Mondeo Mk3 rear subframe poly bush install (project st220). This is part 2 of the Flo-flex Poly Bush Install on the rear subframe on my mondeo mk3.
Well firstly I would like to say i can now understand why people would totally remove the rear subframe and setting the old one's alight and even drilling them out while there still in the frame and on the car it self.
Well If you have got this far this is one of those jobs that can be done at home with some time but be warned it will take awhile to remove the old ones. Now my aim with this video was not to only install new poly bushes but a guide in case someone needs to replace the bushes in general due to wear and tear.
What else can i say but what a knightmare this turned out to be, when i lowered the subframe and looked closely where the bushes sat turned out to be damages so that means a replacement subframe but as i started i thought well may aswell keep going to show how this is done.
About halfway thru the video you can see how fed up i was getting, lol. I was once asked in a previous video is there any job i dont like well this i think is it.

This video marks the 150 video that i have uploaded to RU-vid. Ok I know that there are other ways to do this as i feel there is no right or wrong way to do this one, I have ordered the other tool to try on the other side. When i set out to do this one i wanted to fully remove the bushes in case someone needed to just renew/replace there's. I have sourced another sub frame so the other side will be done at the same time and i will show the other ways to remove them. Ive owned a mk2 mondog v6 ghia x,a mk3 ghia estate 2litre petrol, and presently a 3.0 ghia x modog,same engine as ST but single cat 204 bhp as opposed to twin cat ST 225bhp.. just had new dual mas and slave and plate..they have to drop the front sub to get access..£1,630 quid...That was at ford main dealer MSF ford,when i asked about retaining the old dual mass flywheel they said that would cost me another £75.00 quid?? Wish i had a decent garage.. Like all your work on the mk3 mondeo you do,you must have the patience of a saint.. I consider the mk3 one of the best ford ever made,a true drivers car, very agile for its size Anyhow keep up the good work..Des

Cheers Des, i would totally agree. And yeah i tend to get asked that about my patience lol, over the winter i will hopefully be doing the clutch my self in my little garage and filming it. I like helping people save some money and giving peeps the confidence to try these jobs themself. Hope you like and have considered subscribing 😀

Good old bush pullers. Have had to make a few before as I was a too tight to buy one! I miss my mk3!

Bit of advice if you don't have the special tool. Get a cordless drill with quite a large drill bit in it. Insert it in the hole and move the bit in a circular motion this will extract the Bush then you push the new one back in.

I'm getting a headache with those bushes, they are so noisy while worn. I was considering to change them myself but daaaaamn, hell of a job. Gonna better put the car to mechanic. :D Good vid!

Good work, Chazz. Have you considered removing the subframe from the car and burning the bush rubbers out while leaving the outer sleeve in the subframe? then it's just a case of cleaning the remaining rubber/rust out with a flapwheel/wire wheel in a drill and then press the new poly bush in. It just means you don't have to mess about pressing the bushes out and then back in.

Good stuff! What was it that made you change them? Any kind of noise in particular? Mine sounds horrendous over small bumps but I’ve checked the bushes and they still seem good. I know for sure the shocks are goosed so I’ll be changing those next week

@@jimmykilbride9762 there was no noise i thought maybe time to change them as dont know when they was done last and ive had the car 4 years and thought if im changing them may aswell put poly bushes in

Did you get the track arm Polybushes from Duraflex? Can't remember where you posted about them. Have you fitted them yet?

hi there, saw your fist video; why not use a press to remove/install bushing. that mondeo isnt too popular in america, I happen to have one and would like to get those bushings. where can one do so?

hiya the tool i used is a removal tool for the bushes from the sub-frame. I got these from flo-flex on ebay. i understand USA cars are different i would look around online for a place that makes bushes.

Just figured what my squeak is, when i got my subframe back from the powder coaters, those sleeves weren't there, I've only just discovered they exist. 😡. I'll see if he can fabricate some, if not, new subframe.

you mean the bushes sleeves, just buy some bushes and then poly bush them. Bet it looks the nuts now don't it

Does look good, and easy to clean, just looked at o.e bushes, £25 on Ebay, set of those and swap the bushes over

@@jamesbettell thats the one mate, im still working away on the front subframe the bushes are all out but to cold to paint it at the moment
