#MonkeysOfMumbai #BollywoodMonkeySuperstar #MumbaiMusical Monkeys of Mumbai was a cancelled DreamWorks Animation film. It was scheduled for a March 2017 release, but was cancelled in January 2015.
I think it’s just precious how dreamworks has genuinely ambitions and artistically competent ideas like this, the shadow one and the Australian one but they’re like “NAH DUDE LETS GIVE THE PEOPLE TWO CROODS MOVIES, BOSS BABY MOVIES AND TROLLS MOVIES”
I honestly blame crossover shippers for the loss of DreamWorks musical ideas because instead of supporting musical ideas they were like nah crossing over Disney and DreamWorks is more fun. Now isn’t that stupid.
@@vexillumvixen6054 No they didn’t Vivo and Monkeys of Mumbai were two separate monkey musicals at DreamWorks that were both cancelled at the same time.
I think its rlly sad how a story tht seems to have so much potential could be thrown under the rug like tht.... I know theres a lot of executive work behind a film, not only creative, but still... this looked great
Such a shame that all these scrapped DreamWorks movies will never get to see the light of day, this one especially since the music and songs sounded amazing
The film’s editor was Michael Andrews, the head of story was Brian Pimental, the production designer was Tang Kheng Heng, the head of character animation was Pierre Perifel, the head of layout was Chris Stover, and the art director was Ron Kurniawan. These are some names I found by looking around online. If you have any other people to add then let me know so I can publicly expose the amazing people who made this forgotten masterpiece possible. Thanks!
Dreamworks should've given them a chance to release it, But i think Sony could revive it, Just like they did with Vivo! But if they revived it i think they should release it on Netflix, Because we have a pandemic and all and watching movies from your home is PERFECT! My high hopes are still up for Monkeys of Mumbai i hope it will be revived on the years 2022 or 2023!
I WOULD LIKE THAT ONE DAY REPROPOSE THIS FILM TO BE ABLE TO SEE IT ON PLATFORMS LIKE NETFLIX AND ALSO THE FILM Larrikins(BILBY). BECAUSE I am very curious to see their works and their stories because they seem very beautiful and fascinating. I really hope so.
@@vexillumvixen6054 Sorry but ... where did you find this information? I want to read it to look for the possible release date of the film and the director's statement. Please.
Also, the production manager was Rachel Zusser, the supervising technical director was TJ Jackson, the surfacing supervisors were Paolo Jose deGuzman and Sabrina M. Riegel, the character technical director supervisor was Rob O’Neill, and the head of effects was James Jackson. If you find any other names of those who made this possible, please let me know!
Leif Jeffers and Bryce McGovern are character animators and have some high quality clips on vimeo of Monkey of mumbai. Mcgovern in particular has some animated shots which I haven't seen anyone post on YT yet.
I grew up with my dad introducing ramayana comics to me and my favorite character used to be hanuman, I seriously did not expect Dreamworks had this in the works. BUT THEN FOR SOME REASON CANCELLED IT They gotta make it a reality someday alongside Larrikins
I love the animation and humour. Though not sure using a figure from holy texts was a good choice. These things can get real controversial. They could have made an original villain instead of Ravana. Either way, Im really disappointed that this was cancelled. It had amazing potential.
@@studentebassosebastian1167 yeah except Hinduism is a religion that millions of people currently follow unlike Ancient Greek or Egyptian religions where it’s died out. But even then I’m 1000% sure they consulted religious and cultural leaders to make sure it’s not offensive or controversial.
From what I gathered, the main characters would have been a pair of regular monkey brothers living in the streets of Mumbai, who would have ended up at the filming of a musical adaptation of the Ramayana, and then get involved with actual gods...
It was cancelled because of the studio's recent slew of box office bombs like "Mr. Peabody & Sherman" and "Penguins of Madagascar". Comcast's purchase of DreamWorks also had something to do with it.
To make it even more worse Kevin Lima, the film’s director, doesn’t think the film will ever see the light of day. He says he’s asked Dreamworks to revive the project from time to time, but they always give the same answer. And Lima has attempted to bring the movie to other studios to see if they would like to fund it. He hit all the major animation studios, but the price tag of the movie scared all them away.
¿Superstar es un cover de una canción conocida o es 100% original? Ahora, si retoman esto, por favor que tenga más canciones originales en vez de covers, que no sea como en el caso de Trolls.
