They could have had a spell pierce though. It's a good counter to have if you run Thalia. Because it is an effective counter unless the opponent pays 3.

@@covertgoblue Amazingly the exact same thing happened to me just today. Enchantment deck, he gg'd me, then he played his Royal Treatment early while I was holding removal. WHY he did that I have no idea. Maybe he thought I was playing all creatures because that was what the original list for that deck was like.

Sometimes I say good game and I literally just mean 'dude, this is a good game'. I normally say it when it's clear that no one is assured of the win to make it clearer what I mean.

it's awesome that so many decks are viable in standard. basically all the mono colored decks work and all of the playstyles can get a 53%+ win rate in mythic. ps . evolved sleeper might also work in this deck.

@@vaettra1589 on untapped there was a mono green ramp deck with Nissa that is at least viable. I'm not claiming that all of these decks are meta defining, but the fact that they're playble is already pretty good. For me who stopped playing MTG for a couple years, because of Yorion and Lurrus, it feels refreshing to see a standard that has so many options. It's also painfully clear to me why so many people run mono red aggro. You either won by turn 4-6, or you lost and move onto the next game. If your goal is to just grind out dailies and rank it's the most effecient way of doing so. It's a case of Arena setting bad incentives.

@@scipioafricanus2071 the meta is extremely stale, all viable decks = aggro that either wins by turn 4, aggro-tempo type deck that just protects its must remove 1-3 drops (nearly every creature in the game is a must kill threat nowadays), or sunfall sweepers and jace. Thats B01. Eveything else is jank that can only win if you draw well.

100% agree with you, seeing Bilious Skulldweller get dropped T1 on the play is almost up there with seeing Venerated Rotpriest drop T1 on the play. Hate seeing that card.

I know we always assume that people only say GG when they think they're going to win, but what if they're just saying "Yeah, this is a good game we're playing. A lot of good back and forth, what a good game."

I wonder what it sounds like in other languages - the game is available in like seven of them. Maybe in other languages it has a much more literal meaning. (Maybe I should run the client in Spanish someday - it's my native language, but I'm so used to seeing MTG cards in English that I find Spanish ones jarring, and most software translations/localizations range from very bad to "please don't ever try this again"...)

Finally some standard content! Pretty sure this deck would only work late in the season, so it won't ever be good with the new cards and new meta coming soon! This info is for anyone who needs it. I made mythic in just over one night, using an anti mono red deck, because it's such a huge part of the meta now that the ranking just reset. I went from lowest platinum to highest diamond in just a night running mono black with flesh gorgers cut downs, preachers, and Phyrexian obliterator and greedy freebooter to ramp into obliterator on turn 3. As soon as obliterator hits the battlefield more than half of mono red and gruul just scoop. Hope this info can be used by someone.

I'm struggling to get past tier 1 platinum with mono black. Mono red is maybe 10% of the decks I face. I rather have an anti-azorious deck, I hate durdling blue-white control with a passion and they are everywhere. What else do you have in your deck, darken?

Untapped says I'm 96percent wins against mono red 4 cut down 4go for the throat 4 life of tashiro 4 bats 3 gix 4 preacher of schism 4 flesh George 4 Phyrexian obliterator 2 archfiend of dross 24 land 1 takenuma 2 virtue of persistence For Azor control heavy meta I run the dimir boats and bats list with 4 negates for sunfalls and farewells etc I sub in mind link mech for schooner for the combo kill with blood letter. It usually kills em before they can play a sunfall. Dead on turn 4. I'm 82 percent against azorious control with it. Have you got to diamond yet with mono black yet my friend?

I love arena tho the magic community is absolutely toxic on it. They run upserd amount of removal spells. Learn to win through combos or in my opinion your just bad at deck building. Historical brawl is is the worst cheap as mtg where is the edh 4 player on arena? It not like don't make enough money.
