I’m curious why you put the stone over the foam? In my experience stone goes first to provide a drainage plane below the concrete. Dirt, stone, foam, vapor barrier, then concrete. With the blankets you’ve used here you’re effectively creating a vapor barrier between the dirt and the stone. Enjoy your videos regardless just wondering what the strategy is here.

Thermal protection from frost.. any moisture will drain out from the blanket it's got stone under it and on it

@DIRT-BOSS Question about your frost blankets/concrete blankets - Don't frost blankets rely on tiny pockets of trapped air to get their insulation value? I'm pretty sure frost blankets need space, they need 'loft'/fluff in order to have insulation value. If they are compressed their insulation value disappears. Does the spec sheet for those frost blankets list the R value for compressed blankets? Thanks.

Anyone know what kind of stone was that for the base? It didn't look the same as the crush-n-run that we have where I am. The stuff we get packs real tight like concrete, that looked different. I'm not too familiar with this stuff, so I'm definitely ignorant on the subject.

@@DIRT-BOSS Wow, thanks for the reply! Do you have a video on when to use which type of stone? I used "2-inch minus" for my shed and driveway base. It packed in real solid. I watered it and tamped in 2" lifts. But I'd love to learn if I should've used clean stone, or when it's appropriate to use what.

Can the slap holds 2 story shed? Will the side need to be deeper than 18 inches? Planing to build a 16x28 sheds. Love the video!

You're a surgeon with that tilt bucket! How would you do this if it was on a clay base? I'm considering doing a frost protected mono slab for my new shop, but I'm only about 2' over bedrock, and it's pretty much all clay... any suggestions?
@DIRT-BOSS
@DIRT-BOSS Год назад
You could either cut it down to the bedrock filling with stone or just put Stone under it we do it all the time here on Clay you'll be fine you could also do the extra step and put geotextile road fabric under it then Stone

Amazing work guys that floor is flat. You should see the floors in my house in Arizona. The builders using that cheap labor coming across that southern border. They work fast but the quality really suffers. I appreciate that it’s all Americans working on your project. Americans need to come first not the illegal aliens. In other countries Americans don’t come first. Enough said, thank you for the video.
