I have to check out the video with the lyrics...thanks! This song is my number 3...and has been for a long time. Laid back, mysterious...gorgeous. I really liked by Not my mother too for the NF. Would also be a great entry.
Yea I really want Lolita Zero to go at some point. I was a little disappointed with her staging cos it was kind of static compared to what it could have been. I think she was in with a chance to win this year
This is just really interesting and different from the rest of the pack, a mix of jazz and French disco or something, really hard to pinpoint but really catchy. I love that Mireille Mathieu hairdo! Lithuanian sounds really cool, and very clever that they've picked a word which is very recognizable for everyone as the song title. I mean, I liked their entry last year better, but it's nice to see Lithuania finally finding its feet in Eurovision. Btw there's my favourite t-shirt again, yay! 🙂
The things I like about the Lithuanian entry this year is the artist herself. She's seriously cool. She gives me some seriously good 70's vibes. Her haircut and outfit are fabulous and she gives the song her everything. Personally for me though, the song is an absolute snoozefest. I like little parts of it, but on the whole, the pace is so sleepy and plods along gently. There's literally no energy, BUT, it definitely IS quality and its not the worst song of the competition by far. The artist is the best thing here for me,
I felt that the first time too, some of those visuals and the way she was acting in the visuals kind of distracted me from that a little though. Also I didn’t realise their QF record was so good, they’ve obviously got a decent delegation
@@ESCTom Your reply made me laugh out loud! - and yeah, I guess i sounded mad! What I mean is, the tone of her voice and the delivery. I'm not talking disco dolly SAW Kylie but the way she delivers in songs like Confide in Me. Seriously, play the Monika song with your eyes closed and imagine it's Kylie in sultry mode singing in Lithuanian. Honestly, there IS something there...! Then again, oh damn, maybe it IS only me lol...
Don’t know quite what to make of this one. I think it’s one of those songs that will either do very well or else quite badly. My Mum gave me the same haircut as a small child.
I think it has a lot of momentum and support behind it that could push it through but this is not a genre I enjoy listening to and I don't feel anything for the song
Oh God, i was dreading this review video Tom I have loved Luthuania in the ESC for years. Donny Montel mk2, Ieva in 2018 and both entries by The Roop (were my winners in both years) were fantastic and was really looking forward to this year's entry. I totally respect the choice of a nation's voters and the contest wasn't even close in Lithuania. Monika won jury and televote all the way through the competition. So there was no denying the worthiness of the win. Well done Monika 👏 On a personal note, this song just does nothing for me. For my taste,, i skip this when it comes on. The staging looks impressive but if i want to listen to a chill vibe song, then i would put on the song from Portugal. 😪😪😪
well i was kind of dreading doing this too cos i remember thinking it was meh, but i was pleasantly suprised by the music video actually. i had this as a no hoper NQ, but ive changed that opinion now
@@ESCTom still hasn't lifted in my estimations. Isn't that the beauty of our community. All our opinions are valid. Just no need for malice or vindictiveness. I wish more people had a little more repectfulness of each other
oh yea its insane. saw someone on twitter today who posted this vitriolic post about Australia's song being the worst song ever in history, whats the f*ing point in that?
"Not your mother" was much better, way more catching and impactful. Let alone that exceptional electronic sound it had and the avant-garde staging. Tom, I don't find Sentimentai timeless. It's a neo-retro French Cabaret song of the 20s - 30s, following the steps of the concept of Barbara Pravi last year. I find the song quite flat, the chorus is weaker than the verses, and in a year full of very strong ballads, it will get lost. In Semi 1, it will fight - I guess - with Iceland, Armenia, and Portugal. And Armenia and Portugal will win. I don't see Lithuania going through to the final.
yea but I think Lolita messed up her staging. It was too static and i think she could have won if it had been better. I think neo-retro French Cabaret is enough of a niche that this could stand out. I have a feeling this could take one of the 9-10th QF spots
