When my cousin Claude died this year I listened to this song constantly because I felt like the world had stop. We haven’t talked in months and I wanted to visit him because he meant so much to my family! His presence was so amazing and he was like a father figure to me because he reached out to me a lot and I’m so sad that I never got the chance to see him again but I know in heaven he’s living his life!!
I love your music Monica and you style of dress, not to mention your attitude and how you carry yourself. You are truly an inspirational person love it lol. Keep shinning many blessings to you and your family, thank you for your beautiful music.
Loved this at age 9... I had the cassette lol...but loved it....favorite song street symphony, "Ring the bell", gone be fine feat Outlast and "keep it to myself" ;-)
Monica is a soulful singer who's matured beautifully & still can beat out these r&b singers with her powerful vocals!! She's an original artist & never changed up to fit but she's still my fav singer love her!
YES!!!VERY TRUE!!!this ver,and cover is the BEST!!! and, thats why i covered this song on here!!!;P GREAT-EST!!! im so glad that i could touched this song!!!
@BlaqueReign25 Hmm, actually she did cover this song. The original was done by Richard Marx in 1989. "Angel of Mine" also wasn't originally Monica's song either. It was originally written and recorded for a group called Eternal in 97. Her team got the rights for the song before Eternal could release the song as a single in the US, so it appeared on her sophomore album in 98.
Leave it to Monica to transform a late 80s Richard Marx ballad that most old people would listen to, intro a pretty underrated late 90s R&B song that is much better!
@hamrto1 I know that she covered this song, I was saying that I only knew of two songs she had covered besides this one, so in other words I could remember three songs that she has covered. You are right about Angel of mine, my brain had just drawn a blank on that one for a minute and I couldn't think of who did it first. As I remember it now Eternal did the song in memory of Princess Diana, after she passed. Their version of the song is slightly different if I am not mistaken.
