Vivekananda was not a religious baba!!! He was a philospher , a saint who always thought about issues that normal human beings face, he was/is a guide. To understand his teachings you need different level of intellect, very few people have that unfortunately. Anyways I am a Krishna Bhakt. But I keep Vivekananda as my Icon my Idol.❤

By reading a book you can become an well-versed monk practicing what you believe but you can never be a yogi. One who understands this understands what vivekanand maharaj is.

I hate when people conflate hinduism with vegetarianism. Even in hindu literature you'll see diversity in terms of views relating to various topics. So basically you might disagree with each other on various topics but you can still call yourself a hindu at the end of the day. (All vegetarians are not Hindu and all Hindus are not vegetarian)

Sidh purush ke andar jealousy bhi nahi honi chaiye jo iske andar hai

Hitler was vegetarian. does that make him siddh as well? To become siddh you have to be conscious in what you do irrespective of your diet. Being vegetarian may help but that does not mean non vegetarian can not be divine. Swami vivekananda was more satvik than any of these people which Paramhansa Ramakrishna also testified. Being satvik is not about diet but about vichardhara.

Before criticising Swami Vivekanandaji Maharaj, one has to understand the time and era of that century..How Vivekanandaji prepared himself to visit Chicago at that time.. One simple information, it took him 3 months to cross the ocean.. Todays generation compares it with modern flight journey..Just imagine, his aura and what was going on his mind to represent Indian theology in front of first world.. Our ancestors never consume fish for taste, it was need of survival. kolkata and big part of bengal resides banks of the ganga river so for our ancestors it was easy to rely upon the ganges for food. Though we are rich in fertile land but sometimes the droughts hits very badly on the mainland. So what could be our last option ? And from that we developed our taste into having fish.

I do not take these iskconites very seriously the only thing I admire about them is Krishna bhakti. They even twisted bhagavadgita according to their whims and fancies.

Whoever has read Vivekananda books will know how powerful were his thoughts than these comedians.

Amogh lila's gesture is nothing close to a monk. His hand movements and voice were so inappropriate as if he copied his style from Bollywood actors . He is no close to the knowledge taught in the Bhagavad Gita. It is clearly mentioned in the Bhagavad what should be the words and intonation of a sadhu. Swamijis words used to influence our freedom fighters who used to carry his books with themselves. In Geeta, Bhagaban told Arjuna to fight for his Dharma. It was Arjuna 's Dharma to kill. Just like swamiji inspired the freedom movement with his fire words . Even in that time, there were preachers like this self proclaimed monk whose only duty is to earn money by commanding people not to skip his advertisement. If this organisation tries to create a turmoil among the sanatanis,then these people should be boycotted. Very few people are left religious in Hinduism. And people like amogh are only aggravating this situation by creating necessary comments on fooding habit. He is not even 0.00001% close to swamiji. I am Bengali & Swami Vivekananda , Rabindranath Tagore, Netaji Subhas Chandra are the names i will be proud of forever and Amogh lila is the man who made me interested in my Sanatan Dharma which my parents could not. If Swami Vivekananda was alive today he would not make this a scene, in fact he would praise Amogh Lila for making the youth to know about their dharma. Swami ji himself focused on Youth mostly. Amogh lila can be very easily framed with few short clips, as his style is different from other katha bachak that is why he became very popular in the youth, we can easily connect with him. So this kind of videos will not affect me, I watch his whole videos not short clips and don't start to judge.

Swami Vivekananda can never be understood by a layman. To understand Him one need to practice spirituality. I am a vegitarian by birth but I don't have objection regarding Swami's food habits because Sri Ramakrishna once said that Narendra is a Gyani and he can cut all his karmas by just his one insightful thought. But to other disciples, Sri Ramakrishna always emphasised to follow vegitarian diet. Swami Vivekananda wasn't an ordinary person like you and me. I read the complete Vivekananda Literature during my graduation and there I read that he can read number of books within a very short period of time and not only he can read but also explain and give his own reasons in connection to the author's context and this was possible only because of His Brahmagyan and Brahmacharya. Also many a time He took his disciples in a deep meditative state and it is showing that he is a true spiritual guru. This I read in the book, "Swami Vivekananda: His Eastern and Western Disciples." To read and understand Vivekananda literature is not everybody's cup of tea.

The problem is that if one thinks only their way is true and established and rest are fake…

Vivekananda was against prejudices and ill practices. He was a very practical person. Vivekananda's philosophy is very much different than Iskon. There are many aspects of Hinduism. Charvakya, Madhyamika many more & their philosophies are different. How can you not respect the diversity of Hinduism. There are many people in india eat meat , fish all of them are bad?? IsKCON has this problem of seeing everything low and keeping their beliefs high.

One should raise the mind above to understand Swami Vivekananda. Swami Vivekananda's awakening calls and efforts putforth for the Nation and his literary work to educate the world with Vedanta all in a short span of his lifetime, extremely difficult to accomplish by others. We can only salute our patriotic monk Swami Vivekananda for the legacy he left behind.

This gentleman took the meaning in another way, he took it straight as a standard 2 student. In the context of India under British rule he encouraged youths to be strong. He was shakti sadhak, so no restriction on fish. For seven hundred years even Bengali Brahmins are taking non-vegetarian food because of the situation.

Bitter truth

Swami Vivekananda was born into shakta parampara where fish is even offered to goddess durga and Kali puja bhog in Bengal.. While, iskcon with its vaishnav parampara which is vegetarian and even avoids garlic and onions and is dedicated to worship of Krishna, also has its origin in Bengal .

In Bengal , Shakta tradition is followed by many inspirational personalities like Sadhak Ramprasad, Rajanikanta , Ramakrishna Paramhans ji ,Bama khyapa and many others. In the temples of Maa Kali , it is very normal to offer fish , sura(alcohol) as mother's bhog. In Shakta tradition sacrifices of animals are also very normal practices. You may differ with it or may not. Swami Vivekananda had his GURU of Shakta tradition. In Hinduism, there are different traditions , different practices but all lead to the SAME destination, the highest realization. The way Amogh Lila ji, gave his pravachan on other traditions of Hinduism, it was derogatory in nature. Inspite of giving lectures on others, Amogh Lila Ji should work on his spiritual development. In the age of social media, people try to make such comments for publicity only. No one will remember Amogh Lila ji after 100 years but Swami Vivekananda will be remembered forever.

Sometimes we get caught up into frantically following principles and feeding the ego into judging others that we forget the real purpose of our spiritual practice..

Swami Vivekananda will be revered and remembered for the way he enlightened the west with the essence of Sanatan Dharm and not for eating fish. Similarly Lila Amogh Swamy will be remembered for some of his beautiful speeches he had delivered earlier and not for this. Such statements are neither caled for and totally avoidable. People need to understand difference between Dwait and Advaita. Vivekanad was follower of Advaita but he always told the significance of Bhakti Yoga and how Dwaita philosphy is important.

This is the problem with the different sects and ideologies of hindus , they should keep in mind the honour and respect of other faiths, I have often seen Iskon , traditionalists, Arya Samaji , and other sects of hinduism fighting amongst each other. We have co existed with each other since years and all of them are supposed to serve Sanatan dharm in , without disturbing the harmoney.
