I'm French & I completely agree with U about the fact Monika Liu & this song convey something very French both. It's not only the singer's voice but also her gesture. It's a whole. This song & the artist's performance remind me of old French music'hall songs from the 1960's to 80's. Yes, there's something willingly old-fashioned - like the funky-jazz drums - but it has subtlety been mixed with some modern features (the mesmerizong bass line & some discreet electronic music elements). Moreover Liu really enjoys performing this song: she has truly fun, what makes her give a sexy touch to the song... naturally & elegantly. This is why we can think about old French - and also American - movies of the 50's-60's in which actors & actresses wore classy outfits most of time. I do like this song & the artist. I would like to see Lithuania rank high & why not win at last! This country has been one of my very fav' ESC competitors for some years. I can say that I feel a kind of tenderness for it: i have a Lithuanian roommate at home. This man has become like a member of my family. Thus it makes me have strong bonds with his native country in my heart. Moreover, music scene is particularly creative & good in Lithuania. I found out so many talented singers & musicians last year. I find it interesting that you all got something French from this. Maybe it is just the haircut, the 1970s retro style, the spirit fingers, and the jazzy undertones of the song - but I was definitely getting some heavy Liza Minelli vibes from this performance.

The black foam line is a reference to an old Lithuanian fairy tale, The Queen of Snakes. In the tale, the queen's husband is killed and when she asks the sea for him, she only gets bloody (read: black) seafoam. This means that Monika is actually singing about a lover of hers who has since died. I think she is just happy to have had the memories of him that she does, even if he is gone.
