it's almost always better to book through a travel specialist partnered with the cruise line versus the cruise directly. It's not just cheaper, but they offer more freebies.

Thanks so much guys, these are great tips on added expenses. I hadn't heard about Port taxes? Are there Port taxes associated with your MSC cruise? Thanks K
Hi Kay, Port taxes are automatically included in the price when you book. Depending on where in the world you are when you book it may be already in the price or added on at the end of your booking. It will show this when you are going through your booking.
Guys, in the UK, do you recommend booking direct or via a agent? I never seem to find any bargains through them. I know some people don't have the time or inclination so like the convenience of leaving it to an agent, but I like doing the research!
Hey Teresa, We have done both and both have pros and cons. If you are happy to do the research yourself I would say don't be afraid to book direct. You are dealing with the cruise company directly so any changes or payments you wish to make you do this yourself. However, if you would like some guidance and help, a travel agent can give that to you.
