Monitor Audio Bronze 5 with Marantz NR1200 test 

I could only share experience from the friend of mine. He replaced AVR with Marantz PM6006 stereo integrated and he is happy now. If you plan to go that route - stereo, stereo integrated amps should be better option. I wanted to keep video capabilities so I picked this one. So far, so good.

Like most of the speakers with smaller drivers, they like to turn the volume up. The thing is that I don't listen to music very loud and I feel that I would benefit with some speakers with larger drivers than these. This setup still sounds nice to me, but Bronze 6 would be perhaps better option for my type of listening to music.

Currently, I have Jamo 507 150w RMS speakers, sufficient for a small living room and an older version of the Sony amplifier where they play very loud and, above all, clean and clear, in addition I have a Sony CD player with a 16 bit converter and everything sounds very beautiful. best regards

Source was internal HEOS with Spotify. Phone is just remote in this scenario.

@@edphi just pick device connect and that device will take over streaming. You don't stream from your phone that way, but the device that you chose.

@@grahmpike9032 I settled with Tidal after trying Deezer, Spotify, Qobuz. HEOS supports Tidal and the quality is great.

There is a difference but I'm not sure that I would do well in blind test. :) I'm not very good to describe sound quality but I feel that Tidal HiFi has more 'air' in the music and highs are more detailed, when I compare it to Spotify high quality.

Update: So I did went ahead and got NR1200, pairing with B&W 607. I do enjoyed the sound, but must say am disappointed with the Heos app, which was not very responsive, just very slow! So am thinking if I should get separate music streamer.

@@kelvotan213 if it helps, I rarely use HEOS at all. I connected Chromecast third generation and most of the time, I'm using native applications to cast over Chromecast to NR1200. It is perfectly fine option up to 16bit/44,1kHz. I'm using Tidal much more these days, so I'm also looking for dedicated streamer that supports MQA. Bluesound Node 2i perhaps... Not sure, but thinking about it.

Using HEOS.

I had smaller Bronze 5, and although they are more neutral than 3050i, I didn't get enough bass during listening on lower volumes. These 3050i provide enough bass even at lower volumes.

I don't expect for this system to go too low. Law of physics. Small drivers. However, I did expect to be 'faster', to have faster bass response. Overall, I'm satisfied with bass. I would like to have more tempo, but I would probably need to look for it in higher series of speakers.

I read somewhere that the subwoofer is on by default on the receiver, once you turn that off the bass is router to the speakers. I’m sorry if I’m wrong.

Yes, of course. NR1200 is capable device. It has nice control over bass.

@@user-el2zj3pw5r don't have any experience with Sonos amp. I couldn't say which one is better for your speakers. Both options seems nice for all in one solutions. Marantz is AB class amp, Sonos D class amp. There could be difference in sonic signature.

Marantz odlično odrađuje posao. Vrlo je svestran 'all around' uređaj. Imaš sve što ti treba u jednom uređaju. Yamaha možda ima bolju remote aplikaciju MusicCast. Recimo, HEOS ne podržava Deezer HiFi, dok MusicCast podržava.

Ja imam NR1606 i ovaj NR1200 me privlaci. Koji su ovo zvucnici?

@@audiophilipp Ja bih isto htio da imam nešto tako sve u jednom... ali čuo sam nekoliko stereo receivera, i u usporedbi sa integriranim pojačalom do 500€, svaki receiver je davao mutan, muljav zvuk, sa slabim basom iako po specifikacijama piše kao 2x75w ili više... ali recimo NAD C316bee sa 2x40w ih prešiša sve. Tako da ipak je najbolje uzet pojačalo sa DAC-om, streamer, CD player, tuner... Dali koristiš DAC u Yamahi, jeli dobar?

After one month I would say that I'm satisfied with either one of them. They both have some flaws like speakers need space around them to have better control over lower frequencies and HEOS could be a little better regarding supporting native streaming apps besides Spotify but that's something that is probably related more to development teams of those apps. Other than that, for the money I got these brand new, it is still hard for me to find something better. And the best thing is that I don't look for better options at the moment, which speaks for itself. :)

My preference is Cambridge. Really nice amp.

Series 8000 of Marantz is significant upgrade regarding sound quality but you will loose lots of handy features (no streamer capabilities for example and much less connection options I believe). Series 6000 is on par with NR1200 I would say. NR1200 is really good all in one device at it's price point. You would need to spend at least twice much to get audible results with all the features that NR1200 has.

@@triffon74 Yes. You would get better sound quality with 8000 series. You would also need source component - network streamer for example.

Q Acoustics 3050i mi je bio bolji. Veći zvuk. Bronze 5 nisu bili tako dobri prilikom tišeg slušanja. Trebalo ih je pojačati dosta da bi bilo ok. Ali opet... Silver serija je odlična od MA.

Hvala na odgovoru. Naručio sam Fyn Audio F303, ali su mi pomiješali boje i vratio sam ga. Iznad svega bih preferirao čiste vokale, što nisam dobio od Q Acoustica. Vjerojatno najlakša odluka za ovu vrijednost je Wharfedale Diamond 12.3 koji ima najviše dobrih recenzija?

More convenient due to all-in-one philosophy. Better regarding sound quality? Probably at the same level, I would say.

It's ok. It serves the purpose pretty well - to have everything in one device, primarly used for streaming service as a source for music. I would say that it is pretty good match for these Monitor Audio floorstanders. Decent sound on a budget.
