But that requires that the new cards are always better than the previous set's cards which is just pure power creep. I'd rather see an even spread of cards from every set in any given standard meta.

@@Fyrefrye not necessarily so. What if Standard rotated more often? If you were only playing with four sets in Standard, we'd see less power creep because we'd see less cards.

@@ebonezra8073 My point is that if the standard meta was primarily cards from the most recent set that means people are choosing to play them over the previous set's cards. This implies they are stronger or more synergistic than the previous sets. This is power creep and would be true regardless of how many sets are in standard. I will give you this, if standard had fewer sets this *would* bring its average power down but it would also exaggerate the issue of overtuned cards like Oko, genesis ultimatum, Uro, etc... With a lower cardpool it's harder to counter those cards or the decks they're put in.

@@Fyrefrye that's a good point. I suppose my point is more specifically: if Standard had fewer cards in it, the odds of seeing cards from the most recent sets would be higher. And if there were real powerful cards that were more noticeable, they'd be banned faster. Standard doesn't need to be "mini-modern," it can be a "royale" of the four newest sets- a tougher ban list with a vision to show off the newest sets as a whole- not just the best Mythics.

@@ebonezra8073 I just wish (naively) that we could return to the level of design that MTG had for over a decade that resulted in one or two standard bans EVER. Rather than the current "overtune and then ban just to fix the meta after a month or two of boredom."

I actually think its better without her. Doubling up on drain and card draw is nice, but having to wait a full turn versus the tokens Sedgemoor Witch gives you hurts. Witch also helps make Plumb and Village Rites more free and plays into the drain theme too with its ward, idk tho, both are good

Yes. Its fantastic with witch and ayara which isn't in this particular build but is very good with the pest tokens I think people haven't really tested the viability of lessons yet, but in various builds a few lessons can be quite good, environmental sciences is also quite strong

I think you summoned up the rate well. You need to take advantage of the two bodies and it's a great bonus if you can also take advantage of the lifegain triggers (such as with Dina). There are other lessons that work, but are more niche (Environmental Sciences, Academic Probation, the removal spells) or don't contribute as much to the gameplan (Inkling Summoning just as a 2/1 flying beater in White Aggro).

@@guessthatsitthen4982 I think you're right. I do think Duress might be a better choice vs Agonizing Remorse because it curves much better and grabs all the problem cards anyway.

I’m wondering about that too. Shade is recursion, but with all the card draw I don’t know how much that matters. And having an on demand sac outlet is nice.
