It’s a concrete jungle of sorts. These monkeys, originally from Africa, have found a home wedged in between the Fort Lauderdale Airport and Port Everglades. Now, FAU has expanded its anthropology lab to study the Monkeys of Dania Beach.
I argue that this is their native habitat now too. Surely the monkies alive are not the same monkies that were in the "zoo" in the 40's. If it's a generation or two in these monkies only know that area so for all intent and purposes it's their native habitat now.
In south Florida we love our monkeys , the mangroves they live in , literally nothing lives there except bugs and small reptiles , the monkeys have been here longer than most residents. Love em.
