MONORAIL CRANE TROUBLESHOOTING, NO HOISTING AND LOWERING | MARINE ELECTRICIAN

I was called by the crew because our onboard crane (monorail crane) doesn't have a hoisting and lowering operation. We are scheduled to take in a cylinder liner which is around 9 tons in terms of weight hence fixing this crane is a must.
Here is the troubleshooting video I made as well as the steps to follow prior lifting heavy loads.

I have list of stressful machineries which I always read the wiring diagram in every vessel that I am sailing with. Monorail is part of that list, engine room crane, mooring winches, gangway, pilot ladders and Auxiliary boiler. Why??? Because once you have trouble in them, it will affect the operation of the vessel that is why I familiarize my self on these machineries.

I notice that a lot of times it’s the timer that fails in these systems. Is it just because they’re used in such harsh conditions? Or are they just cheap components that wear out a lot? Love your videos!

I always look forward to your videos. It’s surprising to see all the systems, equipment, workings and support that is required to operate such a large vessel. I can imagine you ( and the rest of the crew) stay pretty busy. Question….With these videos and all, Do you have any time to yourself ? Is it better that you stay busy, Could you elaborate.

All the earnings from videos I put them in a fund where one day I can send kids to university, so yeah I make vlog to keep me busy and at the same time help others to at least learn from the videos and while they are learning then the views they make can help indigent students.

say the hoist motor blows out mid hoisting with load, what does one do. Is there a spare motor or is there an alternate means to mechanically operate the hoist

We can manually rack out or in the load by releasing the brake.
