For those wondering about the voting variants, there are currently 4: - Will of the Council: the original, where each player votes for something and you do the thing with the most votes or tied - Will of the Planeswalkers: a variant of Will of the Council for Planechase games, voting for Planeswalk or Chaos - Council’s Dilemma: each player votes for something, and you do a thing for each choice - Secret Council: votes are made in secret
I love the mono colors but my god would I throw my beloved grandma into Mt Doom without a second of thought for "Oops All Dragons" where everyone does a dragon commander.
I'd be very curious to learn what % of games Ben wins whenever LRR do a non-precon commander episode. It feels like he consistently shows up with a deck that's head and shoulders above everyone else's, and consistently wins.
They've played 12 games with Ben not on a precon this year, he's won 9 of them and tied with Wheeler in one. So he's at over 75% win rate this year. Really starting to suck some of the fun out of these.
I randomly found Serge's equipment deck while bored and poking around Moxfield one night. I wanted to try it after playing his equipment canlander deck. After shuffling up a hand and playing a few turns I had to pause and ask myself, "Is this Serge's cat deck!?"
32:46 Man Ben, I wish they made Irencrag into a DFC because it's so much simpler The Irencrag Legendary Artifact T: Add C Whenever a legendary creature ETBs under your control, you may transform ~. ----- Everflame, Heroes Legacy Legendary Artifact - Equipment Equipped creature gets +3/+3 Equip 3. Also Everflame is a really uninteresting weapon.
A fun play in game 1 with a wrath and Boombile would have been to cast wrath with Boompile activation ready. Ben would have been forced to choose how to use the indestructible effects very carefully to not have activating Boompile in response sweep most things. Of course, who knoes if Nelson had the mana to make thag play in one turn
My third favourite thing bout Serge playing Commander is watching him play Kitchen Finks in a mono white/mono green deck. Though to be fair he only did that twice and now seems to get the colour identity restriction in commander, which is absent from Canlander.
Noticed lots of vancouver island products and chat then you mentioned yellowjacket... are you guys located on the island 😮 hometown heroes for me if so.
Aww, no love for the draft commons commander that is Odric, Lunarch Marshal. You ever want to kill someone with Segovian Angel and Healer's Hawk? He's your man.
If Serge's 1/1 double striker was Adorned Pouncer, the big brain play would have been to have it die to Norn, then eternalize it. Then again, I'm sure he had better things to do than spend seven mana on what would've been a 2/2 lol
I have conceded in response to lethal before so the attacking player didn't gain life, but I did it because they were already in a big lead and I wanted the other players to have more of a chance. Does that still make me a jerk?
For anyone who's wondering why extort cards are fine in mono colored deck, it's because the orzov mana symbol is in the reminder text of the card, reminder text is just on the card to remind people of what the card does and doesn't effect the rules text of the card.
Extort also isn't the first time mana symbols have appeared in reminder text. Soul Burn's original printing also uses the Red mana symbol while the oracle text just says "red mana".
Almost done with game 1. Ben has targeted a shrouded creature with Duelist's Heritage. He has missed venturing into the dungeon off creatures entering the battlefield after the Radiant Solar. To be fair, it's a very complex game state and neither of those mistakes would have altered the result.
I love radiant solar, I want to use it with the vampire that lets you pay a black when you gain life to return a creature from grave to hand and just power through the dungeon over and over.
Yes, I’m aware of it. But this one can be done at instant speed which is useful. Also, it lets you go through the tomb of horrors, which you can’t do with acererak.
White and Red were the weakest by far, but the gap has been closed in the last couple years. They still might be the weakest, but it's more of a fight now. Which is good. It's nice to see parity amongst the colors.
I absolutely love the Judge Vibes of Nelson and Serge discussing how to best take Serge's turn and, ultimately, coming down to, "I guess it really doesn't matter". XD
