top. Rear trailing arm bushes are prone to wear. Good cars! 😁
Barrovic it's not that much heavier & I think the width & length make it more stable. The engine is the same, but ecu & fuel system is different, so a bit harder to tune than ST/RS
It's just a cheap phone holder off of eBay with a suction mount on the steering column. The app is racing meter, which is an add on to the torque pro app from playstore
Quite a lot on it now mate, had it over 4yrs now. Before going for any sort of power on these, I would 1st get a block mod done. Don't want to spend loads then crack a liner. A decent exhaust, group A filter, bigger injectors, intercooler & a stage 3 map will see you at 300hp easy. JWR have a good stage 3!
@Lloyde Turner from what I can rember as this was 2 years ago I didnt say anybody was making stuff up I was saying what power I've heard people making if you notice I ended the comment with people making 300+ In fact there's a bloke I used to watch he 4x4 converted his 2.5t not sure BHP but anything is achievable with the the know how and funds to accomplish
@@TheBraderz2010 As the fourth-gen Mondeo is on the same EUCD platform as the second-gen S80, I'm guessing a Haldex AWD system install is an easy-ish thing to do?
@@applejuice5272 somebody has done an AWD conversion using Volvo parts not sure which models though I’m sure he’s on RU-vid it’s a good watch goes into detail about the build aswell
Nick Holder what mods have you done if u dont mind me asking ? i wont be doing anything serious but probably just soft mods .exhaust cai .have u flashed the ecu?
Chris william I've had it for 3 yrs so can't list all the mods, but the basics are forged engine running a bigger RS turbo, exhaust filter etc. RS clutch & racing LSD, coilovers. It has a stage 4 map from JWRacing, I would recommend using them for maps as the ecu & fuel system is different from the the focus ST that the engine comes from & they have good maps for it at all stages.
