Monolith 10 vs Goldenear Forcefield 4 subwoofers

I have a FF 3 which I bought to match my Triton seven GoldenEar. It is my first surround system and I have enjoyed the system along with my NAD receiver.

Ive seen the monolith at 499.00 and the FF4 for 900. I own both, i picked the FF4 up from a friend who bought the monolith and i ran it for a couple months, its no slouch. But when i heard my friends new monolith i couldnt believe the output, it could do it all. So i bought a thx 10 and the FF4 has been moved to the side for now. Price to performance the monolith is hands down the winner and to my ears is a more quality bass, pairs very well with a two channel set up for music while being able to drop real low. Ive been a def tech and golden ear fan for a long time, sandy gross did some good things with both companies but the only sub ive ever really been impressed with from him was the def tech reference, what a beast that was!

Mono 10 v1 was on ebay a while back at 425$ each. I have duals on my 2.1 pc setup. I use dual elemental designs a2-300's in my garage soon to be moved to the pole barn.

I got a forcefield 40. So happy. When i upgrade to a 5.1.2 i can transfer it over.

Cool video overall. I have wondered about the GE stuff. I own 2 of those Monolith subs. My concern is that if you had the gain knobs set roughly to 3/4 on each, and assuming the knobs are linear in the output, you are putting aprox 900w vs 325w. Would a comparison where you set the db to the same on both subs at a given frequency be fairer ? Keep up the content!

So it was actually, "dancing"? I thought it was some kind of strange distortion in the video until you said that🙂 It's not really a good thing that it does that of course, that's a source of distortion. I guess you could use two of them with one on top of the other upside down and facing the other way so you get some mechanical cancellation. You would have to bolt them together of course.

Curious, but did you have the signal split, going into both left and right RCA on the Monolith?

How is the port noise on Monolith 10" with movies have you had to do adjustment on it to help get red of the port noise?

I had ff4. I had been experiencing too much vibration specially on cover. What is your recommended crossover setup for music and movies? Thanks
