How do you keep an address in US if no relatives?
@bigmatyboy1
@bigmatyboy1 6 месяцев назад
@@grigorirasputin425 I Googled your question, here's the response: "Can I maintain a US address even if I live abroad? Using a virtual mailbox means you will have instant, reliable access to your US mail and can maintain a US address (and US bank accounts) while living abroad. For many expats, these benefits are well worth the minor monthly fees." Sep 15, 2023 Apparently Old Dog uses one. I'm trying to figure out which service is the best for me. Take care.

Great info, Joseph...! That's an issue I'm struggling with. I might end up living in the Philippines until the end of my days and never needing to use Medicare Part B. It would essentially be an unnecessary and potentially costly form of insurance. However, what if I decide to move back to the US? Or what if I simply want to return for a medical procedure or emergency that is routine in the US? So, perhaps it's wiser to err on the side of caution?

The sad part in all this is that it appears that Ken has not done anything to show his appreciation for what Derek and his subscribers have done to help him. Bernadetta, the filipina lady who housed and fed Ken, should be commended also. Kudos to Derek for helping her to fix her house.👍🏝🇵🇭

I've followed Derek for about a year, he really does go out of his way to help people in and around his community. Ken was in really bad shape when Q started helping him and the great thing about that situation is Q also help the elderly lady that took Ken off the streets. Absolutely as that is why so many of us gave Derek some money to assist in remodeling and fixing her house up as she sacrificed so much as she makes less then $50 a week and supported him for months with not a dime from Ken ever being given or repaid. Derek is a wonderful guy and I truly appreciate his willingness to step-in a help expats in distress. The world needs more Dereks. The world does not need any Mark Thorntons. This morning Dumaguete residents should be asking themselves if their community would be better off with Mark Thornton or Paul Cardwell. Cardwell might have baggage but he's a likeable, amiable guy and not an evil backstabbing bully like Thornton. I'm guessing Paulie will silence me because he wants to obscure the nasty influence that people like Thornton have imported into his adopted homeland. That's his prerogative.

Hats off to those that undertake what I would characterize as "Adult Welfare Cases". It should serve as a "Red Flag" to those that don't have the necessary financial stability nor the necessary "Financial Common Sense" not move to any foreign country. It's good that some people have decided to assist and aide these persons that have, for the most part, voluntarily put themselves into bad situations. I have been living in the Philippines for 9 months. The information from channels like Paul's, Jennifer Terri's, and several others helped me greatly in preparing to come to the Philippines. I am returning to the USA in late May and I'm not sure whether I will return. The best part of my Philippines experience has been the weather and the cost of living. It has been my experience that the friendliness of the Philippine people has been greatly exaggerated, bearing in mind I live in the Cebu Metro Area. Congrats to those that have made a successful transition to living in the Philippines.

It's not true what your stating Paul. If one visits the local barangay there are facilities for homeless, plus free medical care for all. I personally obtained help for a homeless broke guy from the US, including IC care, an operation and he could of availed of an amputation how ever declined. His last months were spent in an evacuation center, regular care from DSWD, including doc visits, free care, and food. Sadly he passed last week. I hear often said there is no help, rubbish, one needs to porter barangay THERE IS HELP.

😎👍🇺🇲 I recently ran across Ken's story and watched most of the videos. It really was a remarkable thing Darrick did. Then of course the whole Ground Zero debacle started popping up on my feed. 🙄 OMG people. I digress. He's right. The back story isn't really important at that time. Ken was so far gone that it didn't really matter if it was most or all of his own doing. Getting him healthy enough to travel was more important. I'm sure most of the problems in a foreign country come from being slightly gullible and less aware of the signs. Not to mention. Some old people can get and downright cantankerous. Which can hamper getting assistance. Ken seemed like a decent old dude. Just got himself in a series of unfortunate circumstance. That's why these videos are so helpful. They Really give the would-be retiree a leg up on arranging the steady income stream. Personally, I have a clue what to do now, if choose the peens as a place to go. So much valuable information for us to consider before packing our bags. I hope to return in the Fall for another investigation vacation. Maybe I'll roll through Dumagety (spelling) for a look see. Maybe all the drama surrounding Ground Zero will have dissolved by then😏 Anyway. Cheers from Fluffy in the PNW Seattle WA area.✌️

I was thinking of selling my house and retiring permanently in Philippines, but I think I will keep my house as a backup. I might have to work 3 more years and retire at 57 but I rather do that then risk being homeless in a foreign country

@violaceeous5837- I have the same thought. I thought also of keeping the house and renting the bedrooms out to expats needing a permanent address in the U.S.
@napoleonmdusa8877
@napoleonmdusa8877 6 месяцев назад
@@JohnSmith-ti2kp let us know if you do that--renting out a "domicile" address to expats. I'll be in need of something like that when I retire to the Philippines in 2025--I wouldn't even need a bedroom, just a box in room or garage so I can use that address as my domicile address for my brokerage while retired in the Philippines.

@@napoleonmdusa8877 Keep in touch, we may be able to work that out. Also, it is possible to use a safety deposit box at a bank for important papers and such. What area of the Philippines are you interested in?

Money Matters in the Philippines/Expats Going Broke in the Philippines. Where in the world you can find a place where money doesn't matter? You need money to eat, to maintain your life while you are still alive you need money when you get sick. If you don't have money coming to Ph who would take care of your needs? Well, there are still Filipinos who are willing to extend help just in case but hello, in reality wherever you go you need money NOT just in the Philippines. But one thing is for sure you can still survive your days here in the Philippines if not a year without money because of Filipinos' generosity and their helping hands, which you can't find anywhere in the world.

I remember reading a story on the internet years ago. There was an older Australin man found in Saigon Vietnam. He was sleeping on a discarded sofa in an ally. He had some mental problems that I do not recall . But he could not function or take care of himself. No one knows how he got to Vietnam because he did not have a passport or required documents for entering the country. Basically somehow a crazy guy got on the plane and got off in Vietnam. Eventually the embassy was notified and got him back home.

I would to just point out that is a bit rich to call the guy dishonest or dumb. None of us know the back story, and he didn't come across as a liar, more so a very old malnourished guy perhaps with early dementia who had fallen on hard times. Plus didn't Ken say that the pastor took him on b4 his pensions got cut off and was actually accessing these directly? Good on Derek for what he has achieved and a very big shout to the lady who cared for him. Paul, can you guarantee that one day your faculties won't fail you. Not everyone has a loving wife like you do to care of them.
