Way to make a guy jump back to Xmas '06 in Reno. This song hits my heart every time I hear it. I love the song, but it came out when I was going through a hard time (a year after graduating HS and trying to figure out what I wanted and who I am). And I went through some depression with it. There were times I couldn't even listen to this, it was just so haunting. And during that time I temporarily moved to a big city (small town girl here) with stars in my eyes, but of course reality came in quick and I realized how 'the big city' can chew you up and spit you out. Sometimes I was honestly emotionally masochistic and would listen to this on my ipod while walking the city streets, feeling so lost. But I'm much stronger now and this song actually brings me comfort. Thank god.

What a selfless song. From the video, it looks like he’s still just as in love with her as she is, or at least wishes her well. Who knows? But at the end of the day, it is true that in some cases like this, two people who do deeply love each other shouldn’t be together for their own sakes. It may not have been infidelity or something terrible that tore them apart, but whatever it was can’t be forgotten and may not be able to be mended. Or they just weren’t a good match. So she pretends to move on despite how much she loves him and is very graceful about it to keep them both from getting hurt further. Love this.

Just seen Dido on TV and it brought this song back to me. I had a terminal cancer and was quite ill in hospital. The words in the chorus though were an inspiration when it was played. And I won't put my hands up and surrender There will be no white flag above my door. I am still around and enjoying your music. Thanks Dido

No, she isn't underrated because she was a huge pop idol in her generation (early 00's). But then, she decided to take a brake and make a family. When she came back, a lot of new singers like...yes, the Taylors, the Katys and Mileys took her place. Now Dido's albums are just a bunch of masterpieces on nostalgia trips. World changes and keeps spinning everyday, bro. And even the pop stars couldn't escape from that.

I went through my divorce in 2007 and this was what was playing. We had a 3 year daughter and I was absolutely devastated. Her voice takes me back to those moments when I didn't think I could ever get through. My daughter left for college this week and she's thriving. We made it and Dido voice feels like my inner strength now talking to me. Pretty fucking awesome ; - )

Yes. I ended up as a single dad. My daughter finished uni and has a great life now and is happy. We can do it man, and once through the storm, life can be better than it ever was . Love of our child is above all else there is.

This was me and my aunt's song. I lost her in 2008. We sung it all the time together on singstar. She was an amazing person and I loved her immensely. 8 years later and this song still hurts like hell. They played it on the radio on the radio, for the first time I brought fourth a smile rather than a tear. God how much I miss her.
