I installed Monroe load leveling rear shocks on my 07 Silverado 2X4 (GMT900). The installation was very simple. However, in less than 100 miles, both shocks squeaked loudly. I discovered that the rubber sleeve had slipped down the cylinder and the spring was squeaking against the top portion of the cylinder. I used a large flat head screwdriver and began to slide the sleeve back into place. Before I slid it completely into position, I sprayed loctite 200 glue near the top of the cylinder then quickly slid the sleeve into its proper position. In addition, in just 2 months, the shocks were showing more rust than I would expect from a new part.
@@Jim-pw3wz I don't know if this is true but I read that that the quality of Monroe vary with vendors. Buying direct from Monroe is a higher quality shock that buying at a "box" store. However, I sinned and ordered mine from O'Reilly's. Before you install them, try to put something to keep the sleeve from sliding around. Mine squeak less with age.
Hey man thanks for the video I have a 2018 Silverado and I have been looking for something like this, I hope they have it for my truck I think it will make a difference when I’m towing my camper.
UPDATE!!! These have gone to crap. Do not buy. It's only been a couple months and now they bounce all over the place. They will be replace with stock ac delco.
Eric Putman I ended up replacing them with the AC Delco tow haul ones there like the stock just a little stiffer no spring. I bought them at rock auto.
Yes, but if you check my other comments. You will see I no longer recommend these shocks. I would replace with the standard ac delco. Or if towing ac delco makes a heavy duty shock that works well. I ended up switching too those. You can find all of them for a great price on rock auto.com.
Yes still riding well with no problems. They do ride quite a bit stiffer In The winter, but that was expected. Just left the ice shack back there all winter I’m sure sand bags would do the same.
John c thanks for the quick response! I’ve got some on the way eager to see the difference! Now just time to get new front end suspension components lol
